I need to share the incoming internet from the RJ45 cable to the remaining three RJ45s & over the wireless. How to configure the router to get this working?
Also the internet provider needs me to authenticate via their default webpage before I can access the internet & I can say it doesn't have any MAC binding.
I have a problem with my vpn concentrator. I cannot access it through console, I have tried every baud rate that is available on my SecureCrt but it won't display anything. At first, I thought that my console cable is defective but I was able to access a WLC via console cable together with the rj45 to db9 converter. I also tried connecting the vpn concentrator to a switch and enable the cdp in the switch but the "show cdp neighbor" can't detect or display the vpn concentrator even if the interface status is "up up". Is it safe to say that the VPN concentrator is already broken?

View 1 Replies View RelatedNot too much networking savvy - but here goes. Want to use router as local lan - no wireless. When router is connected to laptop via RJ45 I loose my ability to connect to sites via browser. IPconfig shows wireless adapter at 192.168.1.3. When router is attached it's ip is 192.168.1.1. Disabled the wireless in the settings but no dice. When the router was used with DSL it was set at PPPoE but now that I'm just using it locally not sure whether it should be DHCP or Static or other.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to connect internet via telephone cable by using rj11 jack from my ethernet switch to another computer it is 150mts away from my office premises.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to be able to modernize these outlets with a new RJ11 jack for telephone and replace the electric outlets with fresh ones. Problem is, no one can lead me to where I can find new wall plates for this combo setup style. Someone has told me this is out of code for many years now and there is no clear cut path to modernizing it besides just moving the telco jack/box out of the electric gang box and into its own separate box to the side.
Upgrading such "messes" to standard modular RJ11 plugs, and finding wallplates for it?
I live in an apartment where my internet is included in the rent. In all the rooms there is an ethernet socket buillt into the wall. I'd like to know how to connect a router to this for wireless internet. I have tried one router, but it buggers up the ip address and brings down the network for the entire apartment complex. I've done this twice now and don't fancy waiting another week for the technician to call out to reset things. I had a friend who lived in a simalar complex, rj45 sockets on the wall etc. He has a thomson router, which has a little black box plugged into the ethernet socket on the back of the router. Into this little black box goes the ethernet cable from the wall socket and bam, he has wireless internet, even though he has no access to the main router or switch of the apartment block. It's not failed once either. Both the router and the little black box need mains power.I think it was originally for a WIMAX connection. It's small, maybe 2"X3" inch?

I have an internet connection that enters my house using a CAT5 cable through RJ45 type socket - Currently I have a desktop that is connected to the Cable - I want to share my internet connection - The desktop should have a cable connection and want to connect a laptop as well which will connect using wireless as well as cable as and when required - I will not be using both computers at all times so do not want to make my desktop a server or the laptop a server.

I know there's plenty of "dumb" media converter choices out there, but was hoping to get one that has a console conn or the like to troubleshoot any possible issues. Within the house the wireless signal is fine, however I have an outside office in the garden which is just beyond the normal range of the wireless signal.
