I have a modem and it has these inserts on the back called LAN and only one brings the internet to my computer and i have a xbox 360 and i want both to be able to get to the internet not just one or th other how can i fix this?
View 4 RepliesHave installed an 887VA on the end of a ADSL connection. The provider has specified EF 150 on the link. The router is configured using a Virtual Template.
If the Virtual Template has a service policy applied, we don't have connectivity to their main site - although the CD and PPP lights are lit. As soon as the service policy is removed, we have connectivity.
We've had three sites with the same problem. Two of the sites don't have QoS specified on the link but had the same problem if the service policy was applied.

when I ping another workstation on my local network I should get back it's local IP but instead I am getting an ip address that resolves to somewhere in Germany! In fact if I ping any bogus name, I mean anything, it returns this same address 62.116.181.25. If I shut down my cable modem then everything resolves correctly. And yes I have DNS relay enabled because it seems to be the only way to get the workstations to resolve external sites correctly.

The router I have connected is fine and the laptops and xbox that I am trying to get internet on connect to the router but will not connect to the internet. When I attempt to connect i can only connect to the "local" connection. Everyone else in my family can connect via wireless and I can only connect if i use an ethernet cable which is directly connected to my laptop.When i typed in ipconfig/all on the command prompt this is what pops up :

Alright so, for the past few weeks, the modem has been resetting itself, by that I mean, I am browsing the net/playing something, then the four lights turn into 1 blinking.. then 2 blinking.. then 3 blinking.. then return to 4 lights and I get my connection back, this is happening every 5-10 minutes and terminates game sessions.

The 'CDMA' internet connection works well from one pc, but, it doesn't show up under networks, so I can't seem to do anything with it. My dial-up connection just couldn't handle all the garbage they try to push down through your internet connection these days.
Well, yesterday my new ZyXEL PK5000z modem was delivered, so I followed the instructions and hooked it up to one of my computers. All the lights on the front of the modem turned green, but I was unable to connect to the internet from the computer I had the modem connected to.I tried disabling my software firewall and my LAN, to no avail.I called CenturyLink tech support and they told me that from their end they could see that my modem was working just fine, so the problem was in my computer and so I'm on my own trying to make it work.
The computer I've connected the DSL modem to is a Dell Inspiron 1150 running Windows XP Home.I have that computer connected to two other computers via a network switch and have a dial-up modem installed on it.
I've been recently having problems with my modem, the DSL light shuts off even if my cable is correctly connected to my phone socket. This mostly happens when I'm playing games.
View 3 Replies View Relatedmy internet modem dc quite often i mean sometimes its 1 or 2 hours sometimes its not, so we are planning to switch the modem soon, but before that i found out something strange, its like in order for us to reconnect back to internet we have to reset the modem, heres the thing. after reset, my brother's pc will immediately connects back to teh internet, but mine pc wouldnt, i meanmy skype will work i can tlk to my friends on it and such, but i have to wait for like 5 mins or so to resume back to the net on firefox/ other internet dependent program, just not skype though.

