Normally, when one right clicks on a drive letter having opened 'My computer', then select 'Sharing' there is a warning about sharing a whole disk and the option to accept anyway.One laptop doesn't offer that. It just shows the admin share of C$ immediately. If I choose 'New' at the bottom of the panel a new drive letter and drive name can be entered but it can never be accessed over the network! It shows up in the workgroup but I get a network error 'Network path not found' if I try to access it. I can ping the laptop from anywhere by name and IP address.The laptop can access all the other PCs without any problem.
I am using ASA5520 with webvpn for file sharing. But recently we just upgraded the OS that accommodate file shared folder from win2003 R2 32bit to windows server 2008 R2 64bit. Now I have a problem with accessing file share by ASA webvpn, it appears error contacting host, we have tested the file shared of webvpn on the other OS windows 2003 and windows 2008, they are working on these OS except win2008 R2. Current the ASA OS version is 8.0(2). And the windows firewall has been disabed.
I have an problem with VPN connection on notebooks. Sometimes the VPN connection works perfectly, and other times it just doesn't work at all.The Cisco VPN client software is version 5.0.04.0300. So, my desktop, running windows 7, can no longer connect to the internet. It has no problem connecting to the router, but it will not receive packets. I double checked my connection using my laptop and it works with wireless and wired connections, so I know it's something with my desktop. I would really like to avoid doing a reinstall, I don't have anywhere to back my data up to.

I have been having problem with my internet lately. I live in UK and there is this game that I used to play that has a region IP block so I have to use Hotspot shield to play,but now my internet doesn't connect to Hotmail or this forum unless hotspot shield is turned on. How can I fix that? I tried config/flushdns but no luck. I am using window xp.
We have recently switched routers and now my laptop doesn't work wirelessly; it connects to the router but there isn't an internet connection. The laptop works fine when the LAN cable is plugged in though. Our other laptop can connect to the internet with or without the LAN cable. I purchased a used Compaq laptop with a Realtek USB wireless adapter. The laptop came with XP Pro. I connected the adapter and everything worked great. My husband got a virus I couldn't remove. I have the CD for XP Home so I did a clean install.Windows works fine. I connected the USB wireless adapter and ran the installation disk. When I open Realtek to connect nothing appears in the available networks. I checked the device mgr and it says Realtek is working. I turned off my 2Wire gateway and then reconnected it. I doubled checked that the Windows wireless utility is disabled. Still no available networks. Everything was fine before the reinstall of Windows XP Home.

The electric went off in my house about an hour ago, causing my computer to turn off as a result. Ever since, the internet on my PC has been acting up.
My internet was working perfectly before the power cut both on my laptop (my mum was using it at the time) and PC, however, while I've got no problems with the internet on the laptop, my PC keeps losing the connection to a ridiculous degree. It'll drop the connection for over a minute at a time, come back on literally long enough for me to refresh/load 1 webpage (~5 seconds), then go back off again for another minute or two.
All the lights on the router are on and I've even cross-referenced (lacking a better term...) the internet connection between my lap top and desk top and my laptop will work fine when my PC is telling me there's no connection and nothing will load on it. It seems to me that something has happened to my desktop when the power went out but I have no idea where to begin to even try to find out what's wrong.
I've tried turning off the router by both the wall and the little button on the back of it, and I've restarted my PC twice as well and still the internet doesn't work properly. My laptop picked up the connection as soon as the router came back on with no problem but my desktop struggled to find the connection and only picked it up after turning the router off twice aand restarting the computer twice as well and as I said, when it finally did find the connection it just keeps dropping it.

i tried with 4 wlan adapters: two of them support 802.11b/g, they always work find no matter which settings. the other two support 802.11b/g/n, as default "n" is enabled, so does DIR-615, both wlan adapters can be connected to DIR-615, they get their LAN-IP, but they can access neither DIR-615(no respone to ping) nor internet. but if i disable "n" mode either in the adapter or in DIR-615, everythin works fine, of course only with 54mbit max.
All wires terminate in the basement as a RJ-45 plug, to be plugged into a switch housed in an old circuit breaker box. The first wire went off without a hitch, the jack works, the plug works, all is right with the world. The router for the home is currently plugged into that outlet so as to give the entire network as we build it internet. The second outlet is giving us problems though. I've fished the wire up the wall as before, and the length of wire is shorter than the first run. When I terminate the end upstairs as a jack, then plug in my laptop, it refuses to connect. It says the network cable is unplugged. If I terminate the cable as a plug, then plug it directly into the laptop, suddenly everything works. I have tried so far 3 different jacks, tested continuity on the jacks, and tested continuity on the wire to the jack pins to make sure the terminal block was working and everything came back green
like today randomly my internet went down. And then everything changed back to its original like my SSID from Netcom it changed back to wireless and everything was default and also the PPP was off so i wasn't able to connect to the internet. So i went to my router setup page on the internet or whatever and turned it back on. So now like the internet on my computer which has a cable to the router works but the wireless internet doesn't work for my laptop nor ipod. I can see the connection on the laptop and ipod but when i try to connect it keeps saying that it is unable to connect.
I installed a Micro Edition of Windows 7. Everything is going properly with it except the wireless internet connection (its driver is installed and working properly as shown in Device Manager), by click Connect and typing the PW, it tries for few minutes then fail in connecting putting a yellow small circle on the wireless icon in Task bar

For a good while now, at my home, the internet has been awful.Web pages barely load if at all, I can't play any online games, but when I start a download, either by torrent or regular, the download speed is perfectly fine, reaching the normal 500 kb/s. My router is TP-Link W9801G. We get TV through the router as well, and there never was any problem with it. It works fine, just like the download speed. The DNS and IP settings are all set to automatic like they should, and of course I've tried unplugging and resetting everything.I know it's not the computer's network adapter, because it's the same thing at my laptop when I connect to it wirelessly. The signal strength is at all 5 bars too
I upgraded my computer with a new graphics card and power supply. When I turned it on everything ran fine except for the internet. I either get a connection with 1 bar, a connection but no internet acess, or no internet at all. Did I damage something on the motherboard that could cause this?
I've been having this DNS problem for 6 days or so. The internet doesn't work with cable nor Wi-Fi and I've tried almost everything, ping, configuring the DNS, IP, disabling everything, enabling everything, nslookup doesn't work, releasing and renewing doesn't work too, and to make things worst.(In the main computer, everything works just fine and the router settings appear to be correct too, my computer also works perfectly fine in other places with WLAN).

I have a W7 PC 64 bit system and I've been trying to port forward the port 25565 for my Minecraft server. However for some reason (even after port forwarding the right one) people still can't connect. When I check on Open Port Check Tool - Test Port Forwarding on Your Router It still says that the port 25565 is closed!I've even created an Inbound and Outbound rule in the Windows Firewall advanced settings. I have this Belkin wireless g router, which I had for a year. I was using the wired connection since then until I, at last, was able to use it's wireless connection but it only lasted around a week. After that, the modem light on the router kept on blinking and the internet light wouldn't turn on. I also couldn't connect to the router anymore(wired and wireless), neither could I configure it. I reset it but it still didn't work.

My parents have a windows 7 desktop with ethernet plugged in for internet. I use a Asus EEE 1005HA with jolicloud. They do not have wireless, only wired internet. When I plug in the ethernet cable, the netbook doesn't recognize the internet access. Nothing wrong with the ethernet port on the netbook, as i've used wired network at my dorm and the port does recognize the ethernet cable at my parents' house.
Also, is it possible to use the desktop as a sort of wireless router? Would connecting a usb wireless dongle to the desktop allow me to connect my netbook to the internet via the desktop?
