Cisco Switching/Routing :: Which WIC Or NM Ethernet Card Compatible With 2620
Jan 10, 2012
Which WIC or NM Ethernet card is compatible with a 2620, (non XM) router? I have seen conflicting information on compatibility. I am wanting to connect this router via an Ethernet Port with a non Cisco router that is connected to my ISP.
I am attempting to add an additional ethernet port on a Cisco 2620 router using a NM-2FE2W card, however the card is not being detected. I read that this card is compatible with this model router, but I have also notice that there is a version 2 of this card. Have I ordered the wrong card or do I possibly have a defective card? My ISO version is 12.2(26) on the router. If this card is not compatible, what is the recommended card for adding an additional ethernet port on this router?
I am looking a 16 or 24 Port Ethernet (NON POE) card for my 2800 Cisco Router NM-16ESW is EOL/EOS and the replacement is shown as SM-ES2-24 However SM-ES2-24 is not supported on Cisco 2800 Series.
I am a recent student to Cisco products and I have purchased some (what I thought was good) lab equipment to learn with on a budget. What I have is a 2948G switch and a 2620 router. My issue is this: the router has only one fast Ethernet port. Is it possible to use V LAN's and V LAN Interfaces on the router and switch to somehow emulate a second interface to connect to a WAN or sub net?
I finally decided to get my own home lab so that I can configure to my hearts' content and not have to wait for access at the school to do it. I have three 2620 routers inter-connected with wic2t cards, and five 2950 switches. I have already set the config reg. on the routers to 0x2102 so that I can save my configs when I power down. When I pulled up the config regs on the switches, they all had 0xf as the reg number. Is this a good config reg number to have if I want to save the config before I power down?
Also, what would be a good ios version to have running on the switches and also the routers? I have access to other cisco IOS' but I want to double check. With this setup I would practice bgp, ppp, frame relay, rip2, ospf, eigrp, stp, pvst, pvst+, Rapid pvst+, rstp, and mstp.
I am trying to create a backup of my 2620 router so I can use for GNS3.
I have only configured the IP address on my FastEthernet port. Having many issues with no connection to my pc, finally I found that you must enable the interface 'no shutdown'. Now I have a valid connection
I have made no other configurations on this router, everything else is default.
I can successfully PING from both ends
**PROBLEM: My problem is that when trying to 'copy flash' to my TFTP server, the response is**
Router ISP >>> Switch 2940 >>> Router 2620 >>> Host (Tacking dhcp from my 2620)
I got servers and other switches 2950 working perfect from the 2940....but the 2620 or even a Switch 3550 (in router L3 port), has the same issue...do not share connection with Host's behind them, I got IP on the host, pinging the Fa0/1 (dhcp), pinging the Fa0/0, but cannot ping the GATEWAY and not surf the internet.
I am new to Cisco networking (I just passed my A+ test and am working on my Network + test with an end goal to finish with a CCNP) and I bought a Cisco 2620 XM and a 1605R to figure out how to setup and practice on. In my house we have Verizon Fios with the standard Verizon appliance feeding internet to the rest of the house. My question is that will my Cisco appliances be usable with an out connection from the Verizon appliance? I am concerned because the connection that comes into my room from the Verizon router would be considered a LAN connection, not a WAN? Also in order to configure the router, I believe it needs an RJ-45 to serial to plug into a computer for setting up. My computer doesn't have a serial port so will an RJ-45 to USB work (since that is serial as well)?
I have a lab setup to take my CCNA and CCNP and I'm having issues trying to get WAN connectivity back to a switch at the end of my network. My lab environment consists of 1 - 2950 switch, 1 - 2620 and 1 - 2621XM. I have 1 Ethernet connection from each router to the switch and 1 serial connection from the 2620 to the 2621XM. I have the serial interfaces in a shutdown state right now so there is no loop since I do not have Spanning tree setup on the ports on the switch yet.
Right now using the fast ethernet ports on the routers and I have no issues its when I shut down those Ethernet ports and try using the serial interfaces when I start having issues. So my network layout is Ethernet from switch port f0/4 to port f0/0 on 2620 and serial from s0/1 on the 2620 to s0/2 on the 2621XM. My 2621XM f0/1 is whats connected to the WAN and I have no issues getting to the WAN from my 2621Xm or my 2620 but when I try pinging any website or even my WAN default gateway from my switch I get nothing!
