Unable To Turn On Network Discovery?

Aug 22, 2011

Whenever I select it and apply changes, then reopen, it has reverted back to the off position. I have removed all firewalls and software that could interact with it (disconnected it from the network whilst in this state). I have set the correct services to automatic as they should be. It is getting rather frustrating not being able to share my media across the home network. I can see and utilise other computers media but none can utilise said computers media

Cisco Wireless :: 5508 - Remote Network / AP Discovery Automation

Mar 18, 2012

I am in the process of turning our autonomous wireless network into a centrally managed lwapp network. We have a new 5508 with 1140 series APs which will be distributed in three locations nationwide.

My manager saw a presentation that showed the AP just getting plugged in and all of its configurations were downloaded. Right now I am able to get basic global information to install on an AP in the local network but I feel I am missing something. If I have three locations using different IP schemes (eg: 10.0.1.0 for A, 10.0.2.0 for B and 10.0.3.0 for C), the remote locations are getting their DHCP info from the routers.

Is there a way based on location/IP that the APs associate themselves with the correct WLAN or AP group? How much can I automate once the AP discovers the controller? I am reading the manual and searching the web but information is a bit vauge on this. My plan is if an AP fails in a remote location, all I need to do is ship a new AP out to be replaced and when the AP is added to the network the firmware and other information is downloaded and is then ready to be accessed with minimal configuration on the controller end.

Network :: Internet Doesn't Completely Turn Off?

Aug 8, 2011

I'm on a home computer and we use a router to deliver internet connection to the multiple computers in our house. However, lately I have been noticing that occasionally one of the computer's, on the network, internet connection drops but yet all the other computers are still working fine with their internet connection. And the internet doesn't completely turn off, like there is no "X" on the two computer screens down below...it just loses its little globe icon...In order to get back the internet, you would have to basically disconnect from the internet connection network and then go back into it and it's back again.

I was wondering, because I'm starting to get suspicious, is it possible that somebody on the network in my house the deliberately found a way to turn of the internet access for one of the computers? I was alerted by checking different websites that it is possible that somebody on your own home network can "hack" into another computer, view its internet history, and even disable internet. How do I know this is happening for sure and take steps to stop it. I want to catch who is doing this because nobody is telling the truth .

Turn A Wifi Connection Into The Network's Internet Gateway?

Jan 25, 2013

Anyway, a neighbour is letting us share their broadband by way of a wifi connection (on a very long USB lead into the front garden...) but this only works on one PC.The PC is right next to the Orange router (Brightbox) but so far I've failed to do anything like bridge the connections from wifi to ethernet to the router and beyond. Should I persevere with this? I don't understand how this would work in terms of DHCP and routing IP traffic.I'm prepared to buy new kit if necessary (but not much). Most of my equipment is wifi enabled but due to the signal strength of my neighbour's wifi you have to be on the front lawn to get a signal.

D-Link DCS Network Camera :: 5220 - Turn Off LED Indicator Completely Ignored

Jan 15, 2009

We have a new DCS-5220 that we're playing with, seeing what we can do with it, and have a number of questions as well as one possible bug to report.  I was somewhat surprised when tier 3 support said this was the best place to cover them all - including the bug.We are using firmware version 1.02, which is what the camera came with.

In the webgui, under Configuration > Tools > System > "Turn off the LED indicator"  this is completely ignored by the camera.  The red power LED is always on, and the green status LED flashes as long as it has a network connection.  This is clearly a bug. What is the root password? Is there a URL we can pole for a static image?  (ie.url...  which would trigger a snapshot every time the URL is requested)Are there any shell commands for motor control?  If so, what are they?Is there a shell command to retrieve logged in users?  If so, what is it?Is there a shell command for controlling the LED activity? It would be really nice if the status LED lit green when there was someone logged on to the webgui.  Perhaps this is the intended activity, and it not doing so should be filed away as part of the above bug..

Quoted from manual: WIRELESS—The Wireless light is green when the wireless module is enabled. The light is off when the wireless module is disabled.

Moreover I tried to disable the "Radio" while enabled one AP, I found that I can still connect to that AP, so what is the Radio's Enable/Disable used for?

Cisco :: LMS 4.2 / W2K8 R2 - Discovery Not Working

Jul 12, 2012

LMS 4.2, W2K8 R2.I was having an issue with discovery adding devices to with corrupt information (seemingly random strings of characters in several fields).  While I was trying to clean this up a scheduled discovery kicked off and further exacerbated the issues I was having.  Frustrated, I deleted all entries from the discovery schedule until I could get things cleaned up.

