View 1 Replies View RelatedWe updated our business website in December and moved the hosting to our web designer's servers.Very shortly afterwards, we discovered that we could not view our own website, nor access our emails, which are hosted through our web domain name via cPanel. We run two Apple Macs through a Linksys router connected by two ethernet cables. We also have a Vonage internet phone connected to the network, which works either connected directly to the modem, or routed through the Linksys. We had this set up since March and had never had any problems until we had the new website. We don't know if its related, or just a coincidence.
We first went through a process of elimination:
First we connected the computers directly to the modem (one at a time, as obviously both can't connect directly) and we could access our emails and website absolutely fine. Not a solution though, as we need access on two machines. This led us to believe the problem was with the router. Both the Linksys and the Vonage device (box that the phone is plugged into, which is in turn connected to the internet) work as routers and we could view both router's home pages through their ip addresses.
We first called Vonage customer support, and no matter what they suggested in the nearly 2 hour call, nothing worked. We found a solution that suggested changing the MAC address of our router. After looking at the settings of the Vonage box, we couldn't work out how to change the MAC on this, so we changed the MAC of the Linksys instead - and it worked. We could view our emails and website again. However, plugging the Vonage box back in resulted in us losing access to our emails and website again. The set up solution worked for about a day before the same problems came back.
So we again unplugged the Vonage phone device and just ran our two Macs from the Linksys router - all fine, for a bit.A couple of days later the emails and website became inaccesible again. In desperation I changed the Mac address of the Linksys router and we were up and running again.
This solution worked for another day or so, until the old problems arose again. Now, whenever we reset the Mac address of the Linksys, it works, but emails and the website become inaccesible sometimes as soon as half an hour afterwards, sometimes longer, but however long we can gain access to the emails for, we constantly have to stop to reset the router, then restart everything. We now know that its nothing to do with the Vonage phone, so I'm discounting that from the equation now. Also, we've just tried running each of our computers in turn when plugged directly into the modem via an ethernet cable. Interestingly, one machine works fine, and can access the emails and our website, but the other machine now can't access the email or the website, but loads all other sites fine. Is this significant?
We've been reading up on our problems again, and it has been suggested that the issues are being caused by the website/email server blocking our ip address and that we can solve this issue by having a static ip address instead of the dynamic one that Virgin Media assigns. As we are on a home broadband service, we understand that this isn't possible though. Surely, if Virgin reassigns ip addresses every session, our ip would be constantly changing, therefore if we were blocked by the website server, wouldn't it be more likely to be blocking a static one, not one that is constantly changing? And also, how come one of our machines can access the emails etc when directly connected to the modem, but the other can't?
Other solutions proposed have been:
-Get a new router
-Move our website to a new server
-Move our emails to a new server and access our own website through a proxy.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy internet has been working fine until a few minutes ago, when my connection just vanished. I went to try and reconnect but my Belkin N Wireless USB adapter could not find any wireless networks to connect to. While searching for a connection, the light starts blinking like it is searching, but then it says that it can't find any. Also, when I plug in the adapter, a popup comes up saying that there are wireless networks nearby, but when I click it there are still none.
I've tried reinstalling drivers but still nothing. I'm not sure what else to try because I'm afraid I might mess something up even more.
I have: ASUS Netbook with Windows 7 Starter.
As of last night, I cannot connect to any of the wireless networks I use every day (my personal home network or my school's WPA2).
The signal strength is very good, but it says "Limited Access" next to the network name. Apparently "Limited" means "No" because I am not connected. Here's what happened:Lavasoft Ad-Aware was blocking a site that I needed to access. I haven't used Ad-Aware in months, and it did not even appear to be running. So uninstalled it with Add/Remove programs in the control panel. BUT, mid-way through the uninstallation, I got a blue screen and my computer restarted. When my computer booted back up, I could no longer connect to my home's wireless. I'm at school now and I cannot connect here either. Ad-aware is gone from the add/remove programs list, but there is still an Ad-Aware folder in Program Files. The folder still has a bunch of stuff in it, including adaware.exe. I dont see an uninstaller (but i havent really investigated that yet). so now i can't connect to any network. Here's What I've TriedRan troubleshooter. Useless. Turned off my netbook's wireless. turned it back on. Device manager says my Network Adapters are working fine. No yellow or red icons next to them. also tried resetting stuff with the command prompt. something about winsock and netsh. I don't know what I was doing though. just following instructions from other people on yahoo answers when i googled the problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought a WRT54GL which is working perfectly. I needed it to extend my home network for my kids (I have not a very fast internet connection and my kids are eating all of it... With the WRT54GL I can choose how much they can have. So my own network has a netgear modem and a netgear wifi access point which is in this network : 192.168.0.x.
This network is not blocked in any way (just password protected). For my kids network, the WRT54GL gives addresses in this network : 192.168.1.x and is limited in speed. Everything is perfect, I have internet connection on both of my network, There is just the problem that I cannot access my printers, my servers, my computers.... that are on the 192.168.0.x network from 192.168.1.x. Is there a solution ? I already tried to force the WRT54GL to go to 192.168.0.x network but no more connection. Should I "bridge" the two networks ? How can I do it ?

