Linux Mint 10 Won't Detect WiFi Hub
Feb 27, 2011I recently installed Linux Mint 10 (Julia). Having found the network options, it seems unable to find my BTHomeHub2, although Windows 7 finds it perfectly well with 5 bars.Interestingly, the network icon in Linux only shows VPN connections and Wired connections, no wireless section. My computer is a Medion Akoya E4120 D with a Realtek RTL8191SU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter. The wireless adapter is inside the PC, attached to an internal USB port I'm guessing.So all in all, how do I get my wireless internet to work with Linux Mint 10?

I know there is a quick way to do this in the GUI, but we are using a server so GUI does not apply in this case.
however Kudzu has been removed as of Centos 5 so I would rather avoid that. There is a procedure that Linux runs on initial install - what that is so I can manually trigger it?

I can also connect to the WiFi on my laptop, but the Internet does not work. My homepage will come up but I can't go to any other sites. My laptop refuses to access the internet though the WiFi signal is strong (my Android phone connects instantly). I am currently in a hotel so cannot mess with the router (as advised by Windows help!). I have a similar problem in one airport lounge but generally it's fine, and at home I have no problem at all. It will connect for a while but them loses it and it stays lost for ages.

Aug 26, 2012I have a couple of computers in my house that work fine with my wireless router, but all of a sudden, my roommate's computer, a Dell Inspiron with Windows 7, is connection to the wireless network but has "no internet access." I've rebooted th.e modem and router, to no avail. I've also tried a number of suggestions online, but without success. My friend's computer has McAfee, with which I'm unfamiliar. The only real difference I cn see between our computers is that she has a different wireless card.

I connect to my home wifi network and will have excellent signal strength, but after about 20 minutes or so, I will lose internet access, but will stay connected to my wifi network. If I join my neighbor's wifi network I will have the same issue.I will connect to a network, and while still connected, I will suddenly lose internet access (signal strength will remain the same). Switching networks doesn't correct the problem.
When I lose internet, I can disconnect from the network and reconnect mere seconds later and will have the internet access back again.I have reset the modem/router and my computer numerous times but the problem does not go away.
