Cisco Infrastructure :: 2620 - Configuration Register Stuck At 0x3922

Sep 29, 2002

I X modem an IOS file to my 2620 router and in the process set the console bps to 115200 which changed the register to 0x3922.  Now when I try to connect from the console with any bps, I get garbage!

I can connect from the AUX port and get to the User Exec. mode but since no privileged password is set, I can't get any further to change the config register back to 0x2102.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2620 - Get New Home Lab / Configuration?

Feb 10, 2013

I finally decided to get my own home lab so that I can configure to my hearts' content and not have to wait for access at the school to do it. I have three 2620 routers inter-connected with wic2t cards, and five 2950 switches. I have already set the config reg. on the routers to 0x2102 so that I can save my configs when I power down. When I pulled up the config regs on the switches, they all had 0xf as the reg number. Is this a good config reg number to have if I want to save the config before I power down?

Also, what would be a good ios version to have running on the switches and also the routers? I have access to other cisco IOS' but I want to double check. With this setup I would practice bgp, ppp, frame relay, rip2, ospf,eigrp, stp, pvst,pvst+, Rapid pvst+, rstp, and mstp.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Why Is 3750 Switch Have Configuration Register Of 0xF

Apr 17, 2012

I am uploading new configurations to my Cisco 3750 stacked switch and noticed that after the load I cannot log back into the switch because my password somehow was changed. After performing password recovery and getting back into the swtch, I noticed the configuration register was 0xF. I have never seen this before. The config-register command does not seem to be supported to change it back to factory default. The switch is on a ship which has several power hits when they switch power from shore to ship power.Can this cause the configuration register to change? What is the best way to change the configuration register?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6509 - Configuration Register Is 0x2101 On Supervisor720?

Mar 13, 2012

Last night I've upgraded a catlyst 6509 (non-redundant), during the upgrade I# run into the problem that the 6509 only wants to boot from sup-bootflash, and that it took an old image from sup-bootflash.I deleted this old image and then the node came into rommon mode.There I did the boot command and refered to the correct image on disk1:Now the boot succeeded. Just in time before I run out of my maintenance window.

I did some investigation and looked into the supervisor (using attach 5 and remote command switch show boot) and detected that it's configuration register is on 0X2101 (This is because I run into problems a week ago because of a corrupt flash disk and changed this in rommon mode , without changing it back, I'm afraid I'm not totally known with the 6509)

Question is now how can I change the configuration register back to 0x2102 without any service interruption (It will cost me quit some goodwill if I have to boot the node for the third time in three weeks)?

Cisco Infrastructure :: IGMP Snooping Configuration For Multicasting On Catalyst 3020

IGMP Snooping configuration for Multicasting on Cisco Catalyst 3020

Our switch model is "Cisco Catalyst Blade Switch 3020 for HP" We are building HA (High Availability) Databases infrastructure. Currently, there are two nodes(hosts- servers) and two above switch for HA.

Oracle said we need to turn off the IGMP Snooping in order to use the multicasting for their interconnect communication. So my question is:

Q1> Is there any way to use Multicasting without turning off IGMP Snooping on Switch side?

Q2> If 'yes', how can we configure the switch for Multicasting ?

Oracle uses 230.0.1.0 & 224.0.0.251 IPs with 42000 range port for Multicasting communication.

Cisco Switches :: 2620 DHCP Through VLAN

Jan 18, 2013

I have a 2620 Cisco Router plugged into a 2924 Cisco switch by a trunk.The vlan configuration works, I subdivide my router interface with dot1q and have virtual machines on different vlans and everything works perfectly.The problem comes with a DHCP request.Let's say that I have my local lan on the native VLAN 1. I create a VLAN 25 in the switch and create a fa0/0.25 in the router.In the switch, I plug the cable modem from my ISP in a port on vlan 25In the router, I go to fa0/0.25 and issue "ip address dhcp".The DHCP request goes out, but never comes back. The problem seems to be in the switch because if I try the same thing with a virtual machine I have on a trunked VMWare ESXi server, I get the exact same results. I just don't get the IP address from the ISP.The next step would be to monitor the port on which the cable modem is connected and sniff the packets to see if the DHCP request actually gets back through.

2620 - 79xx Series VOIP Phones

Jun 10, 2012

I have some 79xx series VOIP phones that are acting VERY strange ... if you are familiar with these series phones once plug them into the PoE switch they look for a TFTP server with the call manager files to acquire all the info they need to work .... i have them set up on a 2620xm router running IOS c2600-ipvoicek9-mz.124-15.T14 along with call manger 4.3. My router is my TFTP server and i have hooked up and fixed over 50 of the same series phones with out a problem.

Now here is my issue ... when you goto press the SETTINGS button on the phone you are allowed to go into the settings of the phone to change all the ROUTER,TFTP,ETC info to allow you to connect your phone to the CALL MANAGER or you can set up DHCP and it will acquire the info automatically. When i press the SETTINGS button nothing happens .... i can reset the phone to factory defaults by holding the # button then 12345678*0# then 2 not saving the info and i can hit the restart buttons which is * 6 SETTINGS buttons together and that will let me restart the phone but i cannot manually set up this phone to do anything .. it will not acquire info form my DHCP server and will not find my TFTP server at all =( the phone SETTINGS BUTTON does not respond at all ..only when restarting the phone.