I have been using this router for around 8 to 9 months now. Everything was working fine till one week back. Now I am facing problem with my office emails. I cannot get my office emails while on WiFi network. Outlook is not able to connect to my office server and I don't receive my emails. Rest everything works fine. Initially i used to get all the emails while using this WiFi router. When I connect my internet cable directly to my laptop, i am able to receive all the emails in my office outlook inbox.
I am also using my Samsung Galaxy S3 on this WiFi network. And my office outlook is configured in it. I am facing the same problem with my phone as well, it started recently, around one week back, as already informed above. However, when i switch on my mobile internet, all the new emails start coming to my inbox, which means that there is some problem with WiFi network.
What I am supposed to do which will enable me to receive all the office emails while on this routers WiFi network. Its giving me a hard time.
I have Linksys configured with IP 192.168.0.x and my local network ip 192.168.1.x have firewall connected to Adtrans box that gives us internet access via T1 line and other port is connected to the switch. View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically I have 3 networks in the school - one of which I have no control over as it is a managed network. I also have a Microsoft Windows SBS network in the school which I look after myself. Both the managed network and what I class as my legacy network share a cisco router. The managed network is connected to wan port one and my 'legacy' network is connected to wan port 2. The cisco router has been set up in such a way by the managing company that the second wan port is for my legacy network and has an ip address of 10.127.40.1 and subnet 255.255.248.0 so my legacy network has IP ranging on the same subnet So far, everything works great in its current setup but I have now been given a task. The school canteen has had a Windows 2003 SBS server installed to operate their cashless system and I have been asked if they can get access to the internet. I could remove my 'legacy' network and connect their network but don't really wish to do so. This particular SBS server has been set up with ip addressing 192.x.x.x and subnet 255.255.255.0 Is there a way I can set up the two 'legacy' networks to 'share' this one internet connection. I need to keep the two legacy networks separate in terms of IP addressing. I also need to keep costs to a minimum. Minimum would be to disconnect my network but as I say, I don't wish to do so. I have access to some Cisco 2950G switches and I think from reading on the internet, that a layer 3 switch or router may be required?

Set the WAN of my private home router as
IP: 192.168.2.100
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.2.2

View 4 Replies View RelatedI hear a lot these days about ethernet deployment in metropolitan areas as access networks. Does this mean that there would be one big optical ethernet LAN (or MAN if you prefer) with fiber to the home connected by switches? Wouldn't this lead to massive spanning trees in large cities? One bad, configuration in the network would affect the whole network. Will all IP traffic have to travel to the core even if it is destined for an intra-MAN destination? I cannot imagine that a ARP broadcast in a large MAN is feasible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhy is there no DR/BDR concept in EIGRP multiaccess networks? If the purpose of a DR/BDR is to limit excess traffic when there is a change in the topology, why isn't there one in EIGRP? I understand that DR/BDR share LSAs and not routes but the concept is still the same: there is a change in the topology and the change gets flooded to all neighbors, those neighbors in turn flood it to their neighbors on the multiaccess network thus causing excess traffic.

I have an ASA 5520 8.2(3) and allowing my remote client-to-site-vpn clients to access resources directly connected to my ASA on separate lower security interfaces (not the outside) besides just clients on my internal networks. Someone mentioned to me configuring 'VPN on a stick' however from what I've read this seems to be only applicable when it comes to split-tunneling back out the outside interface (could be off on that). Is this possible on other lower security interfaces as well, and if so what would a mock config that accomplishes that look like (acl's, nat, etc)? Also, if I want internal users to be able to connect to these remote clients once they are active, are there any nat statements necessary (such as nonatting them) or are the vpn clients just seen as internal clients from the rest of the internal network's standpoint by default?
