I use the Edit Identity option to change the "Display Name" from an IP to a station name, it is overwritten when a discovery has been done. I have checked the discovery settings and tried using the update DCR Display name setting to prevent this from happening, but it makes no difference.Is there something i am missing? This is on LMS 3.2?
View 2 RepliesI am facing a problem with my LMS 3.2 server. Suddenly I found there is no device reflecing in common services-> device management as well as RME also. I restarted LMS services, server multiple time, reseted casuser, demoted the server from ACS mode to local mode but no luck. However in "dcrcli" i can see all devices and exported all devices to CSV file.
After this I restored from a backup 3 month old when devices were reflecting under common server and RME device management. this also not resolved the problem.
I uninstalled LMS, performed system cleaning and reinstalled LMS 3.2. Then I imported the devices from CSV file i had. Now also the problem not got resolved . I can see devices in dcrcli but none of the device is reflecting under device management of any module.
In Dcmaservice.log i found the error" ERROR,[main],com.cisco.nm.rmeng.config.netshow.server.admin.NSCommandSetManager,getAllCommandSet,8661,Invalid MDF data file:D:/CSCOpx/lib/classpath/com/cisco/nm/cwcs/mdf/mdfdata.xml"
Hence I restored teh mdfdata.xml file from another server. However now i can see the following errors
1) in common service -> software center -> device updae -> device count are 0 for all module
2) no device is reflecting under any module
3) one progress i saw when tring to add any device if selecting device type, it is showing me the list of device type along with OID. before restoring mdfdata.xml it was also not comming.
I have installed lms 3.2 on server 2008 , and when I click on device update in software center I receive an error which I inserted down here ;I have to mention that I also have installed Common services patch .

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using CISCO PRIME LMS 4.1 for manage my network, i ran a device discovery job using a ping sweep on the ip ranges of my network, ie 192.168.1.0/24, 192.168.2.0/24 and so on... the discovery found all my devices, but it discovered duplicate devices with illegal ip Addresses, i.e.,
ip device
192.168.1.255 S1
192.168.2.0 S1
192.168.2.1 S1 (the real address)
all in reachable status.
I don't understand why the program adds that repeated illegal addresses.. How can I run the device discovery to avoid this problem?
we are running CiscoPrime LMS 4.1 and I have the following problem.I have configured SNMP Settings as shown below (the order of the targets is exactly as it is configured on the server):As can be seen we use three different read community strings. I also have exluded a bunch of IP ranges and IPs from the filter settings. When I manually start discovery everything works fine, meaning that all devices in the above ranges that need to be discovered are discovered as "reachable". The problem appears in the scheduled discovery (happens once daily). In that case only the devices with Read Community snmp1, get discovered as "reachable". All other devices with Read community snmp2 & snmp3, as well as those that are excluded in the filter settings, are discovered as "unreachable".The discovery uses DCR as seed and seed devices are also configured.I also have a problem with PingSweep in the discovery, but I will open another discussion so that I don't complicate this one too much.

we use LMS 3.2 in our network. We have a couple of 6509-V-E Switches with mutiple interfaces (VLAN interfaces and Layer 3 interfaces) The problem is, campus manager discovers the switch by a interface randomly...one time its a lay3 Interface and another one its a vlan interface which none of them are in DNS hence no name resolution can be made.
Is there a way to "tell" CM to us for instance the VLAN Management IP of the switch?
I have a very special usecase with migrating devices from LMSv2.6 to v4.1 using DCR bulk import that was maintained manualy, not by discovering.The special thing is each device has its own SNMP-community and its about 1500 devices.RME discovery works fine, but I get the devices not discovered by DCR (CSDiscovery), because I need a minimal DCR discovery configration containing Seed and SNMP-settings. So I activated DCR as seed, but cant skip SNMP settings without an entry. But in this case I would need 1500 SNMP-lines that would be very unhandy. is in CSDiscovery-Settings a possibility to can leave SNMP settings untouched so it takes the credentials from the DCR, to can start DCR discovery?

When i hit the button, it doesn't even give a popup window saying that the discovery is started and that email will be sent... If I schedule it is launched, runs and finishes correctly. All proceses are started and it seems that application is working ok. LMS is installed on Win 2008 R2.

