Oct 30, 2011
I have internet line came from my neighbor throught his hub directly connected to my laptop.. My problem is, i buy wireless ADSL model router but when i check the DSL line port its rj14 which i can not connect my RJ45 internet line. Addtional information, my wireless router have another 4 port LAN. Can i connect my internet line to LAN port,if it so how will i configure the router..
I just got a DSL Modem router (DSL 2750U) which has DSL input for internetconnectivity. My internet service provider provides RJ45 Cable which needs LAN input socket on a router for internet connectivity. How do I connect?
I have an telemetry equipment which have one ethernet RJ45 port, so I have an internet connection and I can connect to this device remotely using a browser on my PC for security reason I want to feed this device with a second internet connection that is coming from a cellular line , can I just put the two different Internet cables into a switch and from that switch connect my device?
We bought a Cisco line card WS-X4648-RJ45-E for Cisco 4507 R-E. Later on I found that this module is not working with the chassis becuase supervisor engine 4 we are using. Supervisor Engine 6 is required for WS-X4648-RJ45-E. Now I want to go for WS-X4548-RJ45. Is it possible to return the line card? Is there any possible way to exchange?
I have 4506 chassis whose sup engine is WS-X45-SUP6L-E and recently brought line card WS-X4648-RJ45E. When i inserted very same line card on chassis is not support.
I was very happy working with my WRT610N connected to the ethernetport of my previous internet modem. Recently I had to switch to a new modem CISCO EPC3925. Unfortunately this combination does not work anymore. I don't get an internet connection on my WRT610N anymore. I therefore have to connect all computers (LAN and WIFI) to this EPC3925. Especially for the WIFI I'm not fully happy. My IPAD2 sometimes does not want to connect, a problem which never occurred when connecting to WRT610N.
I probably need to change a setting, but where? In the EPC3925 or in WRT610N?
Hotels have wired LAN connections and not wireless. Is there a device that will plug into the ethernet cable and offer wi-fi for more than one laptop/smart phone in the hotel room?
I have this adsl wireless router but my internet connection only has RJ45 directly connected to my PC. My questions is how can I use my ADSL wireless router with this kind of internet connection.. because I really want to make my connection wireless..
I have Cisco 800 series (888w) with BRI-ISDN port. Is there any way to change the usage of ISDN port to normal RJ45 port?I want to use this SOHO router to sharing connection.
I've been using a WRT120N on a local area connection. The WRT120N acts as a gateway and also to connect to the PPOE connection, via a bridged adsl modem.I've noticed that the LAN port 1 was flashing although the network cable was disconnected from the physical port. I've restarted a few times but to no avail as well. Ever since that, I've noticed that connection through cable are unstable and hard. Now, I'm not able to reset or upgrade the router's firmware. Is there any other way to be done so that I can get this router working as normal again.
Is it possible to use my atom mini itx with pci + pci nic card and creating a firewall? No possible problems between using the motherboard port and a pci port? I'd like to fool around with smoothwall or another firewall software.
I have an internet connection that enters my house using a CAT5 cable through RJ45 type socket - Currently I have a desktop that is connected to the Cable - I want to share my internet connection - The desktop should have a cable connection and want to connect a laptop as well which will connect using wireless as well as cable as and when required - I will not be using both computers at all times so do not want to make my desktop a server or the laptop a server.
I have an old 2007 model Toshiba HD LCD television. It does not have a USB port, but it does have a connection for RJ45. I want to convert this to a USB port, Is there a converter/connector for this purpose?
I am learning the 2911 router. Is there a way to set a physical single RJ45 port to handle multiple WAN IPs? Or do I need to buy a port expansion module.
One of branch locations has a Cisco 1941 Router . The port details are as follows
-Gi0/0 - ISP line -Gi0/1 - Inside Network ( To a 2960 Switch)
Now they have procurred another line from ISP through which MPLS based VPN to the Main location is configured. What are the options I have , to terminate it on the Router ? As all the On board LAN ports are filled I guess I wont be able to do anything with the current setup .Are Switching modules available ? What is the Embedded-Service-Engine0/0 port that I see on #sh ip int b output ?
