There is no "blinking light" indication on my E3000 at the Internet (Yellow label) and Ethernet port no 4. I tried plugging in 2 cables at all of the ports. I got the blinking indication at Port 1 through 3. The same cable's have no response at Port 4 and Internet port. As a result my I am not able to connect to the internet.

My computer ethernet port recognizes any modem but will not recognize any wireless routers. My ISP (DSL) spent 3 hours on the phone with me and can't figure it out. I have also contacted Gateway, figuring it must be my computer. I make money on the side fixing computers, so I do have a good idea as to what is what. I run Win7 on a Gateway DX4822 with Intel Pentium Dou-core. I have searched and searched for months and have found nothing. I have asked this question on various forums (including Microsoft) and still nothing.
I have wireless connectivity with a USB 2.0 WAN antenna. I also have a blu-ray player, XBox 360, and Wii all hooked up through this router. The player and XBox are wired, the Wii and a printer is wireless.I have had all things disconnected while trying to solve this issue, thinking that somehow there wasn't enough juice getting through. The cable works. I have tried resets, powerdowns, restarts, system recovery (at one point for a few days it did work as I shared internet from a friend upstairs from me), system restore, many different wireless routers AND modems. With the router connected, the ethernet port light does NOT come on. With the modem directly connected, the light DOES come on. Other computers/laptops in the house work wired into the router.

I recently installed Arkham City on my computer played it for a while, tried google chrome, gave me a corrupt profile error or something (internet still worked and was connected at the time) restarted my computer and now it's telling me there isn't an ethernet cable connected to my computer.
Here's what I tried so far:
-Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver
-Updating the driver
-Using the network troubleshooting for windows 7
-Doing a system restore before I installed the game (gave me an error saying could not complete restore)
-Currently scanning my computer in safe mode with networking (seeing if that might work, doesn't) with malewarebytes
-Unplugged and replugged the router and modem
-Checked the router on another computer to see if there's a connection (there is none)
-Checked the router to see if there is a light in the port connected to the ethernet, it's blinking at a very slow a steady pace, unlike the ones around it which are solid green lights
-Tried the ethernet cable on another computer, works fine.
computer specs:
Windows 7 64-bit home premium edition
Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P
NETGEAR router WNDR3700

I was having a cleanup of the desk and unplugged the cable shortly, and after plugging it back in it could no longer find any connection. The only way I seem to be able to get connected to the internet now is to run a cable to my ethernet switch, and then onwards to my computer itself. Even when doing this the net seems to be very slow, won't connect through Chrome etc or just flat out won't connect.

I've had trouble connecting to my own internet and have no wireless. I'm using my neighbor's wireless and it's really slowing her's down. I've tried restarting my laptop (it usually works) and then reinstalled the device under "device manager". It's not the cord, I've checked with my neighbor's laptop and it works fine.I use a Sony Vaio VGN-NS140E with Windows Vista SP2.

I have a Dell XPS M1530 with Vista 32 bit. When i plug in a cable i get nothing, no error, and the comp does not recognize that a cable has been plugged in. I think that this started after my Hard drive failed and Dell replaced it but i'm not positive. No errors (? or !) in Device Manager and I can't find the Marvell 88E80XX 10/100 Ethernet Controller in device manager. I have attempted to Reinstall the drivers. The wireless is still working. I have one Light to the right of the port that is on all the time solid but no flashing with the cable in or out.

if I can use the encrypted port as unencrypted ethernet ports? url.. Each individual port on the Cisco Nexus 5010 switch is numbered, and groups of ports are numbered based on their function. The ports are numbered top to bottom and left to right. There are 20 to 28 ports on the Cisco Nexus 5010 switch, depending on which GEM is installed.
The 20 fixed ports form group 1 and are named 1/port_number. Ports 1 through 16 are unencrypted Ethernet ports. Of these, ports 1 through 8 are 10-Gigabit Ethernet and 1-Gigabit Ethernet-capable ports. Ports 17 through 20 are encryption-capable Ethernet ports.

I just received a computer from a relative since they do not use it anymore. I just reformatted the hard drive and I can't seem to get it to connect to the internet. Every time I try my computer says there is no ethernet cable connected but I know it is. I read around on the forums and one thread (that is now closed), was about the same problem and to diagnose the problem they asked to use IPCONFIG/ALL in the cmd.exe. The results are this:
Windows IP Configuration
Host Name: bouss

I have a piece of hardware (audio device) with Ethernet network access only. I'd like to give it to my users and have them connect via Wifi. But configuring a Wifi bridge for each use is too onerous. I'm looking for a wireless bridge device with a display and keypad that allows the user to scan, select and associate with a wifi router, then bridge the wireless network to ethernet so I can attach my device. Does such an animal exist? Price is not a major factor.

