View 1 Replies View Relatedmy system's network discovery is always off even when i try to put it on again it goes back off immediately...can it be related to the firewall settings or wat else can be preventing it from coming on?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhenever I select it and apply changes, then reopen, it has reverted back to the off position. I have removed all firewalls and software that could interact with it (disconnected it from the network whilst in this state). I have set the correct services to automatic as they should be. It is getting rather frustrating not being able to share my media across the home network. I can see and utilise other computers media but none can utilise said computers media

I have on my second floor a "server" with an wifi usb adapter (Alfa AWUS036H) for internet access which shares the connection, the server is connected to the WAG200G and he is then connected finally to my home pc. So if i want internet i have to run that router and the server constantly. As i said it works great but i would like to eliminate the server so i dont have to turn it always on, are there any possibilities? Here is a picture which shows it all!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm on a home computer and we use a router to deliver internet connection to the multiple computers in our house. However, lately I have been noticing that occasionally one of the computer's, on the network, internet connection drops but yet all the other computers are still working fine with their internet connection. And the internet doesn't completely turn off, like there is no "X" on the two computer screens down below...it just loses its little globe icon...In order to get back the internet, you would have to basically disconnect from the internet connection network and then go back into it and it's back again.
I was wondering, because I'm starting to get suspicious, is it possible that somebody on the network in my house the deliberately found a way to turn of the internet access for one of the computers? I was alerted by checking different websites that it is possible that somebody on your own home network can "hack" into another computer, view its internet history, and even disable internet. How do I know this is happening for sure and take steps to stop it. I want to catch who is doing this because nobody is telling the truth .
Can I turn off the wireless network of linksys E4200 and use only the 4 ports? using the router like a 4 port switch?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyway, a neighbour is letting us share their broadband by way of a wifi connection (on a very long USB lead into the front garden...) but this only works on one PC.The PC is right next to the Orange router (Brightbox) but so far I've failed to do anything like bridge the connections from wifi to ethernet to the router and beyond. Should I persevere with this? I don't understand how this would work in terms of DHCP and routing IP traffic.I'm prepared to buy new kit if necessary (but not much). Most of my equipment is wifi enabled but due to the signal strength of my neighbour's wifi you have to be on the front lawn to get a signal.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have a new DCS-5220 that we're playing with, seeing what we can do with it, and have a number of questions as well as one possible bug to report. I was somewhat surprised when tier 3 support said this was the best place to cover them all - including the bug.We are using firmware version 1.02, which is what the camera came with.
In the webgui, under Configuration > Tools > System > "Turn off the LED indicator" this is completely ignored by the camera. The red power LED is always on, and the green status LED flashes as long as it has a network connection. This is clearly a bug. What is the root password? Is there a URL we can pole for a static image? (ie.url... which would trigger a snapshot every time the URL is requested)Are there any shell commands for motor control? If so, what are they?Is there a shell command to retrieve logged in users? If so, what is it?Is there a shell command for controlling the LED activity? It would be really nice if the status LED lit green when there was someone logged on to the webgui. Perhaps this is the intended activity, and it not doing so should be filed away as part of the above bug..
I got a problem with my setup main computer, It work wery god wireless, with very fine speed about 82 mbit in and 24 mbit out. The problem is that it almost dont work at all with cable, even if i turn off the wireless network, the speed is about 2-3 mbit in and about 6-7 mbit outAll other computers, tv. printer wireless work very fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using the RV220W with the latest firmware, I disabled all the four APs and also disabled the Radio, but the "Wireless" green light on the front panel still ON, why? How can I completely turn off the wireless?
Quoted from manual: WIRELESS—The Wireless light is green when the wireless module is enabled. The light is off when the wireless module is disabled.
Moreover I tried to disable the "Radio" while enabled one AP, I found that I can still connect to that AP, so what is the Radio's Enable/Disable used for?
For numerous reasons, I want to bind my DHCP clients to static IP addresses, but can't figure out how to do it in DD-WRT.
I've googled, but every link I click times out (for this specific search- my uplink is otherwise fine).
I know I can do it with hardcoded IPs, I'm just curious how static DHCP is done (and yes I am aware that Static is a contradiction in terms of DHCP. I want a given MAC to always get the same IP) and would like to have some info on this.
(call this reserved DHCP if you prefer... )
Out of all the computers in my house there is one computer that does not seem to be able to get an internet connection. Usally I would fire up the computer, then unplug and put back in the wireless device and it would start working but just recently no matter what I try it will not work. When I set the computer up to connect with a static ip, i get a local connection only (or at least thats what networking centre says) and when i rely on dhcp i get 'identifying network' forever. No network settings have been changed and I have tried an ethernet connection as well which also didn't work. I have tested the wireless device on another computer and it works fine.

I created an image for a Inspiron Desktop 560ST but when i tried to redeploy the image back on the exact same computer while connecting to WDS deployment service i get this error.