View 4 Replies View RelatedFor several years I was connected to the internet via a USB modem (with TalkTalk being my ISP), however, after purchasing a laptop with Wi-Fi for my partner's daughter, decided it was time to get a router so we could all use the internet.I purchased a Netgear N150 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router, model DGN1000, connected (via ethernet as the desktop has no wireless receiver) and installed it as per instructions supplied.However since that point I have been unable to connect to the internet on my desktop through the router. Wireless devices (several laptops, iPhones and games consoles) have no issues whatsoever in connecting and using the internet.
At first the desktop kept saying that I had "limited or no connectivity" which I eventually sorted out, there was some kind of issue with my IP address, but I can't remember what now. Now I when I try to load any website, Internet explorer tells me it couldn't load the page due to .... Google Chrome is more specific and tells me that the DNS lookup failed. I have tried updating the ethernet controller driver, using the 'flushdns' command, and after discovering many other people on TalkTalk tech forums having similar DNS issues, tried using DNS addresses that were suggested by both their support staff and members of the public (i.e. Google's DNS 8.8.8.8), and still nothing. If I reconnect my USB modem I can connect to the internet no problem, but I'd prefer to only have one modem on the go.I am running a HP Pavilion with Win XP (SP2), and all the laptops that have connected wirelessly (including the one I'm using now) are running Vista.
In the past week I have been getting totally random disconnects from my modem. Sometimes it works great, other times it will essentially cease to function as it tries to sync to bells lines, it seems to be worse at night from what I've seen. I have called my ISP over 4 times, had 3 separate techs come to my house and replace everything from the router to the Internet port down the road.The only thing that has not been replaced is the actual phone jack in my wall but every tech has looked at it and said its functioning fine. I am at a loss, and on the verge of canceling my service with my ISP at this point. Problem is I cannot get rogers for various reasons, so bell is my only option for high speed internet, so canceling with them sorts leaves me high and dry.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe inet was working through the router (we get it off our neighbours), now our neighbour is our grandad and he doesnt use the internet (his daughters do but they left home). So we decided to take the router around to our house because the signal would always be very weak in our house (but it worked.) So we connected an ethernet cable, that goes through the roof of both houses attics and into my room, and plugged the router in there. back in the other house, the wire is going into the modem.
So we have the modem in one house, with a big wire going to my house into the router. We turn it on and it works, for like 3 seconds then suddenly, we get the message "No internet access" and "limited internet access" on our XP and windows 7 laptops. On the windows 7 it shows a small yellow triangle symbol with an exclamation mark on the bars too.So I tried turning off firewall, and resetting router and all that, plugging it into modem (which I'm doing now) and have narrowed it down to something to do with the routers settings, because it works fine through the modem. and its nothing to do with the router being in the other house because we even brough the router back and its doing the same thing.I dont understand why something would go wrong just by unplugging the router because nothing was changed. My housemate just got a second hand laptop which i restored to factory settings for him. the computer is running windows vista and everything is working fine, however the computer will connect to the wireless network but wont get any internet. the network itself is fine as we already have 3 computers connected to the internet with no problems.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I looked up the internet connection status, for the packets that I received 236, I only receive 30-40. When I click repair, it said the IP address already renewed. However, the internet still not working. When I use my laptop to browse the internet, it said the same thing, internet connected but cannot browse at all.
I tried so many things, such as clearing the DNS cache, releasing and renewing IP address, I did set the properties of the wireless connection to obtain DNS and IP automatically, I tried pinging, I turned off all my firewalls, I tried system restore, but still not working.
I run cmd /all, it got the following information:

From last two days, my internet disconnecting frequently. Modem catching correct ip but no internet connection.modem catches correct ip address n other things, it shows connected to home network (i.e hathway) and internet access is allowed but browser display error 'webpage is not available' (same result for login page of ISP). I have tried different browsers but same result. windows network diagnosis center results as "your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource is not responding " OR "login.hathway.com is online but still not responding after couple of tries"(second error is not correct word to word tht was the over all meaning of it)In ping test, ping to default gateway gives very good result as 5-20ms but 'request time out' for url...So am not understanding whether it is my pc's problem or from ISP.I m using single pc with wired modem. windows 7 no changes made in network n sharing center.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have asked this question to an internet service provider and 2 different techs at two differnt computer stores and no one has an answer for me. What is happening is just a few computers you plug them into dsl just through the modem the phone company uses and you cannont get on the internet, you get no internet connection, But you plug the same computer into a router that is connected even to the same modem to get the dsl and it will work right away. Now I understand that the router acts as a dhcp server and the computer is getting its ip address from it, but why won't it pick up one from the modem without the router? When this happens and it is not very often you can use the same modem with the same cabling and plug in another computer and it will get online right away so it is not the modem that is bad and not the cabling.
We had this problem about a year ago with like 5 computers. would not get on dsl, online through the telephone companies modem how ever you would use the same modem and plug it into a router and you could get online right away. At that time the telephone company had a real old DHCP server and the date and time and everything was wrong on it I suppose the battery was bad but they did away with it and use a differnt one going through Netins internet service provider. At that time before they did away with the dhcp server I had called netins and told them the problem they didn't no what was wrong and like I said I spoke with two other techs from two other computer stores and they had never heard of the problem, well now he is having the same problem with two laptops, I was just there today and saw they couldn't get online but you could plug another laptop into the same modem and it would get online with no problem, I took the laptop home and hooked it through my router and it got online right away. So I told him I tnought it was something with there dhcp server that the laptop wasn't getting an ip address from it but then why would another laptop getting plugged into the same modem in a few min get right online.
