Using ES2 enhanced etherswitch modules? Could not find out whether it functions identically as NM-16ESW or not. I do understand that ES3 module act like a separate device connected to the router chassis via internal interface and has its own configuration file and processor resources similar to older NME-16ES modules. What about ES2 card (e.g. SM-ES2-24)? Does it work as separate L2 switch connected to the router chassis via trunked internal interface or integrates to the router like the older NME-16ESW module did? Is it possible to turn its ports into the routed mode (no switchport) and use them for L3 forwarding with routing protocols such as OSPF?

configuring up a 2921 router for remote site which is fitted with 24 port Etherswitch module.As part of this setup I have defined 3 vlans on the router, but when I go onto etherswitch and for example set switchport access to access vlan 3 it is not aware of this vlan.Do I have to set up trunk inbetween Router and its etherswitch?Wish I had ordered seperate switch as it would have been easier or am I missing something.sho vlan-switch shows my vlans but on swicth sho vlan brief does not.

We just received a new C2911 G2 ISR and have been trying to configure the EtherSwitch SM-ES2-24-P module on it. Through the router console, I tried assigning an IP address to the router Gi1/1 interface which I assume is the link to the Etherswitch module but all I'm getting is "IP addresses may not be configured on L2 links" - as per the docs, I should be able to assign an IP address on that "logical" interface link. Any other way for me to configure the ports on that switch module?

I have a 2921 router with 1 etherswitch module installed. I haven't done it before and was trying to change the baud rate to 115200 for installing an IOS on the etherswitch module which had been deleted. I ended up "unsetting" the baud rate on the etherswitch and rebooted. Now, when I try to session into the etherswitch, its opens the connection but I can no longer see any text on the screen. Im using Teraterm. I've tried different baud rate settings for my serial port in TeraTerm but still cant see any text on the screen. I dont know of any commands from the router prompt. Any suggestions to fix this? If can start seeing the text, then I can probably configure and set up the etherswitch module.

In a 6500 or 7600 a 'show module' gives a run down on all the modules in the slots, their HW and SW versions and status. But I can't find a similar command in the ASR1006.

Looking for a show command to display the actual physical Ram modules inside a 2911 router. I believe they come with 2x ram slots and I need to know if it has 1 ram stick or 2.show version displays the total amount of ram, but not if its 2x128 or 1x256 etc.This is also production gear so I cannot open it up and have a look until the scheduled downtime.

We had some issue with Datacentre ACE modules. Both primary and DR ACE modules got restarted in 16 hours difference. Unfortunately Syslog was not configured on the ACE and local logging got cleared after restart. The current IOS version is A2(3.2). The modules uptime was around 300 Days. 1. I am trying to configure a cisco 2811 with FXS ports . I am using an NM-HD-2V with a VIC3-2FXS. I am using the right modules. Also I believe we need PVDM mosules installed in the NM-HD-2V. We have PVDM-12 modules. Will that work or is 2811 compatible only with PVDM2-xx modules.
2. We are also trying to configure a cisco 2811 with PRI port. We plan to use an NM-HD-2V and a VWIC-1MFT-T1/E1. If they are correct and if we need only PVDM2-xx modules.
3. Also we are trying to configure a cisco 3845 with PRI and we plan to use the same as in 2811 that is NM-HD-2V, VWIC-1MFT-T1/E1. And here also we are not sure if we need only PVDM2-xx DSP modules.

I've seen a lot of things I want to and need to fix to get our network more secure but my first order of business is Visio diagrams of the old network and projected diagrams of the new network when we move to our new DC next Saturday. I've made maybe 1 diagram on my own thus far and have edited a few. I want to create physical and logical diagrams but I'm not quite sure what to include and what not to include on either since I haven't seen a wealth of diagrams up to this point in my career.
1st question: Does anyone know where I can get visio stencils of IPS modules for ASA 55xx series? Didn't see them on Cisco's stencil site or with a google search
2nd question: Our network is setup like this... A stack of 3 3750s act as our "Core" and have a 2 port etherchannel to every layer 2 2960 switch (15) in the network. In a physical diagram, 30 links would make it a little busy, hell even 15 links represented as the etherchannels would be busy

I am experiencing an issue with end host being discovered on a cisco 4510. Anything connected to modules 9 or 10 are not discovered in User Tracking. The switch is running: Cisco IOS Software, IOS-XE Software, Catalyst 4500 L3 Switch Software (cat4500e-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 03.02.01.SG RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc4).

I would like to know if any additional power would be needed for a 3845 (currently with one (1) NME-XD-48ES-2S-P) to which another 24-port switch module is added. Thus, I would have two (2) switch modules on the 3845 for a total of 72 ports.
I have been unable to find specific power requirements detailing the requirements with 1 ethernet module, 2, etc.

We have a 6513 which had 2x 8port (WS-X6708-10GE) 10GB modules one in slot 10 and another in slot 12. Between this two modules we created a 4 port trunk 40GB (2 ports in each module) between the 6513 and a Nexus 7018. Yesterday we swopped one of the moduless for a 16 port 10GB (WS-X6716-10GE) and cannot trunk between the two cards. Only 2 ports work in either one or the other. Seems because of the difference between them (DFC3CXL & DFC3C). Taking a look at the logging we noticed something to the fact of incompatability QOS feature between them.

we have a old Nexus 5010 running version 5.0(3)N1(1)it is in a franckenblock(like frankenstein) ie . we bought the parts and create our own system design before VCE was created. He have since bought VCE V block for our production sites. we use the franc ken block to test before we migrate to the production v block 300 FIX the issue we have is the 5010 will only see two 1 Gb/s SFP fiber modules in the first 12 slots. All these slots are dual 1g/10G. If we add more than two, it claims not to see them. We tried swapping the sfp and using both sfg-GE-MM and GLC-SX-MM moduels, no difference at all 1g sfp are in the first 5 slots. only the first two slots are up.the others say "Link not connected" or "SFP not inserted"all five links are the same SFP and are plugged in other switches.the green link lights are on plugged in SFP, even when the CLI states they are not plugged uni tried both two types of 1 Gb/s SFP. sfg-GE-MM and GLC-SX-MM ,i move the sfp between slot 1,2 and 3,4,5. nothing changed,From "sh int brief" you can see that it can see the sfp ie they are all 1Gfrom "sh int status " it sees 1g but why does it say type 10G?why when i go to the "int e 1/5" and try switch port mode now, it can't mode and trunk at now there (;also how to i stop or clear EU51 %SYSMGR-2-TMP_DIR_FULL: System temporary directory usage is unexpectedly high at 87%.i put as much info in the attached file as i could.

I am looking to add the IPS module to my ASA 5510's. I am contemplating only purchasing one module and placing it in the active ASA. I am willing to accept that in a failure scenario I will loose the IPS functionality until the primary ASA is recovered. I have not had a chance to talk to my SE to see if this is even possible. Has anyone attempted a deployment such as this? Will it work and is it supported?

We are running ACE 20 modules in highly available active / standby (all active contexts on one module) mode. Currently they are on A2 (2.4) version. We are going to upgrade them to A2 (3.6a). The question is that how ling can we run them in two different SW levels? In otherwords can we have few days between upgrading both modules?

I am having issues trying to combine two modules into one VDC. The modules are as mentioned below: When I try to combine module 1 & 10 as shown above, the nexus 7000 switch displays 'Not compatible'. I've read the online guide and it mentions that the F2 and M1 module cannot be combine into the same VDC. Problem is, my customer has already purchased the module, how do i solve this problem? If I separate the VDC, how does module 1 talk to module 10 if user wants to send traffic to Internet or Server Farm?