We have recently purchased 2 x 4900M switches with the following configuration:
2 x X2-10GB-SR installed in port te1/1, 1/2 (optical)
1 x 20 x 1GB RJ45 installed in the top left of chasis ge2/1 - 2/20
1 x WS-X4908-10G-RJ45 8 port 1/2 card in the top right of chassis te3/1 - 3/8
We have te1/1 connecting the 2 switches, and various vlan's and connections on the 1GB RJ45's with no problems.
However, we have a number of 10Gbps BaseT connections te3/1 - te3/5 which are causing us issues. On a reload of the switch or removal / re-install of the cable it can take anywhere up to an hour for the port to become active again. So when we reload the switch, we may get a connection come up after say 3 mins, but the port next to it may not come up for 15-60 min. The cabling is all the same (CAT6 and has been tested/verified) and all connections go to Broadcom 10Gb cards in Dell 820 servers running vmware. We have the following set on the ports:
switchport mode access spanning-tree portfast
No speed or duplex can be set on these ports - these options are not available in the config.
Once a link is finally established, it will hold the link solid with no problems, but this is a problem for us, we can't have a reboot take an undetermined amount of time for the link to come back.
I need a small number of computers connected to the Internet through the E4200.E4200 must be connected to the switch via the LAN port. The basic network is a network of class A - 10.xxx/255.0.0.0.How do I do?E4200 can not enter a mask of 255.0.0.0.
I'm trying to connect an Epson Stylus Color 740 USB printer to a newly purchased E4200 wireless router. I've upgraded to the latest Cisco Connect software and to version 1.0.0.3 router firmware. I get the message "A non-supported device is connected to your router's USB port. Disconnect that device and follow the steps below to connect a USB printer to your router." Cisco support was not beneficial.
Ok on my new PC,,OS is windows xp..I works fine..connect to pppoe and can surf internet perfectly. But on my old pc,,it can only succesfully connect to wan miniport pppoe but cant surf the internet..its OS is Windows Vista home Prem. The old pc was my first pc(notebook) and last time I used it was on 2009..it was using Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller connection and I forgot what modem I used..but now I bought TP-link TD-W8901G and I use for ADSL connection. My new pc works fine because it was setup proffesionaly by my friend..it also still needs Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller connection to connect ADSL Wan Miniport PPPoE..but I repaired my old pc too late..and he didnt configured it..so I setup myself..all the PPPoE adsl connections. And so its succesfully connected to WAN miniport PPPoE..but I can surf the internet..The old pc also needs Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller connection for me to connect ADSL Wan Miniport PPPoE..but all that was succesfull.
There is no "blinking light" indication on my E3000 at the Internet (Yellow label) and Ethernet port no 4. I tried plugging in 2 cables at all of the ports. I got the blinking indication at Port 1 through 3. The same cable's have no response at Port 4 and Internet port. As a result my I am not able to connect to the internet.
I have an ADSL router like the one showed below & internet from the provider via a RJ45 cable.
I need to share the incoming internet from the RJ45 cable to the remaining three RJ45s & over the wireless. How to configure the router to get this working?
Also the internet provider needs me to authenticate via their default webpage before I can access the internet & I can say it doesn't have any MAC binding.
If I were to take a e4200v2 and use it as an access point (disable DHCP), would the USB port connected to a Hard Drive still function as network storage?
I have the DIR-655, Rev. B running 2.07NA firmware, and have a strange problem with my wired clients. I have my primary computer/desktop PC connected via wired connection. I also have several wireless clients (laptop, iPad, iPhones, etc.). All have been performing normally. However, in December I connected a wired weather internet bridge to another ethernet port on the DIR-655.
It functions as it is supposed to, and all other connected devices do as well. But here's the problem - whenever I use the desktop PC (the only other wired connection) to do anything on the internet (mostly just web browsing ... I don't stream media from the internet on it, I don't do torrents....nothing out of the ordinary, and nothing really of high bandwidth), the wired weather bridge cannot communicate with its associated website. This continues as long as I'm using the desktop PC. When I stop using the desktop, the weather bridge resumes normally.
