View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an ASUS X58C laptop which has been working OK to the internet via the ethernet cable but it has stopped working.I used the laptop via the wireless connection to access the internet while away from home and on my return I can not connect via the ethernet but I can connect OK via wireless. The results with the wireless enabled are :
C:>ipconfig
Windows IP Configuration
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection* 13:
Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
[code]....
I can see that the ethernet adapter(s) are shown as media disconnected but I don't understand how to make them connected. I also don't understand why there are two ethernet adapters or what the Tunnel Adapters are. Before I did the ipconfig command I went into Control Panel/Device Manager/Network Adapters/SiS Ethernet Controller, right clicked and selected the Update Driver Software which searched the internet for a driver and installed it.
I had an old linksys router running DDWRT. I bought a new Asus RT-N16 and finally set it up. I had to just duplicate the settings by hand as you cannot back them up across different hardware models even though both are running DDWRT.
I hooked up the new router and everything was working great, until I decided to check one of my port forwards. Turns out its not working, I can't connect through my DynDNS assigned dns name. Assuming I configured something wrong, I compared the settings of the two routers. Nothing interesting, it is set up right.
From there I decided to just hook the old router up, assuming I overlooked something. So I mess around with all the cables, and then, to my surprise, IT STILL DIDN'T WORK.
A few points of interest:My Static IPS are set up right. My server has the proper IP My home IP did not change. DynDns has the right IP. I rebooted all the network equipment and server... just for the hell of it. I tried changing a port forward to point to my main PC and that failed too.
I disabled the Bluetooth in my lap but the lights is on why? My laptops is Asus netbook 1015?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Arkham City on my computer played it for a while, tried google chrome, gave me a corrupt profile error or something (internet still worked and was connected at the time) restarted my computer and now it's telling me there isn't an ethernet cable connected to my computer.
Here's what I tried so far:
-Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver
-Updating the driver
-Using the network troubleshooting for windows 7
-Doing a system restore before I installed the game (gave me an error saying could not complete restore)
-Currently scanning my computer in safe mode with networking (seeing if that might work, doesn't) with malewarebytes
-Unplugged and replugged the router and modem
-Checked the router on another computer to see if there's a connection (there is none)
-Checked the router to see if there is a light in the port connected to the ethernet, it's blinking at a very slow a steady pace, unlike the ones around it which are solid green lights
-Tried the ethernet cable on another computer, works fine.
computer specs:
Windows 7 64-bit home premium edition
Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P
NETGEAR router WNDR3700
I was having a cleanup of the desk and unplugged the cable shortly, and after plugging it back in it could no longer find any connection. The only way I seem to be able to get connected to the internet now is to run a cable to my ethernet switch, and then onwards to my computer itself. Even when doing this the net seems to be very slow, won't connect through Chrome etc or just flat out won't connect.

I've checked the networkconnections and it's not in the list anymore. The really weird part is that there is a LED light coming from the cable, indicating it has a connection, but it is not making any.
View 23 Replies View Relatedi have a Dell inspiron 1520, the ethernet port has stopped working- no lights when cable connected. this was fine and then just stopped, it is used to connect to hub from time to time when wifi goes down. have tried 3 different cables, no joy, these all work in another laptop. No issues shown in control panel/ hardware. Have downloaded driver from Dell site, still nothing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe recently had a big storm and lost internet connection to our house. Whilst internet connection has since been restored I've noticed that there are now orange lights above the port where the ethernet cable connected to on our notebook. I also cannot get internet connection using the ethernet cable. Does this mean my internal modem has blown? I can use the wireless modem with no problems.
If the modem has blown, how much are they usually to replace and is it relatively easy? I have a Inspiron 1525 Notebook.
I picked up a second hand NETGEAR FS750T switch today for very little as the previous owner said it had stopped working.
After powering it up, there is a small noise for about three seconds. All the lights above the 10/100 ports are solid green and I can't access the web interface when connecting it up to my computer.
What could the problem be? I've heard others with different switch models reporting that all the lights are flashing and replacing the capacitors fixes them.
I've tried the reset and factory reset buttons. The reset just puts all the lights off for the duration of holding it and the factory reset appears to do nothing.
edit: when I turn it on, all the lights and the sound starts immediately. After two seconds, the lights go out. After three seconds, the sound stops and the lights return.
Today a bought a brand new Netgear WNR2000 router.Upon setup the wifi was working correctly. All of the lights where active and it seemed everything was in order.Because the power cord was in the way I moved it and plugged it into a different powerpoint. From then onwards my router has not been working. Only three of seven lights are active (green).
I have tried unplugging and replugging all network cords. I have also turned it on and back off, reset the router and run the initial installation program thrice. What should I do now? Nothing so far has effected it. The computer I am installing it on is running Windows XP and the laptop I intend to use the wifi on is Windows 7.
ASUS Notebook G60Vx Series
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

