I recently got the sbg6580 an want it to work in bridged mode with my linksys wrt54g router. The problem is everything that is connected wirelessly like my Xbox or iPhone are connected to the Internet but my desktop pc which is a wired connection won't connect to the Internet. When I directly connect the modem to my desktop it works fine.
Acer aspire 7741Z-4633 with windows 7 connects wireless to sbg6580 gateway that was just installed, but no internet access. able to connect other devices.
I'm trying to connect my WAG160N as a ADSL modem (disable the router function) and connect a real router (RVS4000)So, i put my WAG160N on birdged mode only, disable the DHCP on my RVS4000, i did configure my PPPOE access (user and password), change the IP adress 192.168.0.2.configure the DHCP and try to connect. i tryed to connect the RVS4000 and the WAG160N either with cross cable or a direct cable. I can get access to the RVS4000 192.168.0.2 and get access to the configuration menu but cannot get access to my WAG160N 192.168.0.1 even a simple ping.when i try to test the connection on my RVS4000 (status) it seems that my connection is up but i cannot get access to internet.
Here is my current setup.I have a desktop CPU (without monitor) and a Acer D270 netbook.Desktop CPU has XP (SP3) and Netbook has XP SP3 and Win 7 (Dual boot).I wish to setup a LAN so I can access and view my desktop PC which is more powerful than my netbook. How do I setup the LAN connection or use remote desktop? I have a lengthy crossover cable ready (2 sided RJ45 cable). A detailed description so I can follow the procedure to setup at my place. Regarding performance, how good will it be. The CPU has NVidia Graphics card.

My client has a ~6 year old dell xps which up until about two weeks ago connected to the internet fine with a netgear usb wireless adapter (it is a desktop). When that stopped working, she ordered a Rosewill RNX-N300X (my suggestion) and I installed it.I got the driver installed and everything, it connects to the router without a problem. Her laptop also connects wirelessly to the router just fine and can browse the web without a problem. The desktop however, even when connected to the router, refuses to access the internet. I was thinking the problem was DNS related because I can ping any ip address in cmd, but can't ping actual websites like [url]... or [url]... The problem is, when I manually change the dns servers in the wireless connection properties, it disables dhcp and will not connect to the internet. Here are the ipconfig /all results for the laptop which works:

My son is getting a Cyberpower PC Black Gamer Ultra Gua250 Desktop for Christmas. It comes with only a 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet. Is there a product I can purchase to connect his pc to our DSL without having to run an ethernet cable all through the house?
Actually i was having an windows 2003 server with an public ip at my office... i had hosted a new site into that server ( iis ) in order to open the site it needs a vpn connection to read database remotely! now the problem here is after giving vpn connection i was unable to connect to the server through remote desktop from my home! if i need to connect to the server i need to setup the vpn connection at home also.. so is there any solution on how to connect to remote desktop even if vpn is connected.!
My desktop however, does not have built-in wireless and therefore would have to connect to the ADSL router (Netgear) through ethernet but this cannot be done as the router must remain in my bedroom, much too far away for cables to reach.I bought a USB wireless connecter for the desktop but it doesn't seem to work. It connects but gives "Local Only" as the connection.
I have a desktop computer connected to a modem and a wireless Belkin router. I bought a Belkin Surf&Share wireless USB adapter so that I could move the desktop elsewhere in the house and still connect to the internet. When I disconnect the computer from the router, the wireless light on the router turns red and I can't connect.
I successfully connected to my windows xp pc through the remote desktop connection client on my macbook and now I am unable to connect to the internet on the pc. All that it says is acquiring network address. I know that it is not an isp or router issue because all of the other computers on the network are able to connect just fine. I tried using system restore but it said something to the effect of windows can not restore to this point, no changes were made to your computer. This happened with multiple different restore points.
i am connecting my laptop and desktop for file transfers. Both have win XP. i have a airtel modem and i use a cable to connect my laptop or desktop to that modem for internet. Both work fine with the modem and i dont have nay problem in connecting to internet. I am using the same cable to connect the laptop n desktop and i receive message "A network cable is unplugged". Is it that i cannot use this cable for this purpose or something else? the data cabel reads: "Data cable CAT.5 UTP 26AWG 2pair AWM PVC 75deg C EIA/TIA 568B"