I have researched the weather bridge, and it is simply doing POST transactions (or so I'm told) to the website listening to it. It doesn't wait for acknowledgements or anything...just keeps POSTing updates. I tried reserving an IP for the weather bridge and the desktop, enabling QoS, and prioritizing the weather bridge (100 vs. desktop at 125), but it didn't work. I've tried moving the weather bridge into the DMZ. I'm totally baffled how just using the desktop to browse the internet could completely block the traffic from the weather bridge.
On the weather bridge support site, they suggested that I insure I'm not connected in gigabit speeds from my computer to the router, because in the past that has been known to cause issues on clients not running that speed, but I don't think my desktop is connected in that fashion. According to the settings, it can do 10 or 100, full or half. I have it set to AUTO.
My ISP is Sky who I use for phone calls and internet, the line to my my house was installed by BT several years ago. I live in a fairly rural area and have never had more than a 1.5mb connection. Two months ago a neighbor who was repairing his guttering accidentally broke the main phone line coming from the pole directly to our house (the ladder he used was left unattended and it fell over catching on the wire). The line broke in the middle of the length that runs from the pole directly in front of our house to the connecting shackle on the house fascia board, on the first floor. I connected the broken wire back together, I only have one line in, so all that needed to be soldered were the white and orange wires. The other colored wires I cut flush. The remaining three steel core wires i used as holding wires. Everything was heat shrink sealed, insulation taped up, heat shrink over the whole lot and then more insulation tape put over the whole join, allowing around three or four inches over run at each end of the join. Afterward I did a quiet line test (17070 option 2) and the line was good. My internet speed was as per usual, 1.5mb. Last Wednesday I was checking my email and web pages kept timed out, i logged on to the router and checked the speed I was connected at. My speed was 560kbps / 56k. After several router resets the speed was still not any higher. I did a quiet line test again and there was a considerable amount of line noise. As it had rained a few times since my repair to the wire I thought it best to check to see if any water had gotten in. Unfortunately, even with all the insulation water had indeed got in. There was a score mark on the cable and that was the obvious route of entry. Upon opening the repair back up I could see the copper wire inside the orange line had turned black. I had to cut back the damaged line about 10 inches total, to get shiny copper cable and remove the scoring on the outside of the cable. I re-joined the line as I had done before. A quiet line test was good, but my internet speed remains at 560kbps / 56k. I bought a new ADSL filter, and have tested the router directly in the master test socket without my phone extension, no difference in internet speed at all, and like I said the quiet line test is perfect. Before I bite the bullet and get BT to come and renew the cable (which I am going to get done, when my neighbor can afford it) is there anything that I could have overlooked, or is it possible that the water has damaged something i.e. the Sky router or other parts of the cable?
Not too much networking savvy - but here goes. Want to use router as local lan - no wireless. When router is connected to laptop via RJ45 I loose my ability to connect to sites via browser. IPconfig shows wireless adapter at 192.168.1.3. When router is attached it's ip is 192.168.1.1. Disabled the wireless in the settings but no dice. When the router was used with DSL it was set at PPPoE but now that I'm just using it locally not sure whether it should be DHCP or Static or other.
I connected EA6500 internet port to actiontec router provided by Verizon fios. I don't have any other way to connect as FIOS connection is coax to actiontec modem. I must take a drop from actiontec to internet port on EA6500.
With that said, I can't get EA6500 to work, it keeps saying no internet. The only way I can get it to work is when I set it to bridge mode. This makes my EA6500 a dumb switch/access point. I didn't spend $200 for a switch. I need to use advanced features offered by this router but I can't until this problem is fixed. I made sure I am running latest version of firmware (1.1.28.146856).
I have reset my fios router as well as ea6500 to factory defaults multiple times.
I can no longer browse through any browser, or update any programs (even though I am still connected to my wireless router). I have already done a Refresh, but the problem persists