Our default IP is not a 169.xxx.xxx.xxx it is 172.xxx.xxx.xxx so thats obviously not right, and then I try typing ipconfig /renew and it waits a super long time and then i get Windows IP Configuration:An Error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.An error occurred while releasing interface LoopBack Pseudo-Interface 1 : The system can not find the file specified. This computer is part of a lab of about 25 computer and every other computer has no problems, even if i take the network cable out of this computer and plug it into the computer right next to it(I'm take it right from one computer to another, i'm not touching the switch end) the computer right next to it is fine. So its not the switch or the cable.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've done a very crude drawing of the network setup I'm working on. I just need to run an idea past some network guru's to see if I'm right about my idea.
The existing network consists of
Internet
Proxy Server
Several switches scattered around school
PC's
What the school wants to do is setup a side-along wireless network that uses the same physical switches but on a different subnet. The current subnet is 10.172.1.x .
To facilitate this I'm running a 2008r2 running RIP V2 to route internet traffic to 192.168.1.x subnet. I've had the wireless units use a static address and their own dhcp servers on the 192.168.1.x subnet. Wireless devices found their way to the internet fine. But I'd like to control the addresses from a single point of contact, hence the 2nd domain server running 2008r2. There are reasons for using a 2nd server, I've covered this in previous topics. If it's important, lets call it an intellectual exercise and leave it at that.
The question(s) : If I run a DHCP server on the 2nd server serving 192.168.1.x addresses, then any device on the physical network will obtain either an 192. or a 10. address correct ? The wireless devices will only take a 192. address because the wan address is statically assigned to a 192. address ?
The 2nd question : By setting a static routes out of the 2nd nic on the 2nd server, I can control the dhcp server so it will ONLY route dhcp requests to the statically assigned wireless devices ?

Now any device that connects via DHCP does not have access to the internet, though devices set up with a static IP outside the DHCP range still have full access. The devices connecting via DHCP still have full network access, just not internet access.I tried most of the obvious fixes (reboot, changing the range and lease time for the DHCP) but have at best received a temporary fix.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo have a wireless guest network on an N600 router. Here is my setup:
pf sense -> untangle -> switch <- N600
the N600 is just an access point and does no DHCP. The primary wireless network gets IP no problem but the guests are not getting an IP. I'm assuming the N600 has no way of issuing an IP on the guest network. how to set a DHCP server on the guest network and have a static route to the pfsense firewall from that network.
A little background on me: I do performance testing for a large corporation, so networking is like an old hat for me - but this has me spinning because it makes no logical sense to me.Here's the layout of my home network:CableModem(passthrough) -> WRT120N -> ENH200 (Access point) -> ENH200 (Client Bridge) -> Netgear N600Both the WRT120N and the Netgear N600 are providing wireless access to clients at both locations. N600 is set not to route or DHCP, and the WAN port isn't used.Initially the WRT120N wasn't in play because the cable modem was serving DHCP, but it wouldn't successfully send DHCP to most clients on the other side of the client bridge. So I installed the WRT120N (old, I know) and it was able to serve up DHCP to any and all systems... for a while. Now DHCP doesn't appear to be working fully again on the Netgear side of the bridge. One device registers in the WRT120N, the client list shows the mac as getting assigned an ID, but the device never actually pulls the address. Static works fine. Those that already have DHCP addresses work like a charm, so I know the link is stable. pingtest.net reports near perfection.

When I plug in my computer, the network adapter icon says Identifying for a while then settles on Unidentified Network with no internet access, the IP is 169.x.x.x.When I try to release and renew the IP, it says unable to contact your DHCP server, request has timed out".I've tried multiple Ethernet cables, both brand new.I tried connecting to a port in a friend's room in the same building, and even in a classroom on campus, and both had the same result.Naturally after all that I assumed my NIC somehow died overnight while I traveled here, so I went to a computer repair shop expecting to have some hardware replaced, but we plugged it in there and it worked immediately so they weren't sure what to tell me.
I've gone through pages of old threads at this forum and others like it, trying solutions but having no luck.I've power cycled my computer, obviously I can't power cycle the whole network as it's for 200 people, but the IT people here have tried resetting it for me on their end as best they can. This is rattling my brain. I have configured 2 SSIDs, one for internal, one for guests. They are on seperate VLANs (50 and 51) and bridge groups (1 and 2). I can get IPs via DHCP for the internal network, but not for the guest. I can't get DHCP for any VLAN 51 sub-interface, nor clients that connect to it. The overall goal is to keep all traffic on the guest network seperate from the internal traffic, however, DHCP requests will be from an internal server. I have removed all the access-lists for troubleshooting purposes. AP and Switchport configs are below!

I have a question regarding setting up a wireless access point on a network. Lets say my router is going to connect to a switch. The switch puts out 192.168.4. addresses. I want the wireless router to do the same. So I turn off DHCP.Everything works fine and everyone can communicate. Here is my question. How do I ever connect back to the wireless router if I need to change the settings? If the wireless routers address is 192.168.1.1 I cannot get back to it since i am now on the 4. subnet. I have also tried changing the router's ip to an address on the subnet such as 192.168.4.100 but on two different routers this didnt work. One didnt me and said there was a conflict with the WAN IP. The other one would not let me get on the internet.

2. On the same page, in the DHCP Server Settings portion, if Enable DHCP Server : is deselected, does this mean that only the hosts specified in the DHCP Reservations List can access the network? In other words, is access now restricted to these entries?
3. If the DIR-615 is powered OFF, will the above settings, etc. be lost (similar to a reset)?
