View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been trying for days to get a HP Photosmart Plus B209a wireless printer to work with my D-Link DIR-655.Going through the HP setup cd for I get to the section where it wants to hookup a usb cable to get router settings and finds my network and then I put in the password. Then after looking for a bit it says it can't find the printer.Looking at the wireless status page it says the ip address is 0.0.0.0.Reading on HP's website it says that you must have the router set to broadcast the SSID, I believe mine is set to hide. How would I go about changing it to broadcast AND would it mess up all my other settings changing it to Broadcast, meaning will I have to reconfigure the other computers again? Do I use the set up wizard to edit things or is that for first time set up ?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a practically brand new HP LJ P1006 with an extra brand new HP brand toner cartridge for $1 at a local auction. I have tested it, and it works perfectly, so all is fine there. I would like to know if it is possible to print wirelessly to it at all. I do not have it hooked up to a computer right now, we only have two laptops, so there is not a desktop to have it hooked up to in order to put it on a home network (I believe that is how that works).
I do have a Netgear N300 router with a USB port however, and I was thinking I may be able to do something there.
Is it possible to hook this printer into my router via USB and then be able to print to it from our latptops? If so, how would we go about setting that up to do so?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought an ea6500 to replace my old Billion router and up to now all I've had to do is plug my phone line directly into the "phone line in" port on the back of the billion router. But I see there is no "phone line in" port on the ea6500, I don't use a modem and have used the billion router by itself for the past 6 years, is there a way to connect my phone line directly to the ea6500 somehow? My research so far indicates you can't do it via an 'Ethernet / phone line adaptor' as they are incompatable anyway.
The install guide seems to expect a Modem is being used but in my case it hasn't been and I would think a router should perform the basic functions of a modem anyway ?
My concern is that if I really need to purchase a modem then won't this potentially 'throttle' the capabilities of the ea6500 which is the reason I've bought it in the first place ?
If I do need to purchase a modem to get my ea6500 working then what specs should I be looking for ??
The last couple of weeks the phone line has been dropping until I unplug for about 30 seconds to reset. It is happening more frequently. The phone service through TMobile gets a dial tone and rings several times then drops when making a call.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a home network with a wired BEFSR41 that, for a variety of reasons, MUST be manually IP configured (DHCP off). All computers and other devices connected to it are manually IP configured. I desire to add a device that cannot be manually configured, and needs DHCP. I therefore need to daisy-chain two routers with the second one DHCP on (and manual IP connection to the main network). The new device needs two-way internet access, but doesn't care if it sees any other current network devices. I've tried several configurations, none seem to work.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI presently have ATT DSL Motorola modem (Model 2210-02-1022) with (1) DSL Green plug, and (2) Ethernet-Yellow in the back of my modem.I have reset the E1200 Router, and tried multiple ways of getting the Wi-Fi to work. This Linksys E1200 belonged to my neighbor, but he recently passed away, and left me all his computer devices. In the Wall phone jack, I have a DSL noise filter as part as a two female plug,
1) for the Green DSL on Modem, and the other
2) to my phone handset. The way I usually plug this in BEFORE this router was this: The green DSL plug from Modem - into phone jack DSL Filter, and the Yellow ETHERNET cord from Router to the back of Computer. I powered on computer, plugged in all cords, except for E1200 power cord, disabled antivirus/security software, I then inserted the Cisco Connect CD and waited , and waited, but it said I was not connected to the Internet. ERROR CODE# 82BD0304. I'm using win7 64 Pro. before i called ATT, I wanted to know if there is an easier way to conect the right cords to the right plugs.

Within a property without an available adsl line I'm simply trying to network a wireless laptop with a wireless printer. Is the lack of an internet connection the issue or simply a configuration issue?

I am replacing my qwest/centurylink actiontec q1000 with the td-w8960n. I have run all the different setups, with the different settings that I have found on the net but to no avail. The one thing I have noticed is that the light for the asdl on the td-w8960n does not come on, but yet when I plug it back into the actiontec it sees it and the internet works. Any reason why the td-w8960n is not recognizing the active dsl line?
I currently have DSL and I have my router connected to the phone line in my home office and have 3 computers (2 business & 1 gaming) connected to the router via ethernet cable, works great. What I want to do is take the gaming computer to the game room in the basement and hook it up to the internet down there. Since it's a gaming computer I want to connect it to a router with ethernet cable for the fastest possible upload and download speeds (I do not want to use WiFi because I play flight sims and FPS and WiFi is too slow/laggy for online play).
1. Can I connect a second router into the phone/DSL line in the basement then hook up the gaming computer to the second router and get internet access like I have in the home office?
2. If I ran an ethernet cable from the home office router to a second router in the basement, would the long length of the ethernet cable adversely affect the connection speed (bit rate) of the second router? (would I get slower internet access in the basement?)
