My existing 4006 chassis is using Supervisor III (WS-X4014). I have another 4506 chassis using Supervisor IV (WS-X4515) and a Net flow Services Card (WS-F4531) build on top of it.
I need Net flow Services Card in 4006, so can I just replace the Supervisor IV (WS-X4515) used in Cisco 4006? Is it compatible with 4006?
I have an older 4006 with a Supervisor II+. We now need OSPF support, which the Sup II+ does not provide. I have access to a Supervisor III (WS-X4014), which will provide OSPF support. Question is, are there any gotchas to shutting down the switch, replacing Supervisor Engines and then powering up? What about the flash card? On my current system, it appears that I am only using bootflash: , which is where the IOS resides (see below). Since my startup config is in nvram and my IOS is in bootflash, what's the purpose of the flash card in slot0: ? and where does NVRAM and bootflash actually live on a 4006 ( on the Supervisor Engine?)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Catalyst 4006 with Supervisor II engine. I have 48 port 10/100/1000 blades installed in it for connection to my servers. I am having a lot of problems with performance when connecting servers that are using 100 MB NICs. The speed of the connection is really bad. I have attempted setting the ports and NICs to 100MB Full duplex instead of auto-detect, but still get the same results.
I also have a 10/100 quad-port card installed in a NetApp filer. All four ports are trunked together and connect to 4 ports in the Catalyst. The ports in the Catalyst are trunked using the Port Channel feature of the CatOS. When I look at the port statistics on 3 of the 4 ports from the quad-card, there are a ton of runts and errors (both transmit and receive). The 4th port is fine, no errors.
I am currently running a 4506 with a sup V engine. I have purchased a sup 7 engine. Is there a guide on how to perform this task. I am sure I need to do an IOS update as well.

I have a Cisco 4006 (old school) and I am trying to setup etherchannel over 4 port. The issue I am having is flapping, it see's two IP addres on the same MAC address. The reason for this is bonding, so all 4 ports are bonded, but I have two servers that need to send a heartbeat between the two server hence the second IP, and the other IP address to send/recieve.

[code] So can we put some ports on different switches in, let`s say vlan 50, with different ips? For example, Port 0/3 on Switch 1 and 0/8 on Switch 2, but keeping the ip of the "old" vlan? I am able to ping the ACS ENGINE 4.2 from any PC or device. But I am not able to ping any device from the box while logged in via SSH. while I can do so while logged in via console. Is this some kind of bug or is there any patch which after installing will allow me to ping devices from ACS SSH sessions.

Both building have the same network setup. 2 Core Switches 4506-E Chassis having glbp for layer 3 redundency on about 20 vlan in each building with default intervlan routing in place.Below is a simple sketch of how these are connected. What I need is to setup routing onto the blue fibre links so that networks from building 1 can reach networks on building to and vias versa. I would also need to implement some sort of redundency since I have to fibre links between the 2 building.

Iam new on Acs 4.2 and i want to use Certificates to authenticate my windows XP Client and Igels.
On Windows Xp i selected : IEEE 802.1X Authentication enable EAP (Peap)
But i dont understand the Certification of ACS 4.2.
I generated a Self-Signed Certificate. Is this right ? and under installed Certificates the Certificate Status is okay.
Do i have to create for each windows Machine one user Account under user-Setup to authenticate the Machine?
Where do Windows Xp know whitch Certificate he have to take ?

Iam triying to configure ist szenario till 4 days and it still dont work.. On Windows i Only get the Error" authentication failed" on the Switch the same : dot1x : Authfailed
I am getting High CPU utilization in one of my switch which has many layer 3 vlan interface and many other routing interface.In the o/p of show process cpu i get 64 % CPU utilization. The o/p is as below

And rest of the other process are very normal. Only cat4k Mgmt LoPri is consuming very high cpu utilization. I have checked all the interface input queue and all are very normal.
I just started a new Position and they have CATos still runing on some of there 4506 and 6509 switches. I amy trying to come up with a plan to upgrade the switches to IOS but I dont know if they will take it or not. I know I need to get flash Cards to hold the IOS but i need to make sure that I get the right IOS for the Switches.
