In Windows Vista I am able to connect to wireless router, but can't access internet due to Local message only. Have repaired network adapter , reset cable modemm unchecked version 6 of TCPIP network settings.
View 3 RepliesSometimes for a minute sometimes all day until I reset modem/router. It never says not connected though...it always says connected and excellent signal strength but when it won't access internet I can look at my modem/router and tell by the lights its not working even though it says connected. This time even though I reset everything like normal I still can't access internet. I thought it might have been my router so I went and bought a new one and still nothing. Doesn't work wireless or through local connection. Both say connected but nothing. When I do a diagnostic I get the DNS 0x2afc and HTTP 12007 errors. Both computers won't connect so I'm thinking it has to do with my actual router settings or modem.Both Windows XP and Windows 7 laptops won't work.
View 11 Replies View RelatedThis router was just purchased this past week. I have 1 laptop, 1 desktop, and 1 netbook that is connecting to this (along with various smartphones). Set it all up according to the booklet, and ran into some trouble. When connecting through wireless, I only have "Local only" on the older laptop and desktop PC, but full internet access through the smartphones and the netbook. But, when I connect through LAN with the laptop, I have internet connection (only through LAN, not wireless). I suspect this also occurs on the PC, but the two are no where near each other to attempt. I installed the latest firmware version to no avail, and had done a full reset on the router and reinstalled it.

- Laptop connects to many other networks and has Internet access
- Laptop is running Vista
- ipconfig /all has address, mask, gateway, DNS, and looks normal
- Adapter is Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g with latest drivers
I am able to connect to internet using micromax modem having aircel sim.But "no network access" message is shown and so i am not able to accesss any website.

I used exactly the same ip addresses for the set up on this KDL-373x524 and got messages "wireless device found, local access failed, internet access failed". One with Windows Vista and the other one with Windows XP. Both the same problem. There is a wireless connection with excellent signal strength but no internet access. I added a screen shut to see the Router setting. If more needed I will add more.

I am currently connected to the one they changed to but local access only and no internet. Under Network and Sharing Center, it says: Unidentified network (Public network) Access: Local only Connection: Wireless Network Connection (perfectv) Under Internet Options, Connections , it shows the following connection: T-Mobile US Standard Modem When I try using the Windows Network Diagnostics, it keeps coming back with the options that havent worked. The options are: - Plug a cable into the network adapter Local Area Connection - Automatically get new IP settings for the network adapter Wireless Network Connection - A problem with your network router or broadband modem might be preventing an Internet connection Note: I am always able to connect to the internet wherever free wi-fi is available. If a password is required all I need is to obtain it and enter it without making any changes in the system. This is the only time Ive had issues getting online, even though I have the password.

I work remotely for my company through citrix access gateway and can open/access the internet from within the session but any attempt from a browser/program outside of the session times out...I am thinking this is blocked on purpose for productivity reasons, however I want to be able to access the internet from outside of the session so that accessing personal sites for example, gmail, won't be tracked by my company.Would it be possible to run a virtual machine and change IP addresses so access within the machine runs independently of my session?

I have a LAN and a DMZ and an internet connection. I am using one of the internet connection IPs to host a HTTP service on a server in my DMZ. (its the same interface as my internet connenction but a different IP to the one used for internet connectivity)
so say my LAN is 192.168.1.x
and my DMZ is 172.168.1.x
I can access DMZ from Lan and vice versa. when i try to access the public IP (or URL) from a pc in my LAN i get nothing.
I have enabled DNS rewrite (doctoring) but it is still not working. the HTTP service is available from other sites.
I configure for our office site to site VPN project. Now I configured already Site to site vpn between ASA 5510 and 1841 router.

Now can access from Branch LAN to HQ LAN each other. I face the problems that are
1) In branch LAN , they can access HQ LAN & resource , but cannot access internet. I didn't configure NAT on PH Router
2) Can I access internet from BRANCH LAN through HQ LAN to INTERNET. Or Can I access Internet from Branch LAN from PH Router directly while access to VPN to HQ LAN ?
3) In Branch Site , hard phone cannot work but soft phone on PC can call to HQ. Hard phone IP are same in Remote Network (172.16.1.0/24 ) . Is it problem ? how can I configure separately ?
I've been trying to set up my new Cisco 1921 Router to provide internet access to my local network but with no success. I've been reading guides and looking at videos and I have to be missing something becaouse I can't access internet (ping/tracert) from my local network.

"Forbidden You don't have permission to access / Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request"
I have recreated the certs, reset the casuser, verified the correct prvilieges were set for casuser.
I just purchased a new linksys e1500 and followed the steps on the cd to set it up. I have internet access on my windows 7 laptop and iphone however, I have "local access only" on the two laptops we have running vista. The router is working fine for the windows 7 machine and the iphone but I cannot connect to the internet on the two vista machines.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 here, that we could not get to connect to the Internet, we'd only get "Local Only" both wired or wireless on any connections. After messing with it for a few hours decided best to just reformat and fix it that way. After a fresh reformat (Vista Home Premium) we get the exact same issue, with a clean install. All other computers connect with no issue, this one doesn't wireless or wired, just "local only"

I have recently purchased and installed a TL-WR841N wireless router to replace an older system. After following all of the quick install guide and the like I got it set up and working correctly both wired and wireless. However one laptop in the household, an Acer Aspire 5315 running Windows Vista 32bit, does not connect. Using an ethernet cable works fine but the wireless signal is seen and appears to connect but does not find the internet and states Local Only Access.When connected wirelessly I also cannot ping the device but when connected with a cable I can and get a good return.The firmware is up to date on the router and the latop is full up to date with drivers and windows updates.