I have a desktop connected to our work network. It's running XP Pro. I also have a laptop running vista home. Is there a way to hardwire that laptop to the desktop, so i can share files between those two computers, while ALSO keeping my desktop connected to my office network?Since it's vista home, I can't connect the laptop to our network, since it can only connect in workgroups, not networks. But if I'm just able to just use the laptop, create files, and then either save them to a shared folder with my desktop or just save them to the desktop with a switch or something, it wouldn't be a problem that my laptop can't connect to the network.
At work we have an existing wireless network with with a lot of wireless pc's and devices connected to it.. We want to however connect 2 desktop pc's to the same network so that they have internet access also. These 2 desktops have been connected to the wireless router via wireless dongles, but due to some office arrangements we have to move them to a different office in the building where there is network ports available.I plugged in a D-Link 5-port Gigabit desktop switch to the network point in the office the 2 desktop pc's are moving to and tested it with my laptop (with wireless disabled) to see if everything is working. The LAN seems to be working fine, but when I want to connect to the internet.. it seems something is wrong.
I just installed windows 7 into my computer and I need to verify my copy of windows. I tried connect my Ethernet wire from my computer to the wireless router but it's not connecting or registering. The wireless router is a WRT54G and I can access the device ip for it but I don't know how to assign an IP address for the new computer. I already had a computer (wired) and a laptop (wireless) connected to the router. I'm using a straight trough Ethernet wire Doing the steps in the sticied post below didn't work because typing ipconfig /release didn't work?
I own a laptop and a desktop, and I use my DIR-600 to connect them both to the internet, using a PPPoE connection. After "repairing" the Desktop (by booting via Windows XP CD) my PC just stopped connecting to the internet. I had rested the router, then configuring it again. Still same issue. Wireless works perfectly. Direct connection.
I am having internet connected to my Desktop with Win XP. Internet mode is Wireless Data Card that can be inserted into USB port. Now I have a laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. I was able to connect both of them using ethernet cross over cable and successfully enabled file sharing through Local Area Network. But I want to access Internet from the laptop. Is it possible?
FYI, when I typed ipconfig in cmd prompt in desktop, PPP adapter High Speed Data: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
My PC can't seem to keep the wireless connection for longer than a few seconds without it trying to reconnect and eventually drop again. Other family members' PCs don't seem to have this problem and my laptop also has a stable connection. I used to have no problem connecting, but this problem arose one day. My house uses Verizon FIoS, the router is a Netgear R3600 and my PC uses AVG.
The picture has the signal showing up, but then it disappears seconds later only to reappear again.
I have a dell desktop that uses Windows XP. Today I was cleaning out some unwanted programs that I never use and just take up space. But I don't know if I deleted something that I shouldn't have, or what happened but I am now unable to use my wireless internet. It says that a "network cable is unplugged". I have checked my modem and it is working fine. My brother is receiving internet in is laptop.
I bought a netgear n600 wnda3100vs wifi adapter for my desktop.I installed it and everything. Now when I try to connect, it finds my router, but for some reason it will not connect. My router is a 2wire that runs on 802.11g[CODE]
Model SBG6580 dropped offline last night. I called Charter my ISP. The Modem IP address has changed. I get no internet connectivity. Computer appears to connect to the network but ID' s it as an unidentified network. I have tried to connect both WIFI and wired.[CODE]
i just recently upgraded to Road Runner Extreme which Uses DOCSIS 3.0 SBG6580 Modem and i was wondering what internal settings i should use to maximize my speeds and online gameplay. I'm running a Ethernet line into my Xbox360 and wireless for my laptop. Also, i was told that Road Runner Extreme would get me 35Mbps downstream and 5Mbps Upstream, yet these are the speed test's i'm getting [URL]
I have a broadband Motorola SBG6580 cablemodem that feeds internet into my main home computer via a cable. The modem is also a wireless router. The modem is in an "office-room" inside my house. The main bedroom is located about 25 meters, with two bedrooms in between the office-room and the main bedroom.I broke a leg so I figured I could work on bed, but I have this problem: the signal from the motorola wireless router is so low at the main bedroom that the connection drops all the time. Oddly (or maybe not), I can see like 10 other access points, presumably from my neighbors, all with a full signal. And I live in a "full-floor" apartment so I only have neighbors above and below.I connected a linksys WRT54G2 that I have and I get the exact same problem.
I have a Motorola SBG6580 wireless gateway/router and am happy with it in general. I had a 192.168.2.n subnet with old Linksys but I find that I cannot change the MOT from its pre-set 192.168.0.n net to the ..2.net because it conflicts with a "private LAN" in the same range. How do I change the provate lan to, for example, ..9.n so I can use the ...2.n net? I'm running with the ..0.n now, just fine, but, I VPN into office and primary net there is ..0.n and so is confusing with IP shortcuts/conflicts. how to make the change?