Ive also noticed that when I do a IP NAT translation (after accessing the WAN from my 2620) on my 2621XM the source IP is of my serial connection not the ip of my 2620 router? I have my default gateway on the 2620 as the the IP of my serial interface on the 2621XM and vice versa because my LAN network is 172.16.1.0 and my WAN is 172.16.9.0. I have a /31 setup between my serial connections 172.16.11.0 (s0/1) is on the 2620 and 172.16.11.1(s0/2) is on the 2621XM. I used the SDM (ver 2.5) to setup NAT to have f0/1 with Nat outside and s0/2 as Nat inside. Encapsulation is HDLC between the serial links. Ive attached the running configs of the switch and routers.
I have 2650XM router and 2620 Router Both routers have built in WIC T1 CSU/DSU cards
2620Router --
2620Router#sh int se0/0 Serial0/0 is down, line protocol is down Hardware is PQUICC with Fractional T1 CSU/DSU Description: DTE side MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1544 Kbit, DLY 20000 usec, reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255 Encapsulation HDLC, loopback not set
[code]....
My question is that cisco website says there are two type of cable connections for this type of config --which are --T1 CSU/DSU ConfigurationSet one CSU/DSU to clock source internal, and the other CSU/DSU to clock source line. The linecode, framing, data-coding, and timeslots must be set the same on both CSU/DSUs.Four-Wire 56k CSU/DSU Configuration For my network connection which type of config i should use??Secondly i try to connect these ports by normal crossover cable it did not work.So for this type of connection i know i need T1 cross over cable-- which has RJ 48 connections at both sides.I check cable from ebay which is RJ45 RJ48 cross over -- will this cable work in my router to router connection.
I am trying to build a site-to-site VPN between cisco 1811W on a main office and SRP541W on a remote office.I already have the configuration for the 1811W through SMD, but can't install the SDM on the SRP541W.Does the SRP541 is compatible with SDM; and if not is there any other GUI to configure a VPN tunnel on SRP541.
I currently have a Toshiba Satellite L750-04K, which has an Atheros AR9002WB-1NG wireless card. It's specs say it's a 802.11b/g/n, but it only offers 1 stream N and max's out at 150Mbps. While the card incorporates Bluetooth, it's a very basic wireless card. While I had a 'G' series router, the laptop connectivity was great and never dropped me off the network, however when I upgraded my router to a new 'N' series, my laptop would constantly drop off my network, requiring a constant resetting of my wireless adapter to get me back online. Other devices were fine on the same router.Thinking my laptop was faulty, I sent it back to Toshiba under warranty and while it tested ok, they replaced the wireless card as a precaution. When I got it home, it was exactly the same, constantly disconnecting.I've tried every troubleshooting measure available and I've come to the opinion I need to put a much better wireless adapter in my machine, especially if I want to utilize 'N' routers.
The wireless card I want to install is an Intel 6235 6235ANHMW WIFI WLAN BT Bluetooth 4.0 Half MINI Card. I chose this card as it has Bluetooth incorporated and it's also dual band and offers up to 300Mbps.Will this wireless card be compatible with my Toshiba L70-04K and apart from drivers will there be any other changes I'll need to make to ensure the card works correctly? I'm not worried about physically installing the card, my main concern is ensuring it's compatible and relatively simple to get it working and able to connect to my network. [code]
i will be buying 2 x 3750-E and will connect our server with 10G to the x2 port of 3750. is X2-10gb-SR compatible with this? do i need any converter module?
I curently have 2 Data centers connected with a Metro Ethernet Connection. Each Data Center has 6500 with Sup720s. The Metro Ethernet connection is currently conected by a L3 routed interface. I now need to enable VRFs between the locations and want to determine the best way to adjust the Mero. I was considering adjusting the routed interface to use Ethernet sub-interfaces. Each VRF would be given a different subinterface over the Metro Ethernet connection. I have done this on internal LAN connections but am concerned about exteding across data centers over Metro E.