At sites where I have static IP, I can't reach any service inside, and in fact can't even reach the router for Remote Management. At all times the users indoes can do whtever they like, the have Internet access.
At sites where we draw a dynamic IP or use PPPoE, I can reach services and manage the router until a known issue stops the inbound traffic.
it seems that users with active device authorization - e.g. permitting only a certain user defined group - can anyway view all devices or views?Is it possible to apply the same view rule from user management, so that these users can only view certain devices or topologies?

so i have returned the server to its original ip address since nothing worked after they changed the IP, but even after restoring the old IP address the device descovery is okay, but when i navigate to the devices management nothing appears in the all devices drop down menu and the remaining menues also.
i have tried to restart and to start a new device discovery also i have tried to run a data collection but nothing changed.
still stck on the devices are not appearing in the device management tab.
Not able to see devices in CS device management (0 devices).but devices are visible in other modules like RME and DFM.

We have a scheduled office move where we are consolidating 2 remote offices into one. I’ve been asked to spec out the correct size UPS to support all of the network equipment for this new office.I went to the Cisco website and I see on the datasheet for the switches and router where they talk about the wattages and BTU’s but how can I go about deciphering from that information what my total wattage and BTU will be for each switch and router?What numbers should I be looking at? For instance, we have 3 3750 48 port PoE switches. So if I look at the datasheet for that switch they have 4 different columns, one for 100% throughput power consumption, one for 5% throughput, another one for 100% throughput for max PoE load and one for 5% throughput with 50% PoE loads?Is there a common method for deremining UPS requipments? For the switches I pretty sure I need to assume max PoE load in the event every port has a phone plugged into each port.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was called into look at a customers's site that was upgraded by another vendor. They were complaining about packet loss and performance issues. I discovered they had changed from static routing and turned on EIGRP (100) and the EIGRP neighbors are not on a common subnet, they used secondary IP addressing to connect two 4506 switches to the core router. Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't this cause the neighbors to bounce and cause the degraded network performance? Don't we need to have a single common subnet for this to work? Either that or they have bridged the VLANs somehow? There is also a cable connecting the 4506 switches besides the uplink to the core router.

Each Of our distribution centers have a PIX501 and from there about 3-5 AP's each. The AP's that were primmed before instalation work great, however we need the ability to get the other ones that were already installed and not finding controller to work with out cycling them through main campus. I have opened up UDP ports 12222-12223 and 5246-5246 with no luck.

View 11 Replies View RelatedLMS 4.2, W2K8 R2.I was having an issue with discovery adding devices to with corrupt information (seemingly random strings of characters in several fields). While I was trying to clean this up a scheduled discovery kicked off and further exacerbated the issues I was having. Frustrated, I deleted all entries from the discovery schedule until I could get things cleaned up.
Now I want to go back and troubleshoot the discovery process. Trouble is, I can't get discovery to do anything anymore. I disabled all modules but CDP. I added a single seed IP address under the CDP configuration. This is the address of a 3560V2 switch that is not in DCR. When I started discovery it completed in about 2 seconds and didn't discover anything, including the seed device. So I added another 3560V2 as a seed device under global settings. Same results. Thinking that it had been working using scheduled discovery, I set up a schedule and kicked it off that way. Same results. Finally I added one of these seed devices to DCR and let LMS fully learn about it. Ran another discovery. Still no joy.
I started an SNMP debug on the seed devices before starting discovery. I see the SNMP get coming from LMS, the switches respond and the discovery completes with 0 devices discovered.CS Discovery.log contains no meaningful information. Only messages about "No appenders could be found for logger".
my customer is using Cisco Prime 4.1 as an Upgrade from LMS 4.0 and has made a discovery of a new added Cat 4506E with a Sup 7E and Modules.All the devices have been discovered, excepted the module WS-X4712-SFP+E.Is this card not supported yet ?I could not find any detailled and actual information about the support or not of this module, or about the conditions for the Module support it in Prime 4.1..How ist it possible to proceed to having this module discovered ?

After the discovery process finished successfully - 100+ new devices were added to DCR message - I was able to see the devices by clicking on their number but when I go to Inventory-Add/Import/Manage Devices I cannot see any device in the Group that I created.If I restart the CiscoWorks Daemon Manager process the newly discovered devices are added to the custom Group. This seems like a bug as I had a LMS 4.0 evaluation installation a few months ago and device discovery was working fine meaning the devices were added immediately to the Inventory.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi am installing a CWLMS 4.0 and everything was good until i have reached the discovery for the devices, i am dealing with a bank setup and the branches is connected using layer 3 MPLS, branches are located behind the ISP router, so as a cdp neighbor i cant see anything but the ISP router at my Core.
so i cant see the branches routers as neighbors to my (seed Device) Core, and i have tried to use the ping sweep and i could not reach them also. and also to add them manually as we were doing before in the earlier versions of CWLMS, using the Devices and Credintials, this option is removed from the LMS 4.0 as i have red in a document.
1- snmp is configured on all devices.
2- access-list is configured on all devices.
3- i am able to reach the LAN Devices without any problems and the configuration is the same on all of the devices.
