We have two 6500 core switches and one(primary) of them is running in VTP transparesnt mode and the other (secondary) one is running in VTP client mode. I would like to change the VTP mode of the second switch to transparent mode. Would it cause any issue. I guess i have to create VLANs onto the switch.

What could be the best approach to minimize the downtime or avoid disrupting the production. I have couple of thoughts, one method is to build the core and then replace the existing core, another option is to build the new switch as the second VTP server and once it recieves all the VTP information then disconnect the old server.

My ACE module rebooted itself and after the reboot it lost all the config and it has been booted with factory default setting.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a switch layer 6500 series connected to a firewall, the port configuration between them is layer 2, in another words I do not configure an IP address in the Cisco switch port to conected it in the firewall, but when a apply a policy on firewall it lose communication with others vlans, just the vlan that is connected between the switch and firewall works, attachment the design. I think that is necessary to configure the connection between the firewall and switch as layer 3 ( a port with IP address in the switch), but I would like to know why? The switch is configured with about 10 vlan and it is a inter vlan routing, a default route is configured in the switch where the gateway is the firewall.

We are using a Ace module running version 3.0?We do have a service which can now be reached by a url like https://www.xxx.com/yyy/ < notice the last /This is running via the Ace which terminates SSL and so on..
So now our client wants an url like https://www.yyy.com . The backend realservers and place of virtual dirs on IIS stays the same.
So now /yyy/ needs to be added to the backend realserver request, so the correct virtual dir is used. Therfore I need to add this Uri towards the realserver.
when I do a show module in my cat 6509, the standby sup is saying unknown, it has the same IOS as the primary card.

I'm looking at upgrading our FWSM modules in our 6500's. They're the WS-SVC-FWM-1 modules.
We're running on version 3.2(12) at the moment and I'm looking to jump up to 4. Any recommendations around whether I should to go to 4.1(6) or 4.0(16)? I Just deployed some of these new modules and running A4.x code. How to configure an ACE with the maximum context?
We run in tranparrent mode with 110 Contexts, we found that with a base config for each context(80 lines of code) this would only leave us with 7% of available RAM. The Device begins to shut down services @ 5%. like SSH and others.
So, Is this even possible to configure 250 contexts and still manage the device.
Cisco IP phones attached to a Moduke in one of my Cat6500 access Switches suddenly went down. Upon closer inspection of the Switch Sys log, I observed the following Sys log error messages: [Module 9 is experiencing the following error: Inline Power Module - PS Voltage bad. ]A sh Mod output indicates the PoE daughter card and Main Module are "ok" - see attached output. It appears issue is related to the the actual Power Supply module and not the blade module and installed PoE Daughter card. I am inclined to open a TAC case for a PS replacement, but wanted to see if this can be resolved without a hardware replacement. At this time all 48 IP phones attached to this module are out of Service.
