im working in company that develop high speed networking equimpnet(Mellanox)we develop 4056GB network cards and switches.we have developer network on HP pro curve switchs, the engineering make tets on servers with the high speed network cards and sometimes the test "go out" from the 4056GB network cards and switches and "boombing" the regular network of 1G in hp swiches.i meen every server are connecting with RJ-45 cable for access to the server and the real work is on th Mellanox switches and network cards but sometimes the test "run away" to the ethernet network and 40G traffic are killing the network.function in HP switches that recognize over booking traffic and automatic disable the bombed port?now we have spening tree and brodcaste limit on every switch but its not enough, the big traffic kill the network until we disable the problematic port and igonre the bombing server.we have hp procurve 5610 layer3 switch and pro curve 2510 switches.
I have a WRT100 wireless router, which is configured for a PPPOE connection to my ISP. After running one of the tools to determine responsiveness of DNS name services, I would like to manually configure my DNS services, placing a more responsive service as my first DNS choice. In the router administration, I can configure three static DNS IP's. However, I don't see any place in the configuration to turn off the automatic DNS configuration from my ISP. So, when I issue an IPCONFIG /ALL on my computer, the DNS listing shows two DNS Name Services from my ISP ahead of the three static DNS IP's that I configured.
I recently got my hands on the latest Secure Mobility VPN v3.1.01 client. We are upgrading from the old anyconnect 2.4 client so there are many changes that are catching us by surprise. The biggest issue I have right now is that the new Mobility VPN launches automatically when a user signs into a machine. We would like to disable that automatic connection/launch feature. With the old 2.4 client we simply disabled the AnyConnect Service in Services.msc by default and started it up when a user was ready to connect.
We have a Lan with several multicast routers. Each router handles different multicast groups sent by remote sources to the hosts on the Lan. All the routers are connected to a Cisco 3560G switch. The routers range from 7204s to 2621XM, and even a 6503 switch. We found that each router is constantly bombarded with multicast data from each other router, even though the router did not join any groups. Obviously, we'd rather not have this happen, because it causes each router's CPU to rise to very uncomfortable levels. If I bring a new router onto the Lan, as soon as I enable multicast, the data starts hitting the router's interface. In an attempt to stop the traffic, I protected each router port, so that (supposedly) the router will not be able to communicate with any other protected port.
I am thinking of buying a SG200-26P switch and have a few questions:Is it possible to disable the PoE function on the 12 PoE ports?I need al the ports but only 6 with PoE.What happens when you connect a non PoE device to a PoE port?

I have an E2500 and i need to disable the ports on the router. I have a DSL line going in and thats it. I do not want it to be able to accept any wired device and have someone get on the internet. I do not want someone to just take a laptop, with a LAN able, plug it into a port, and get internet. How would i be able to disable the ports?
I have a customer looking to deploy OEAP & wants to know if it possible to disable the local ports 1-3? Reason being, they don't want the home user connecting devices & causing more support tickets to troubleshoot an Xbox or Google TV just b/c it's connected to a company provide AP/Switch. I have read all the docs & it makes no mention of this.... I can see in 7.2 the ability to disable the local SSID but no mention of the ability to shutdown ports 1-3..Also see support in 7.2 for Dual RLAN... but that still leaves 2 local ports.

I've browsed around to the other support strings to make sure I didn't miss anything, but I can't seem to get this to work. I have the latest sl_suspend_ports.tcl and tm_suspend_ports.tcl created by Joseph Clarke from strings that verified they worked as planned. Here are the commands I issued to register the scripts -

Essentially, we have a need to make sure all computers are always on and all ports not active for >24 hours to be shutdown and moved to a designated vlan (I added the 'lappend' statement to the script to specify the additional command of assigning the vlan) I'm running 12.2(55)SE7 on Catalyst 3560s and 3750sIs there a way to manually run the script? Did I miss anything in the configuration?
In my ongoing project i need to monitor cisco 3750-X port status (uplink/downlink) i.e. whenever there is some problem at a specific port. I need to monitor it through an OPC server and right now what i am doing is as follows: i am using Kepserver and i have added SNMP driver in it for that purpose i am not a networking expert but what i have learnt till now is that SNMP agent (that resides in switch) delivers the status of MIBs to SNMP manager ( which in my case is kepserver (opc server)) for the above purpose i am adding IF-MIB to monitor OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8 (which shows port statuses) but when i add that in OPC server then it indicated that this OID is not available in the Switch ( it might be disabled) so i need to ask if there is any way to enable OID's in a switch,

