View 1 RepliesMy Wifi network has a wpa2 password that is a random string of characters and numbers and yet last month a rogue IP Address kept popping up on my DNS list. It has to be coming from my neighbor who's bedroom is about 15 feet away from my router. So unless someone is sitting out on my front lawn to do this then it must be him.I've been looking for software that will notify me when a connection my router is attempted and kudos if it also asks my permission first would be great. There are wifi packet sniffers out there like Cain&Abel, Airsnort, that sort of thing but I am not quite savvy enough nor do I want to turn this into a complicated hobby but just need a basic warningin case something gets past my passwords again
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Laptop that will connect to any public or other home wirless network but will no longer connect to my own house(network). It recognizes my Network name, I can connect to the internet if I plug in the cable. But wireless says no connection. I have did the troubleshoot which suggests I restart my router(Netgear). I have done this many times. I have retarted the modem and router. doing this sometimes gives me internet for a few minutes on the wireless network. I have done a ping (I think thats what the cmd and further instructions from Dell support was). I have changed my firewall and McAfee options. The ping shows "media disconnected". I have read many threads and tried everything I can think of. Our desktop is wired and internet works fine, just this sudden(5month issue) with my laptop. I checked our IP address to make sure there isnt a conflict or that we have the same address.

how to re-connect my home wireless signal to my computer. The wireless signal is strong and the other computers in my house will connect with no issues. My computer connected with no problems to my wireless signal at work. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on a Lenovo Idea Pad Win7 PC. The computer was connecting yesterday and then was shut down. The next time I got on, ,it wouldn't connect. I've tried re-establishing the network as a new network, but it says the network already exists. The profile is the same as our other computers and nothing has been changed there. When I disconnect from the wireless signal and ask to re-connect it says that the it is trying to connect, but can't make the connection. I'm looking for any way to re-build the profile so it will connect and work again.

Now my wireless internet is absolutely rubbish on my acer.I tend to be able to connect to my university wireless. But it keeps disconnecting. Now that I'm at home, although it detects my wireless and says there is excellent connection, it will not connect to my wireless whatsoever.

I compared the network settings on my desktop with the ones on my laptop and its the same.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my wireless router from D-Link DIR-615 to D-Link DIR-685. Before the changeover, all of my devices were connecting to the router, although I had several problems with dropped connections, etc. The devices in use were:
- Desktop computer
- Laptop computer
- All-in-one touchscreen computer
- Netbook
- iPhone (original model)
- HP TouchPad tablet
- Sony Blu-Ray player
- Two internet radios (Aluratek and Livio)
- Wii
ALL of these devices were connected wirelessly to the network. When I set up the new router, I used a different network name/SSID, but kept the same security key/password. All of the router settings were kept the same (e.g., WPA-2, etc.). After the new router was up and running, every single one of the devices listed above connected (after an initial setup with the new network name, of course) EXCEPT the All-in-one/touchscreen computer. I've tried over and over, and it refuses to accept the security key/password. (The desktop, laptop, and touchscreen are all running Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium.) After doing some research, I tried some suggested solutions, but nothing seems to work. Nothing on the problem computer has changed since it was last connected to the old router. I checked the "Properties" of the network device on both the Desktop (which has no problems connecting) and the Touchscreen, and they are identical: WPA-2, AES, etc. And I'm 100% positive I'm entering the security key correctly. I've rebooted the router and the computer several times.
I have set up a wireless network in my home using s d-link N+ 300 DIR-655 and the desktop that is directly connected to the modem and router can connect to the internet and my laptop can access the wireless network and get online but I have another desktop that cannot connect to the wireless network. It can see it but when i try and connect i get the message that it was unable to connect or sometimes that i was able to connect but have limited connectivity.

