We had some issue with Datacentre ACE modules. Both primary and DR ACE modules got restarted in 16 hours difference. Unfortunately Syslog was not configured on the ACE and local logging got cleared after restart. The current IOS version is A2(3.2). The modules uptime was around 300 Days. View 7 RepliesI recently ran an upgrade on my 6509-E's and when the first switch came back up, 3 of the 10/100 switches that were in the chassis did not power on. After further investigation, these models are not supported by this latest IOS version. The module # is : WS-X6248-RJ-45
We have one WS-X6348-RJ-45 and since it was a few weeks ago I did this I can't remember for sure but I believe this one came up.
Where can I found the information regarding this being unsupported but I know it is out there and any page that showed me that this was unsupported with the latest stable IOS of 12.(33).
In addition to this question, I have approval to purchase some newer gigabit switches that will be supported by this new IOS version and hopefully at least the next few over the next few years. Which specific gig models are currently and hopefully should be supported for the next few years? I don't need PoE or anything spectacular, just regular switches that are attached to either servers or virtual hosts. I've been looking at the lists of what is out there and it seems like there are hundreds of different models and it is becoming difficult to determine what is what.
We are running ACE 20 modules in highly available active / standby (all active contexts on one module) mode. Currently they are on A2 (2.4) version. We are going to upgrade them to A2 (3.6a). The question is that how ling can we run them in two different SW levels? In otherwords can we have few days between upgrading both modules?

My problem is: The clients are complaining of slowness connection to the internet, i captured the traffic in the ace capture feature and i see some RST packets and severals checksum error packets in pcap file.
The topology is:
Client -> ACE VIP VLAN 81 -> RSERVERS VLAN 80
Vlan 80 is in L2 mode(no interface vlan in the switch core 6509, route occurs through the ace appliance).
The IP address 10.96.200.6 is the gw for rservers.

We are looking into replacing our current Windows NLB configuration with a SLB solution as NLB creates some nasty multicast traffic.
We are currently curious about the limitations for running SLB without a dedicated ACE Module, will it handle line-rate speed (1 and 10 gbit) with SLB?
Does VSS introduce any limitations for SLB? Any other pitfalls/limitations we should be aware of?

We have a 6509 with an ACE module. For reasons I don't fully understand the ACE is running using a BVI in bridge mode. It has loads of secondary interfaces.

I can ping all of the IPs on the BVI, but only servers in Subnet 10.7.42/42 can ping out of the the layer 3 on the 6509. I have all the routes configured properly on the 6509 pointing to the ACE for these subnets. The question is though the config has been excepted, is there a limit to the number of secondary on a BVI.

Vlan 35 also spans some other switches with other servers residing in this vlan. Additionally, there are dozens of another vlans (including external users) that need to communicate with web servers. IP addresses of these two web servers are: 192.168.35.1/24 and 192.168.35.2/24 accordingly with default gateway 192.168.35.254/24 (SVI on Core switch). I done a capture in the server using wireshark and could see that the IP address of the destination is the VIP and not the rserver ip address , this is a problem? Why can not I have the SYN + ACK from the server?

After the disc reformat and reload of XP from the operating system CD, and then loading the drivers CD, I cannot connect to the internet. The plug for the ethernet cable is red/yellow on two different jacks in the house. The modem is supplied by ATT U-verse. The TCP/IP is connected at 400 Mb/s but showing "0" data transfer in or out. The internet connection was working before the XP reload. I did not backup an "image" and so I may have lost my registries? Is there a way to "turn on" the ethernet port?

I have a strange issue which happened to me last weekend with two ASA 5515X on version 8.6(1)2. There was a planned power shutdown which only affected the primary firewall. Failover was configured and running successfully. The configuration was also saved after every change made. After power was shut and primary firewall went off the secondary took over like it should but unfortunately all configuration was gone. We immediately powered on the primary again but also this one lost the configuration.
While reconfiguring the firewall we ran into another problem. The devices won't pair although it was the correct configuration. After three times removing and adding the same failover configuration the devices accepted the failover and worked together again.
I went through the bug toolkit and white papers regarding ASA 5515x and this particular version but were not able to find anything.

Running 12.2(18)SXF3