We have been working with this for a while. Our computer is a HP desktop Windows Vista 64 bit. It is wired to the router. We have a cable modem and a Linksys Wired/Wireless Router (Wrt54G). We also have other computers and video game systems that we connect off and on either wired or wireless. Every so often our internet will just cut out (much too frequently). All the lights are still on on the modem. On the computer(s) the little globe disappears and we are left with just the two computers sign in the tray. The modem still shows internet coming in though. We usually unplug the modem and router, wait and then plug it back in. We have tried unplugging everything before too and we still have this problem. I have checked Device Manager and unchecked the "turn off to save power" boxes. I also just today disabled Wake-On-Lan. (I saw that on another forum. Was that correct?) I went into our router and everything seems normal but I don't know how to use all of it. Earlier this summer I had to redo the entire computer bc the hard drive failed. I had to replace it and format the computer.
I noticed the other day that the computer was trying to connect through ethernet and wirelessly. I turned off the wireless and checked for it to be manualThis is getting old. It happens fairly often. Our ISP said that our modem was fine. They said it was probably the router but they always say that. We are supposed to have maybe 3 meg cable internet. I have done speed checks before and it is about half that. We live several miles from the station. Our internet also goes out in storms or wind but that goes out on the modem. This keeps happening and the modem acts like it is still connected.I need any suggestions on settings or anything I can try. This is really tiresome and I don't know where to look.

I've got a wireless adapter for my desktop and thats what i've been using for years to connect, but now i'm am trying to get a more reliable connection by having the ethernet cable plugged in. Problem is, as soon as I plug it in the whole computer gets extreamly sluggish or sometimes freezes up completely. If I am very patient, I can very slowly do something things. If I open the browser, it probably takes a minute for it to load. Opening the control panel, the window pops-up but none of the icons will appear until it times out. And trying to use the network icons on the taskbar to get into network settings is impossible. Weird thing is as soon as I unplug it and turn the wifi back on, the PC starts responding super quick again within seconds.

I was using the household Ethernet cord this morning and it was working normally. Then I stopped using the Internet to do a program tidy up. - there were a few program's that had been extras to other program's I don't need. Then I went to use the Internet again and it wouldn't connect through the Ethernet cord. I was able to establish that my computer is still able to access the Internet through wireless (which we don't often use on account of it been spotty). Could I have done/deleted/turned off something that allows my computer to read Ethernet cords?

I tried 3 cables, and even one of them was new. So im sure the problem isn't the cables. For some reason, whenever I connect a ehternet cable to my computer, I cannot seem to get internet connection through it. Some days ago I installed this Wireless Lan device from a CD, that came with a sort of antenne I had to put on my computer. It works great, BUT its slow. Thats why i would like to go on internet with cable again. I remember one day to another that my computer didn't detect the cables anymore, what could be the problem?

trying to connect this printer and it just cannot be done without USB.
Dell Inspiron 1440
Windows 7 64 bit
Cisco e2000 router with WPA-WPA-2 security
AVG paid antivirus
I have completely uninstalled the printer with level 3 uninstall. Downloaded the latest driver from HP website. Went through the wireless network connection wizard (a dozen times) and the printer says it is connected to the network with no problem. Ran the Network Configuration, lists an IP address, excellent connection, no problems. But on installing the driver, the computer absolutely cannot see the printer. Tried entering the IP address, creating a new port directly to the IP address. Nothing. Tried pinging from the computer--nothing. Cannot bring up the printer's IP address on the browser. Disabled the firewall and tried that--nothing. Tried going back and connecting with ethernet cable directly to the router instead. Still cannot see the printer. I had this working once, and then had a virus and had to reinstall Windows 7. There was a trick to getting this to work, and I cannot remember it. Of course, the printer is out of warrantee so HP will not assist, even by email. The only way I have been able to get it to install is with USB, which is pretty darned inconvenient.

I have only one computer right now.Had two, and got very weak signal to laptop (since discarded) upstairs from Linksys g 54Mbits downstairs at main desktop computer desktop.I have tried three different kinds of 54Mbits wifi routers, all with no success.I'm going to get my wife a new wifi laptop for Christmas, and she wants to be able to use it all over the house. The 54Mbits will cover the downstairs, but, based on previous efforts, I am thinking of putting my modem in the garage, where the cable enters my house, and using a splitter on the cable coming out of the modem to make two IN cables, using one cable for my comp and a 54Mbits router (for downstairs coverage), and putting a second wifi router on the end of the upstairs cable, to cover the upstairs rooms. My house has cable outlets in every room, so I won't have to do any wiring.
I plan to leave the routers on all the time (at this time) subject to how much of a bandwidth drop they cause. I have a 100 Mbps connection, and I play games, so I'd like to retain as much bandwidth as possible. I assume the two "on" wifi routers will pull zero bandwidth as long as the laptop is off. (??)Or maybe I should just try an "n" wifi router, since they get twice the distance, and forget the cable splitter idea.

So lately my computer's wireless network has started to get really bad, we have 100mbit, and it only gets about 0.3. This seems to be an issue with the range, or something, since if i move the computer right next to the router, it runs at about 50-60mbit. Now a few days ago i decided to get an ethernet cable to try and solve the issue, but my computer doesn't detect a LAN connection, only the wireless one ( atleast it doesnt show up among the other connections). Some weeks ago the wireless connection worked nicely, but now suddenly it doesnt anymore. Currently i'm typing this from an old mac computer, since my internet doesn't work at all on my pc.