A few days ago my internet suddenly stopped working. I plugged in the ethernet cord and everything worked fine. Checking the properties in the device manager showed the device was working properly, I also tried resetting it to make sure it was enabled but it did not work.
Upon troubleshooting, the "Windows Network Diagnostic" said the problems was that the Wireless adapter was not turned on. Using the switch on the front of the laptop as well as the function keys does nothing. Usually a graphic pops up showing if the WiFi is on or off, changinging transparent to show the WiFi is disabled. Now when I turn the switch on it always appears transparent, effectively going from off to off
So I know the computer reads both the function keys and the switch on the front but both methods never actually turns the adapter on. I just finished a system restore and nothing has changed
I went online with a tech real quick before I found I beyond complimentary tech support. They say my router is working like a switch. I cannot get any wireless access and to the three direct connections to the router only one is working. The lights are constantly blinking, with the power light blinking every so often
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen i bought the router, the function worked fine, even before my first firmware upgrade. Can CISCO fix this? I tried everything...power off, reboot, etc...that stupid button is not working....
if something as simple doesn't work, what's next on this router to break?
My EA4500 is not working. The power indicator light is on but the green and yellow lights on the Internet port are not flashing and the modem the EA4500 is connected to show no activity on that port. Also, the EA4500 is not broadcasting so I can't even connect to it to use Cisco Connect to troubleshoot. I tried resetting it but it did nothing. This has happened before but is usally fixed with a reset.
View 8 Replies View Related1. I recently purchased an Asus X53-sx1159v laptop (Windows 7 64 bit os - other detals at bottom ).
2. While it has a wifi network connection (which works fine), it doesn't seem to have any listing for ethernet (ie wired) connection. (even though it has the port for wired access.)
3. When i look under computer/device manager/networks, all i get is the wifi atheros 9485 network adaptor. There is no other listing. (see attched file for screen grabs)
4. Am i missing something obvious with all this? The Asus website has examples of this model with screen grab which includes an ethernet adaptor as well (see attached file)
Note that laptop is labelled as an X53 series but in the computer it get listed as a K53e

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I finally got rid of the network cable across my hallway, yes it was faster, however It was ugly and I just didn't like it being there or having to cover it etc.
My attic makes a simple drop very difficult. I would need to cut into my plaster walls and hire a drywaller who knows how to work with plater to fix them, then re-paint my walls etc.
I always thought wireless N would be too slow to stream larger H264 files mkvs etc. So I bought a new ASUS Wirelss AC router, and AC network card.
I also bought some toplink 500mbps power outlet transmitters to test in the bedroom. This PC also has a ASUS PCE-N13 300MPS wirless card (150MPS upload), that was missing antennas. I borrowed some wireless g antennas fro some old routers to to test it out. For the Tp-Link Power Line adapters I tried 3 plugs that are all on the same braker, and in fact are wired off the same run.
Both living room and bedroom are pretty close to the office, with 2 walls (but also 2 door ways that line up through a JackNJill bathroom (so no walls?) directly into the bedroom. The living room has to go through one wall and around the hallway corner.
So the ASUS AC network card picks up the router at 833Mbps in my living room.
The ASUS PCE-N13 picks up at 150/133 Mbps in the bedroom.
The Toplink 500Mbps powerline adapter is shows as 100Mbps.
When plugging in the powerline adapters the Gig router it as a 100Mbps line too (Yellow light). Shouldn't this register as a Gbps line? How can they claim 500Mbps is they are only using a 100Mbps controller?!?!
[Code]...
So it seems like wireless N is working much better for me than the powerline adapters? I really like the hard line style of the adapters, but it concerns me that they are only detected as 100Mbps devices. How can they be detected as 100Mbps but claim up to 500Mbps? Should I send these back and try different powerline adapters? Or maybe I should just get another wireless Asus wireless AC card.
I have an ASUS P5E3 Deluxe motherboard and am having minor connection issues. Occasionally it will have trouble connecting to the internet....IMO, the traffic gets stuck as it attempts to send requests through the non-internet connected line. Here's how I have it connected, running Windows XP: It has a Realtek ethernet jack which is LAN 1 on the Connections menu and that line is connected to the router for internet. Typical set-up that automatically assigns IP address and all other options. It also has a Marvell Yukon connection (LAN 2) that connects to the server so that I can use the networked printer. I've assigned an IP address within the range of the settings on that router. The printer works. Is there a way to direct all internet or web data through one card so that the connection doesn't get bogged down? The server has no internet connection so I don't want any internet requests to go through the Marvell Yukon ethernet jack.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have setup an Asus RT n16 with 3 computers that support gigabit ethernet and a media server on one floor. On the other floor I have set up a fast ethernet switch (connected to my asus router) which is connected to several fast ethernet enabled computers.
Would the fast ethernet devices slow down the entire gigabit networking to 100mbps connections on my floor - similar to how a wireless n network running at 300mpbs must slow down to 54mbps when a wireless g device is connected to it?
My ASUS P5KC is not installing/using the Attansic Ethernet drivers correctly. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate and I'm using the Vista 64-bit (since those are the only ones available on the site that match). I install the drivers, reset, the network icon shows up in the bottom righthand corner with an X over it. When I click troubleshoot, it tells me that a network adapter needs to be installed. I check the device manager and there's no network adapter there.

View 10 Replies View RelatedMy internet service grinds to all but a halt as soon as I plug in the ethernet cable to my desktop. Nothing is running in the background (that I can determine). Nothing is spamming data up or down (that I can determine). I get 40ms ping and 12Mbps downloads on every device I have until I plug in my big boy; then all the speeds come crashing down to 600ms ping and 0.9-1.4Mbps downloads (including the desktop, I have not been able to play SWTOR for weeks now). View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I just got an Asus RT-N10+ trying to repeat my Buffalo Airstation wireless signal (WPA2/PSK). I choose the repeater step in the quick setup, and the signal has full bars, but when I try to connect, it gets stuck at:
"Please wait, RT-N10+ is connecting to buffaloairstation..." and it stays like that indefinitely and after a while, the ASUS wireless connection disappears as it continues "connecting".
I've had trouble connecting to my own internet and have no wireless. I'm using my neighbor's wireless and it's really slowing her's down.
