I have a Belkin G wireless router. I have connected a Windows 7 PC using wired connection through Ethernet port.I've also connected my Windows XP PC through wireless connection. And plugged in my internet cable to the Router.Now I am able to access internet on both the PCs but I couldn't setup a network between the two computers for file sharing.

we hadn't have the WEP key on our Linksys wireless router, so we decided, about a month ago, that it was a good idea to lock our wireless connection. So we did. For a couple of weeks, everything worked just fine.But then we bought a new printer, which happened to be a wireless network printer, and in the process of installing it, we mistook the reset button (I think) on the router for some other button and ended up resetting the router. When we did that, we undid WEP key, thereby unlocking the router. Then, we locked the router again, at which point one of our computers--which happens to be mine--ended up not working. All other computers and phones and iPads work just fine, but this one laptop of mine just doesn't work (with respect to wireless internet connections, of course).
- pressing the reset button on the router again. It kind of works. The internet works for about five or ten minutes (which is unbearably annoying because I have to reconnect it every five minutes), but my computer somehow disconnects itself from the internet connection. Also, although the internet technically "works," the wireless network icon thing on the bottom right of the screen has an "X" on it, which I thought meant the internet is not working, but it apparently doesn't, because my internet is working now. And, if I click the icon, it says that I'm not connected, but, again, the internet works. (for about 5~10 minutes, if I unlock the router)
- changing the internet protocol information (I don't think it does anything, but.)
- changing the wireless internet connection property to WPA, WPA-PSK... everything.
*All computers in the house have wireless internet connections but mine.
*When I reset the router, the internet works, although the computer says it isn't connected, and it disconnects itself every 5 or 10 minutes.

I have a problem with files sharing via wi-fi. I can not share files over the network using wi-fi connections. While the network is the cable connection sharing is available. The network also acts as one computer is connected by a cable to the router and the other via wifi. But if the two computers are working through wifi network does not work. Are there any settings in the router, which can cause blocking calls via wifi?
I have a 80ft cat5 ethernet cable I got cut at compusa about 3years ago to go across the house to my room. I used to have an a really old computer but about 6months ago I bought a brand new top of the line computer and got really excited and set it up on my desk in my room to discover my ethernet cable wasnt being detected on my computer. The weird part is that it works with other computers.. I had my gf's laptop(3yo) using it, my dads(3yo), my older computer that I dont use anymore but whenever I connect mines it doesnt work.I test hooking up a few different cables to my computer and they work but that one specificly wont.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyway, I am looking for a way to discover host names of Apple devices (namely iPods and iPhones) that are on our network. I've tried a number of programs like Nmap, Advanced IP Scanner, and LanSpy to name a few. All of them will report back the MAC address with no problem but no dice on resolving the host name.
My goal is to use the host name to identify the device, and ultimately the person with the device. Any thoughts on how I can go about this? Is there a setting in Nmap I'm missing or perhaps a better program to use?

We used to be able to have all our family's laptops, etc., connected at the same time using this code, but the site has recently changed the configuration so that we can't do this. View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are a small business that just bought a Cisco 1921 ISR. I am trying to set it up right now but I cannot get CCP to discover it. I am new to Cisco products and IOS.The router is currently set up in a test environment with a USB connection to a Win7 PC for console management. I also have the PC connected to gigabit ethernet port 0/1. I am using putty to access the console which I did with no problem for the initial configuration. After that I thought I would be okay to discover the router with CCP using the IP address I specified but then it prompted me for a username/password which I didn't see in the initial configuration. After this the video I was watching said to go in to CCP and specify the IP address or hostname of the router and use the login info that was just created admin/pw. When I ran the discovery I got the failure message: Connection to the device could not be established. Either the device is not eachable or the HTTP service is not enabled.When I run 'show ip interface' I notice 'Router Discovery disabled" is this why it is not working? How can I enable this or what else am I missing here? Am I not connecting to the router correctly? Oh and just for reference our plan is to have this router set up as a VPN gateway and firewall with 2 WANs for redundancy and connecting to our switch via an HWIC SFP for fiber.
I have installed LMS 3.2.1 and RPM(ATM technology) can be seen but not ML card(ONS). Also LMS discovered lot of interfaces (int vlan) one of the core switches and marked them as 'unreachable'. How can delete these when LMS marked as unreachable?

This I will call Ethernet Connection 2.It all works fine, but I only want my PC's to communicate via Ethernet connection 2.Currently, if I disconnect the Ethernet cable between the computers I can still access the files on the Windows 7 computer via the wireless connection on the Windows XP computer.I've tried to see if this is discoverable by other people using the router by installing Ubuntu on the Windows XP machine and looking at the available networks. Lo and behold, my Windows 7 machine is discoverable and accessible - albeit by a password. This is with the Ethernet cable between the computers unplugged.I have both networks on the Windows 7 machine set to public and all sharing options switched to off. Both computers have the same workgroup name. Worryingly I can still connect to the Windows 7 machine via Ubuntu wirelessly without even using the same workgroup name!All I want to do is connect the two computers via Ethernet Connection 2. I don't want any sharing information going to the router too and hence other poeple being able to see it. I also using 5 APs now and few days ago I bought some additional 3502 APs and I can't get them connected to the controller. My company admins decided to using DNS controller discovery instead of using DHCP option 43. I'm connecting APs to access ports of Linksys switches and APs not in the same subnet as ap-manager interface of controller. AP succesfully get IP and DNS from DHCP and could ping cisco-capwap-controller. However, I have such messages.

I have a 5508 controller that has 14 APs connected to it. I installed them without an issue. The 2 new APs are on a different subnet. I can ping them from the 5508 controller ping command, but they do not self discover from the web interface. The 2 new APs are at a differnet physical location.

So I first reinstalled the driver and plugged the wire in and like magic i had internet. so i took it up stairs, no internet connection. so i whipped out my handy dandy laptop and plug the wire into the cat5 port and i had internet. so this is telling me the wires in my walls are working, my router and modem are working, and my pc is doing something crazy when it changes elevation. My wifi is working but it keeps sending me firefox cant find the server at... message. It said that the firewall or proxy could be doing it but i cant find a problem with it. My computer had just updated so i dont know if that could be the issue. My other computer is working just fine so i know its not the router. My computer has done with before but i cant remember how i fix it and if im not mistaken my computer had updated when it happen the last time, but im not 100% sure.