Now I want to go back and troubleshoot the discovery process.  Trouble is, I can't get discovery to do anything anymore.  I disabled all modules but CDP.  I added a single seed IP address under the CDP configuration.  This is the address of a 3560V2 switch that is not in DCR.  When I started discovery it completed in about 2 seconds and didn't discover anything, including the seed device.  So I added another 3560V2 as a seed device under global settings.  Same results.  Thinking that it had been working using scheduled discovery, I set up a schedule and kicked it off that way.  Same results.  Finally I added one of these seed devices to DCR and let LMS fully learn about it.  Ran another discovery. Still no joy.

I started an SNMP debug on the seed devices before starting discovery.  I see the SNMP get coming from LMS, the switches respond and the discovery completes with 0 devices discovered.CS Discovery.log contains no meaningful information.  Only messages about "No appenders could be found for logger".

This seems like a bug as I had a LMS 4.0 evaluation installation a few months ago and device discovery was working fine meaning the devices were added immediately to the Inventory.

Cisco :: LMS 4.0 Reached Discovery For Devices

Jul 30, 2011

i am installing a CWLMS 4.0 and everything was good until i have reached the discovery for the devices, i am dealing with a bank setup and the branches is connected using layer 3 MPLS, branches are located behind the ISP router, so as a cdp neighbor i cant see anything but the ISP router  at my Core.

so i cant see the branches routers as neighbors to my (seed Device) Core, and i have tried to use the ping sweep and i could not reach them also. and also to add them manually as we were doing before in the earlier versions of CWLMS, using the Devices and Credintials, this option is removed from the LMS 4.0 as i have red in a document.

1- snmp is configured on all devices.
2- access-list is configured on all devices.
3- i am able to reach the LAN Devices without any problems and the configuration is the same on all of the devices.

Cisco :: Ping Sweep And Discovery In LMS 4.1

Jan 18, 2012

We are running CiscoPrime LMS 4.1 and I have a problem with PingSweep in Device Discovery. Our company's branches connect to the main site through GETVPN. Discovery through CDP, Routing Table and ARP cannot be used based on the document written by Joseph Clarke [URL] and which is extremely useful. So the only available option is PingSweep.

The loopback interfaces of all the remote GETVPN devices are in the same IP range, so this was configured in Module Settings --> Ping Sweep in the Discovery.

Unfortunately none of the devices get discovered, even though there is icmp connectivity from the server to the loopbacks.

Cisco :: LMS 4.1 / Device Discovery Not Working Correctly

Jan 18, 2012

we are running CiscoPrime LMS 4.1 and I have the following problem.I have configured SNMP Settings as shown below (the order of the targets is exactly as it is configured on the server):As can be seen we use three different read community strings. I also have exluded a bunch of IP ranges and IPs from the filter settings. When I manually start discovery everything works fine, meaning that all devices in the above ranges that need to be discovered are discovered as "reachable". The problem appears in the scheduled discovery (happens once daily). In that case only the devices with Read Community snmp1, get discovered as "reachable". All other devices with Read community snmp2 & snmp3, as well as those that are excluded in the filter settings, are discovered as "unreachable".The discovery uses DCR as seed and seed devices are also configured.I also have a problem with PingSweep in the discovery, but I will open another discussion so that I don't complicate this one too much.

Cisco :: LMS 4.2 Cannot Enable End Host Discovery On Trunk

Mar 2, 2013

I have noticed that our LMS does not collect any information about wireless users connected to autonomous access points, although I can see the mac address of the wireless users on the switch (2960) Trunk port connecting to the AP via CLI. I can also get the IP address from the core switch. Even after selecting 'Perform Data Collection' on the AP in the topology, the Wireless End hosts report remains blank.

I am trying to enable the option 'End host Discovery on Selected Trunks' in the 'Acquisition configuration in Trunk' menu and after selecting the switch where the AP resides and clicking 'show Trunk' I get the message 'there are no trunks in the device(s) selected', although there are several trunk ports on this switch, other than the one connecting to the AP. The switch and the AP are managed by LMS. We are facing this problem with all Autonomus APs. We do not use WLSE. Is there something missing to discover these Wireless hosts ?