THis laptop had no problem before connecting to the same wireless network. But since I came back from the back home couple of days back I am seeing this problem. View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a work supplied laptop. Used to be able to connect to my home wireless network - this stopped working last week. It can connect to other wireless networks, both at the office and other public places, but can't connect to my home network.
I've tried: Manually creating the wireless network Removing the profile from regedit Removing the profile from ProgramDataMicrosoftWlansvcsProfiles
It sees the network and attempts to connect, but never successfully connect. I have other laptops at home that are working just fine. The network is setup with WEP security, and I've entered/reentered the password several times.
Note, when I started this, the home network did not appear under the Manage Wireless Networks list in the Network and Sharing Center.
first I replaced a new internal hard drive. Installed new and updated drivers. connected to the home wireless network. everything working well so far as of last week. this week, I replaced new battery and ran norton 360 updates. after the updated, I can't connect wirelessly to my home network. I checked if Norton is blocking the communication but I don't think it did.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am unable to connect to my home wifi from my laptop but it connects fine at work. All other devices (2 androids and 1 laptop) are able to connect to the home network. My laptop used to connect intermittently earlier - sometime the connection would be restored when i reset the router or restarted the laptop but now I'm just not able to at all. The message i get is either "Limited Access" or "Unidentified Network. No internet access" - the signal strength always is excellent. I have tried switching off and on the wireless router, have disabled and then enabled the wireless connec on the laptop, have reconfigured the wireless network on the router with a new network name and password but nothing works. However I am able to connect to the internet using the network cable - there were a few times where I couldn't do that either. I've tried browsing on several forums to get answers but haven't found any yet. [code]

Therefore when I load Internet Explorer, I get WebPage Not availableI notice that my IP address is starts with 169 and researching forums suggests that this is the problem and it should start 192? View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 3 pieces of hardware:
1. Green Packet DX-230 WiMAX modem with router
2. D-Link DIR-615 ver G2 (from my ISP)
3. D-Link 8 port desktop switch
I previously used the DIR-615 with my high speed broadband connection. However I had to move to a new house and here I can only get WiMAX. I want to...Place the WiMAX modem upstairs to serve as modem and wireless access point Have the DIR-615 function as the main router and firewall (downstairs) Use the switch to connect all the rooms in my house FYI my WiMAX modem has no connection configurations. I just plug it in and it'll connect automatically to the WiMAX signal. It has 2 LAN ports but no WAN port. From my understanding of networking, I have to turn off DHCP on my WiMAX modem, put it in the same IP range as my DIR-615 (192.168.0.100-199), and disable UPNP and NATPMP. After this I'm stuck. How do I tell my DIR-615 to use the WiMAX modem as it's WAN connection?Should I reserve an IP for the modem in my DIR-615?
I've just signed up to a local Irish Internet provider and was supplied with a Cisco router EPC3925. Wireless is working fine for laptop and iPad. However I cannot share my iTunes library with Apple TV. I connected the Ethernet cable and it worked perfectly. However as soon as I disconnect, so too does the home sharing. I've disabled windows firewall and completely uninstalled macafee firewall. Im using windows vista and have the latest version of iTunes installed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a new router - WRTP54G . I used to have our 2 machines on a home network. However, that is all gone now. When I open My Network Places on my pc, nothing at all appears. On the other pc only the shared folders on that pc appears. I've tried running the network wizard several times and to no avail. I've checked the permissions and everything else I can think of, but it still doesn't work. I believe it is probably something simple to fix, like checking the right box, but I haven't found it yet. Both machines are running XP Home and I have an external drive attached to my pc. Everything worked fine till the installation of this new router. Should I just create a new network? Would that just be easier? One more thing, I got the error that says Home is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact admin of this server to find out if you have access permission. The network path was not found. Of course, I am the admin.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a xbox 360 that I want to connect to xbox live with, using my home network. Every time I try to connect to xbox live the only part that fails is the connecting to xbox live part. This is how my network is set up. I have Cox Cable as my ISP, a Linksys WCG200 gateway(v2), and WRT54GS(v7). The cable wire is connected to the WCG200 gateway, then an Ethernet cable connects the gateway to the WRT54GS router, and finally an Ethernet cable connects the router to my xbox 360. I have contacted Cox, Linksys, and Microsoft about the situation and they all say the problem is the version of the router. Someone told me that I may just need to change the firmware, but I don't know how to do that.
