I have a Kindle Fire whose wifi is infrastructure mode and my HTC Hero smart phone which is ad-hoc. Can I use a router or bridge to allow these 2 to talk to each other ?
View 12 RepliesI just purchased a Linksys EA 4500.I set up the wifi properly, with laptops, tablets, smartphones and printer. The wifi network worked fine for a couple of days.But now one of the laptop "refuses" to see the Linksys wifi network. The other devices are still connected and running regularly.
The notebook that does not connect anymore is an ACER 5740DG with an Atheros Network adapter and Windows 7 installed. This notebook is otherwise running fine.At the beginning it was connecting ok and we never had any problem at all with the previous router Belkin_N+_7991AC, that I changed just for speed.
Now the Linksys network is simply not visible to such notebook in the "Available Connections List" that I get clicking on the WiFi icon in the bottom right, while a number of other wifi networks (not mine) are clearly visible. Of course I restarted the notebook properly. For one time I got the visibility of the Linksys, I entered the password and then it was not possible to see the network anymore.No error message from Smart WiFi software.
I am having trouble connecting my device to certain WiFi networks. We work with hotels and we have a handful of devices that are just not able to connect to their network. Te device works fine in my office. When I get to the Setup page and do a site survey, it'll get to 100% and then display a "page can't be found" as oppose to showing me that it has been connected. We had the MAC address cleared in their network and still no luck. Firmware has also been updated.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWe have a Prime LMS and a Prime NCS instance running. At the moment, instead of having the 2 systems do device discovery independantly, I thought a good way to set things up would be for LMS to do all of the discovery, and then export the DCR from LMS into NCS.
Now doing this manually in a cinch, but I'd like to automate the process. LMS has some nice scripting features that allows me to easily use the 'dcrcli' script to export a CSV file of the all of devices and credentials, which can be put in a format that NCS can bulk import. I plan to do this on a regular basis using a cron entry.
What I can't seem to find is any documentation on how I might be able to achieve the import piece of the puzzle on the NCS box. Are there command line utilities as with LMS that would allow me to import devices, and put the scripting into a cron file to do on a regular basis?
I have problems with setting the snmp retry / timeout parameters for our devices. I managed to import our devices with bulk import , but after it I realized that for some devices the snmp retry / timeout values were different ( created the bulk file with 3 retries and 30 sec timeout , but in the system the appear with 2 retries and 1 sec timeout). I tried to change it manually , but after a while it goes back to the wrong values.

All works fine except that the device name that appears under "Network Infrastructure" in Windows 7 shows the original default name that Cisco assigned instead of the name I chose. It does not affect operation or performance but looks oddball. I don't see how it can be changed.

1) Physical Reset of SR520-FE to factory defaults
2) Run CCA 3.1(1) and connect to 192.168.75.1 using the default cisco/cisco login
3) Under the Home Menu, click the Device Setup Wizard
4) In Step 1, sellect the SR520 and observe that there is also a photograph of the SR520-FE(W) model displayed as feedback for Step 1
5) Try variations of Steps 2 through 4
Note: Step 4 has a problem because it says to plug the power into the device, but if the power was not already plugged in to begin with, we could not run the Device Setup Wizard in the first place.
6) Step 5 prompts for a user name and password.
BUG: No permutations of the documented default usernames and passwords "cisco" or "admin" work. The result is always the error dialog:Device Connectivity Status - "Failure: Not Connected.""Return to Step 1. Make sure that your PC is not connected to a network and you follow all the instructions."A search of the web indicates others are also had this unresolved issue with previous CCA releases.
we just replace 6500 with N7K, after migration there're some device (server,pc,printer) change its ip address configuration (subnet and gateway) by it self. can N7K did it?

Need to clarify the cabling of the two cables between two switches? I only have one machine with a serial port and whenever I try to connect to a router (I've tried multiple purchased from different sources) nothing happens on the screen. If I wait for a couple of seconds and hit enter I get the response shown on the screen in the screenshot I have inserted. If this image is too small I have also attached. looks like it has already asked me this but I am unable to see it. Shouldn't I see some information when I attempt to connect, some acknowledgement that I have connected? I have tried using both hyperterminal anbd PuTTy.

I've tried with reseting device to default but no success, even more when i plug ethernet cable to AP port nothing happens even NIC led's are not blinking at all.
On CLI console i am seeing repeated constantly such entries:

I am currently working on a job that has roadside equipment sending in data to an office-based instation server via a private APN. This is currently working fine and data is being received. However, for maintenance reasons its is necessary to connect from the instation server back out to the roadside equipment's web GUI. Currently this isn't working! I think this is because they are on different IP ranges. [code] I've tried messing about with adding routes and changing the mask address but so far have had no luck.