I installed W8 on my Dell Studio 1735 computer. Wireless Internet access is very very slow. I have not this problem with W7 on the same computer. I tried it with an external Network cable. Very fast, 50mbps. I also tried it with an external USB Belkin wifi adaptor. It works fine. Computer has a Dell Wireless 1500 N WLAN Mini Card. Driver version:5.100.245.20 Date 2012-03-13. I cannot find any better driver.
I have one more problem that I don't have with W7. I cannot rate the computer. The Windows experience index cannot go past the test of Direct3D 10 Texture Load Assesment.
I need to replace an older 3560 with a new 2960-S and am wondering if the SX SFPs I already have will be compatible with the 2960-S. [code] I cannot find any way to get the part numbers of the SFPs.
At a college I'm trying to setup a Cisco 2960 to be used on a VLAN 248 tagged on the uplink port that uses Spanning Tree/. Here is the following from the Cisco:
show interfaces trunk
Port Mode Encapsulation Status Native v lan Gi0/1 on 802.1q trunking 1
Port V lans allowed on trunk Gi0/1 248 [code]...
On the Alcatel OS6850-48L the following is setup: bridge 1x1 248 priority 3287 Vlan 248 802.1q 5/8 "cisco"
I cannot make a change on the Alcatel, I can only administer the Cisco. I was able to get things working fine (as a test) using a Net gear or HP switch instead of the Cisco. However we have a Cisco switches and would not like to have to buy HPs. Is there a compatible spanning tree protocol to use on the Cisco with the way things are configured on the Alcatel. I need to stick to standard RSTP (802.1w) ieee standards and not something Cisco proprietary.
It is understood that sub-50 ms ERPS convergence can be achieved with certain HW/SW combinations.
1) What are the platforms supported (and with what FW/SW) has this been tested ?any results that can be shared?
2) Link failure detection in GigE on Copper is slower compared to GigE over "pure" Fibre; so no sub-50ms would be possible with Copper ring ports.is sub-50ms convergence achievable with "combo SFP ports" ?
we are trying to use the SD Card Slot on an Cisco ME3600X (ME-3600X-24FS-M) IOS Version 15.2(4)S2. If i try to copy a file from the sd card slot to the flash there is no Option like "slot0:" or something alse and no syslog message appers while adding the SD Card.
I have this 2801 in a critical environment. We had a brief power blip, and even though the router is on UPS, something happened. Anyway, after working with TAC, they determined the flash card had gone corrupt. Lucky for me I had a spare 2801 in my office, I grabbed that flash card and plugged it in and we're back up and going.
TAC sent me a new flash card. No matter what I do, I cannot get IOS to load on this thing! I am stuck in rommon. Here's what I've tried:
tftpdnld in rommon, times out. using another 2801 as a tftp-server. doesn't complete. using xmodem. ugh. never seems to get started. booting the router with a known good flash card, so I can get to ena, and "copy tftp flash".
have used tftpd32, Solar Winds TFTP server, What's Up Gold TFTP server, and open source tftp from sourceforge. With the tftp32, it always gets to exactly 73% download and then times out (it says, I have a feeling it's noty really a timeout). I have tried having the router and tftp server the only devices on a switch, i have tried the router plugged directly into the tftp server with a cross connect cable. No happiness. The open source tftp server reported (and I have to paraphrase, I am not near the router) "client does not support block number recount" or something like that. The client being the 2801.
The iOS file is about 45M. Someone asked me if the flash card was formatted...would that matter? would the tftp even start if it wasn't?
OK, I've gone on long enough. TAC is dispatching a new card AND 2801!
Recently my company buy a EHWIC4ESG card and put into the cisco 1941. The reason we buy this card is because the in built two network ports of cisco 1941 are being used up. g0/1 is being connected to the internet and g0/0 is being connected to the office switch (192.168.5.x)
We have two servers (192.168.6.x and 158.55.33.x) that required to be connected to this router 1941 where the router will be configured as VPN for external user to access this server.
The EHWIC4ESG card is put into the router 1941 and after typing the "running-config" command, i could see it create a vlan 1 interface and
