Mar 27, 2013I've been using Belkin modem/routers/network adapters for years and am quite happy with my current Belkin N+ wireless router (model F5D8635-4 ver1). I am in the process of upgrading my home broadband from ADSL to ADSL2+ which, in theory will increase my download speed from approx 5mbps to 17mbps. I have been offered a free Thomson (Technicolor TG582n Pro) router. This will involve reconfiguring the current set up with all the devices currently connected to my network. Not a big deal but will there be any benefit over my existing Belkin set up?

May 29, 2012Currently, I have setup a demo lab with the UC320W + IP Phones and OnPlus Network Agent all connected to a SG300-28P. I have just obtained an SRP547W because I wanted to use the 3G/4G internet connection via the router as my demo lab is an isolated network.Now, I tried to a couple of 3G modem (UMG181) and 4G Telstra modem (MF821) on the SRP547W but none of these work. I had a look at the compatibility tableI guess those modem models are not listed there. However, when I went on say the Optus website to scout for a more compatible model, none of them hit it right on the mark. The matrix says it can support E180 (while Optus has the E188), E353 (while Optus has the E353). I have already wasted my money on getting the earlier stated 3G/4G Modems and I ain't going to take a chance again.

Feb 27, 2013I am running firmware 1.0.1.9 on an RV180. After recently upgrading to Microsoft Internet Explorer 10, I notice the RV180 administration screens do not display properly. Specifically, the horizontal window pane is set so high (not adjustable) all the information is not fully displayed. If I use a previous version of Internet Explorer I don't have a problem or if I use another browser like Google Chrome I don't have a problem. So it appears the RV180 and Internet Explorer 10 are not fully compatible.
Below is a screenshot using Internet Explorer 10 showing the Status page. You can see the horizontal window cuts off most of the information and there does not seem to be a way to "pull" it down to display more information.
Here is the same Status Dashboard selection via Google Chrome. Unfortunatly I don't have Internet Explorer 9 still installed, but it worked fine.

May 22, 2012One of our locations recently upgraded their VPN router from a Netgear FVS318 to the Cisco Small Business Router RV042
My location uses the Linksys RV042v1.2. We can't get the VPN to connect. The VPN set up screens are similar, but there some parameters that we had to adjust. The SA Lifetime parameter for the Cisco Router defaulted to 86400 Secs (Phase 1 & 2) The SA Lifetime parameter for the Linksys only goes to 28800. So we adjusted the Cisco RV042 to match out Linksys RV042.
That's the only difference in the screens that I see. The Cisco has additional paramters under "Advanced", but they're all unchecked by default.
When they shipped the Netgear FVS318 over to us, we get the VPN to function, however, the Netgear has a max throughput of 10Mbps. (we get 4-5Mbps on Speedtest.net). The RV042 gives me over 40Mbps (Optimum Business w/Ultimate)
I tried both firmware updates on the RV042v1.2
RV042 v1.3.12.19
RV042 v1.3.13.02
Any compatibility issues between the different versions of the RV042?

Jan 27, 2013Belkin Router N300 Model:F9K1002V2 apparently forces me to have specific LAN and WAN IPs that I have been unable to change.My ISP has been changing my IP and advising me that everything works without issue. It's true that my IP does change, but only if I am directly connected to my modem - I have a completely different IP. If my router is connected to the modem and I am connected either by Ethernet/wifi from the router, my WAN IP is displayed as my IP & the completely different IP is nowhere to be found.
The issue is that this WAN IP seems to have been banned on a game that I played on a daily basis. Game support has not been responding to my requests & I know my account on that game still exists because I am able to play it when I'm directly connected to my modem. Connecting with my modem is not an option, as there are others in my home that also need to use wifi.So, if it's not already obvious, I'm looking for a way to change my WAN IP ... without having to toss out the product and buy a new router - which I am seriously beginning to consider it.