The first router is connected to 3 devices via ethernet, and the 4th port is connected to my other e4200v2 which is set as bridge mode. The main router is at one end of the house, the second bridge mode router is at the other end.My wireless devices are connected to the main e4200v2, along with all the wired clients.
When wirelessly connected to the 2nd e4200 (the bridged one) I cannot connect to or ping any wireless clients that are connected to the main router. (For example, in my bedroom I am connected with my computer to the 2nd bridged router, and I am trying to ping my other computer that is wireless connected to the main router. I am unable to ping to this computer. When I am conected wirelessIy to the mian router, than I am able to ping the other wireless computer on the same router. Note:I am able to access any hard wired devices to the main router, regardless of which router I am connected to. The issue only appears to be when trying to connect to a wireless device that is connected to a different router than the device I am connecting from.Both routers are setup on the same subnet mask with firmware Ver.2.1.39.145204
I'm configuring a console server for configuring remote devices. This is working well except for the fact that if a target device is in ROMMON mode, the console server refuses to displays the target device console. It does open the connection but the ROMMON prompt is not shown on the console server . This is essential for this device as we will need to use it to reset passwords remotely and thus need to be able to access ROMMON mode from the console server.

I have a 512MB USB Flash device and was able to boot the IOS on the C2960 from it.After that i tried to Copy the IOS file from the USB to the system flash, but it could not find the USB Device.At plugging in the device the systems tells me: "Transfer type 2 not supported" I configured the USB device in NTFS and FAT both are able to boot with the ROMMON, but the normal system does not accept them and i know i can do the copy over a TFTP from my laptop, but it is strange that rommon accepts the usb device and the system does not?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently a student in a computer repair class and have recieved an assignment for troubleshooting a network through a Sprint overdrive device. The current setup in the room (which worked with a previous device but not the same model) is the internet going into the server VIA ethernet port and sent back out through the server into a switch. From there it connects to another switch that connects roughly 10 computers. The overdrive device is a WiFi hotspot device and the director of the network wants me to make the network with the ability of connecting to the internet through the Device. We have placed a Wireless USB device on the server to recieve the signal from the Overdrive device. The server can connect to the internet. When we try to send the signal out from the server we get a IP conflict. I have tried switching the IP's and still do not get it to work.

Other problem is that when I want to go to my modem web panel by entering 192.168.1.1 in my browser, I see it tries to connect to other modems and if I enter default user/pass I can log into other peoples modem! Is that my ISP fault for misconfiguration?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI just got new roommates and the internet on his computer would only load facebook and google. NOTHING else. It said he has internet connection but it still wouldn't work. I even called my internet provider and they couldn't figure it out. His internet worked perfectly fine when it was on safe mode with networking. I even disabled his firewalls and I ran malewarebytes but found nothing. I thought this was just his computer but then a day later my computer is doing the same thing! my computer has worked perfectly fine for over a year on the same router and everything but now it has the same exact symptoms as his. I don't know if this is a router issue or not. .

Since the SFP has LC Connector, i suppose i need to have an SC-LC Cable for connecting the Ethernet link. Do i need anything else, apart from above?
We have a few 1500 outdoor mesh ap's. 1262N are used to link to these 1500 and extend the coverage to places. All 1262 was configured as mesh. But upon installation, none of them actually register to the controller and join the other mesh ap's. They should be joining to the 1500's.
On testing, the 1500 joins the 1262N as mesh. however the 1262N does not join the 1500 as mesh even though the distance is less than 20m.
I have a compaq laptop running Vista. We recently had our Uverse wireless router/modem replaced. Now my laptop will not connect to the internet. The laptop connects to the router but shows up as local connection only. Uverse tried all kinds of differant things to no avail. The laptop will hookup with a USB modem but I would like to get it back to how it was before.

I thought i was havng problems with the repeater after i change from router to a server, (and i'm now using a router in bridge mode) so the server is managing all the dhcp.. etc, Hence, the router is Running as an access point. The server which is a Hotspot Server does the rest. For some reason, repeaters, do connect to the access point apparently, but when connecting the client to the repeater (instead of access point) I can't get internet access. although i do get access to the repeater setup.and access point setup too.. or if that is the fact that repeaters must be connected to a router, not access point? should I use it as a WDS? or AP-wds? I have a Cisco Lynksys e1200 router (which i'm using as access point) and an Encore ENXWI-1AN45 3 in one range extender?

I can get access to the RVS4000 192.168.0.2 and get access to the configuration menu but cannot get access to my WAG160N 192.168.0.1 even a simple ping.when i try to test the connection on my RVS4000 (status) it seems that my connection is up but i cannot get access to internet.

View 3 Replies View RelatedLast week I purchased the E4200 and for simplicity, I configured it with basic settings using Cisco Connect. Today, I went into the web interface. The only thing I did was review settings and get the Routers PIN (it appears that Intel Chipset cards on Windows requires this PIN?) Close the browser (did not save any settings) and now I am completely locked out of the device. Cannot connect does not accept the wireless password. I hard reset the device, ran through the wizard. Everything was working again. Launch the browser and connected to the device closing window and balm?
