D-Link DIR-655 :: Website Filter Doesn't Work Anymore
Jan 12, 2012I had the website filter ON and it was working very well to block a few websites on a schedule. And after a few month, it doesn't work any more. While it is possible that I scewed up the setting , I have tried so many settings.
So:DIR655 fw 1.32NA,hw A3,"Enable access control" is on with the desktop MAC address (used copy this MAC)(I have also tried my laptop MAC),web site filter is set to "deny",the router time is set using NTP dlink server,

Feb 26, 2012Like others I see on this board, we've got middle- and high-school age kids whose access to FB and other sites needs to be controlled/scheduled.
I thought the DIR-655 was great, in that it has features that, on the face of it, would seem to be ideal for blocking domains and restricting access.
My problem: I've never been able to get this to work.
I've set up schedules and created lists of domains that I want to limit access to according to the schedules, but the only constraint I've ever gotten to stick is blocking access completely to the router.
*None* of the schedule-based or website-based access controls have ever worked; I'll put the block in place to my daughter's computer's MAC address so she shouldn't be able to get to youtube or facebook, save, bounce the router, but then I go by her room and she's still busily chatting away online to her FB friends.
Based on similar posts I've seen on this forum, this may not be a unique problem.
So in a nutshell, this is what I want to do:
1) Block certain computers (identifiable by MAC address)
2) from being able to get to particular named domains (and any of their sub-domains)
3) according to a schedule that I can create and modify.
My preference would be to do this in the router, but again, responses I've seen here suggest that may not be possible.

However, I was not able to get the two to communicate with WPA2 security - maybe, I just didn't try hard enough? Both devices are capable of doing WPA2 with AES but client mode doesn't seem to work with WPA2? I had to drop back to WPA-AES to make it work. Why is this?

Dell :: Studio 1737 Shows Connected To Network With Internet Access But Doesn't Work
Apr 5, 2012I have a Dell Studio 1737 running Windows 7 64 bit. I turned it on today and it automatically connected to my home network as usual and when I hover over the network icon it says there is Internet Access but when I open Firefox it can not connect to any websites. When I run the automatic troubleshooter, it does not detect any problems with the connectivity.
I ran ipconfig /all and this is what came up:

Website Doesn't Open On Some Computers?
Oct 26, 2012It won't open on some computers (of different ISP) I;ve tried different Operating systems and browsers... if I check the website, it is mostly up and works perfectly on other computers... If I try to ping it, Sometimes I manage but more often it fails.. Any time the browser says dns error - server cannot be found. I don't know much in IT, but I guess ip doesnt matter, because my computer obtains it from ISP.the website address is armtravel.org... what's the problem ? hosting, 3 ISP-s (that i've tried to open with) or computers (more than 10 don't open)

Dec 12, 2011I am setting up a webserver to host our website on our local network. When I'm browsing from an external network, I can pull our website example.com and a sub domain test.example.com. However, when I'm browsing from our internal network, I cannot pull up test.example.com. I am not sure if this is due to propigation issues or what.When I do nslookup from external, it shows my network's main IP address. When I do it from local, it can't find an address and says non-existent domain.Should I have any problems connecting to my website if it is using my external IP address? May 22, 2012The electric went off in my house about an hour ago, causing my computer to turn off as a result. Ever since, the internet on my PC has been acting up.
My internet was working perfectly before the power cut both on my laptop (my mum was using it at the time) and PC, however, while I've got no problems with the internet on the laptop, my PC keeps losing the connection to a ridiculous degree. It'll drop the connection for over a minute at a time, come back on literally long enough for me to refresh/load 1 webpage (~5 seconds), then go back off again for another minute or two.
All the lights on the router are on and I've even cross-referenced (lacking a better term...) the internet connection between my lap top and desk top and my laptop will work fine when my PC is telling me there's no connection and nothing will load on it. It seems to me that something has happened to my desktop when the power went out but I have no idea where to begin to even try to find out what's wrong.
I've tried turning off the router by both the wall and the little button on the back of it, and I've restarted my PC twice as well and still the internet doesn't work properly. My laptop picked up the connection as soon as the router came back on with no problem but my desktop struggled to find the connection and only picked it up after turning the router off twice aand restarting the computer twice as well and as I said, when it finally did find the connection it just keeps dropping it.

i tried with 4 wlan adapters: two of them support 802.11b/g, they always work find no matter which settings. the other two support 802.11b/g/n, as default "n" is enabled, so does DIR-615, both wlan adapters can be connected to DIR-615, they get their LAN-IP, but they can access neither DIR-615(no respone to ping) nor internet. but if i disable "n" mode either in the adapter or in DIR-615, everythin works fine, of course only with 54mbit max.
so what can i do to use the n mode?
Network Jack Doesn't Work But Plug Does?
Jun 23, 2012All wires terminate in the basement as a RJ-45 plug, to be plugged into a switch housed in an old circuit breaker box. The first wire went off without a hitch, the jack works, the plug works, all is right with the world. The router for the home is currently plugged into that outlet so as to give the entire network as we build it internet. The second outlet is giving us problems though. I've fished the wire up the wall as before, and the length of wire is shorter than the first run. When I terminate the end upstairs as a jack, then plug in my laptop, it refuses to connect. It says the network cable is unplugged. If I terminate the cable as a plug, then plug it directly into the laptop, suddenly everything works. I have tried so far 3 different jacks, tested continuity on the jacks, and tested continuity on the wire to the jack pins to make sure the terminal block was working and everything came back green

My router is TP-Link W9801G. We get TV through the router as well, and there never was any problem with it. It works fine, just like the download speed. The DNS and IP settings are all set to automatic like they should, and of course I've tried unplugging and resetting everything.I know it's not the computer's network adapter, because it's the same thing at my laptop when I connect to it wirelessly. The signal strength is at all 5 bars too