I am cascading one new switch 3750G (int Gi1/0/1) with an existing 3750G (int fa1/0/26) switch.. But the interface fa1/0/26 goes in err-disable state even after NO SH.. also i have diable Spanning treebpdu guard and disable spanning tree portfast. But still the issue is not resolved.
After reboot WLC , the switch port was err-disable , the cause is link flap after we reboot 3 times , the switch port link flap err-disable every time? We don't know why the WLC rebboot will cause it , it just normal action on device the WLC version is 7.4.100.0 link switch with access port , no port channel , no portfast.
I have a question regarding uplink ports on a switch. Specifically the SFP+ variety. Could these uplink ports be used to connect directly to a fileserver? To be more specific, would the uplink port on the HP 3800 Switches connect directly to a file server that has the SFP+ card installed?
Basically what is the difference. I'm looking at a breakdown of all the components connected to my switches I noticed half of them about are listing their port all the same as GI1/0/1 (routing port?). Then the rest are all different ports FA1/0/assigned# or FA2/0/assigned# (switch ports?).which are routing or switch ports and why certain ones are under each. It doesnt seem to matter which component it is (computer or printer) because some of each are under routing or switch ports.
My university provides one Ethernet port per student in dorm rooms. They assign IP addresses based on which port you connect to and forbid multiple computers connected to the one port using a hub or switch.DHCP leases are 24 hours long, but you can switch out 10 different devices with different MAC addresses and keep getting the same IP. How does this work? Do they just figure that if you're using a hub connecting multiple stations to the one port that they don't care if there's a conflict?

I have a 2811 router with a 9 port switch module and a four port ISDN module. The ISDN Module is our connection to the outside world. FE 0/0 and FE 0/1 are connected to separate networks and both route our the ISDN connections.We are getting a new satcom system that consists of a modem, antenna control unit (ACU), and an antenna. The ACU and the modem communicate accross Ethernet and are generally hooked to a switch. Anything computer hooked to the switch can simply use the modem IP as it's gateway and be surfing the Internet without much hassle (just need the correct DNS addresses).I'd like the networks behind FE 0/0 and FE 0/1 to be able to route out the satellite modem for their Internet connection -- when the satellite is available. Is it possible to put two switch ports in a VLAN (one for the modem and one for the ACU), give the VLAN an IP in the same subnet as the modem and ACU, and then tell the router to route traffic out the modem IP address ?
I like the SG-300 switches for SMB and I'd like use them in our network. Design is quite simple just 6 SG-300 switches connected to one central switch using SFP ports (using 2 port trunks) so I need 12 SFP ports and this is my question. Could you recomend me switch with more then 12 SFP ports from Cisco for this SMB network ? I don't know all the Cisco product lines and I can't find it.

In my 3750 stack switch there are more than 10 L3 vlans currently in use.In that only one vlan for example vlan 11 (we given up link directly to the nodes connected to that ports which is in vlan 11)losing connectivity for sometime and again connectivity restored.Except Vlan 11 all other vlans are working fine. When we troubleshooted the issue some of the ip's able to ping and some not able to ping. checked the interface status of that ports (no crc and input errors) and port is in up status only.we also checked cpu utlilisation ,device uptime, all are no issues found. am sharing my sw basic config and one interface status at the time of issue.But only one port learning more than 50 Mac-Addresses dynamically.and am learning mac address violation in another port which is port security and storm control enabled on that port..Its seems to be any attack or something else????

Can a router connect to a switch to gain additional ports (to both access the internet AND to maintain an internal / home network)?IP line to house, connected to modem, connected to 4-port router, connected to 8-port switch. Now, each of six rooms in my house has one Cat-5e (RJ-45) jack whose run terminates to the switch. In some of these rooms, I need two wired devices (wireless isn't an option for the devices). Can I use the LAN port of a spare, wireless router (to also use as an access point for cell phones, etc) to plug into the jack and increase the number of ports in that room to have a functional LAN and WAN? I have read tons of info on plugging switches into routers to increase the number of ports, but not the other way around. Plus, ripping open walls to expand the network isn't feasible either. My other thought, would be to replace the switch with another (2nd) router, by connecting the 1st and 2nd routers together, and have the runs terminate to the open LAN ports of both routers --= and then expand the ports in those rooms by also using additional, spare wireless routers.
The default Gateway and DHCP server is connected to port 1 of the switch. I have various other devices on the network plugged into other ports on the switch.I want port 1 to communicate with every port on the switch, but don't want the other ports to be able to see eachother unless I specifically allow them to. For example, port 5 should see port 1, and 7, but nothing else.Everything needs to be in the same subnet. With the older Dlink switches I am used to this feature is called "Port Segmentation" but I see no such option in this switch. I have been playing with the VLAN settings but so far I have not been able to achieve this.

I have a statck of 4 2960s switches, with POE powered access points on 2 of them. All of the access points appear to be functioning normally. For some reason, on 3 interfaces connected to access points, I get the following when issuing show interfaces status:

My question is regarding the "T" in the status field. I can't find any documentation on this.
I've been tasked with finding all switch ports that are configured as Trunks. We plan to use LMS 4.2 to push (via Netconfig) new interface level commands to all user (non-trunked) ports. From my experience, this poses a problem because we do not know which ports are configured as trunks -vs- user ports.
Using Netconfig is not going to be easy since there is no way to script this. It would be great if I could run a show command on a switch and then have CWSI peform a change based upon the output.In other words, we need a way to run a job based upon the output of a command.
I was viewing the 3560x switch datasheet and i need network module C3KX-NM-10G. I have dark fiber with over 12 km distance to i guess i will be needing SFP EX for single mode.
I have 2 3550's connected across a wireless link. [code] However, from Switch A, I cannot reach 10.1.3.9Can this 3550 not route traffic between 2 routed ports?
