Aug 2, 2010We are planning for the office move and I need to estimate how much power we need to run a fully populated Cat4507R switch. The chassis include 2 Sups, one 6-port fiber line card, two 48-port Gig and two 48-port FastEthernet line cards. The switch also has redundant power supply (4200ACV 1400W). According to Cisco Power Calculator [URL], I need 49.5 amp 110-120V circuit. It seems to be too much higher than real world. How many 20amp circuit we would need when all the ports are fully utilized?

Oct 8, 2012We are trying to monitor two stacks of CISCO WS-c3750X running IOS 12.2.(58)SE.
We can get the state of the power supplies, but after a power cycle or reboot of the switches the identifier of ONE of the Power supplies ALWAYS change. The OIDs for the rest of the PS do not vary. The problem happens in the two stacks.

We did several times with 12.2.58SE1 and SE2, sometimes the power stack is created automatically, sometimes needs to be configured manually. Looks like the behavior is not the same. Maybe it depends on the number/type of switches and number/type of power supplies.

Oct 26, 2011Does the color strips on C3750X stack power cables mean anything, I mean the green and yellow ones. On all Cisco pictures the green one seems to be plugged in the upper ports. I asked local Cisco representative, but he seems not to be sure. We tried to try different scenarios, and it looks like it does not matter what cable end we use. We do not have any external power supply, only interconnecting C3750Xs.

May 3, 2012I want to chose the right UPS product for 7 x WS-C3750X-48PF-L in one stack. The Cisco data sheet says 1100W AC, however, I am only connecting 20 IP Phones, each phone will consume around 12.2 Watts.
So in this case, How many watts would I need for the whole 7 switches in the stack ?
in other words, only the first switch in the stack will be connected to 20 IP Phones, but the remaining switches in the stack will be Data Only thought the remaining switches in the stack are capable of delivering a full PoE.

Apr 15, 2011I have several 2960s and 3750s and two 6506 (ws-cac-3000w) recently move to new location The power outlet is the same ,but Volt is different current 2960/3750 use this(one phase 3 wire) 220v and new location change to (from 3 phase 4 wire -> one phase 220v)6506 current using(one phase 3 wire) and will be change to (from 3 phase 4 wire -> one phase 220v)

Aug 20, 2012I have a SBS 2008 box at a clients with 16 gig of ram in it. Right now the server is using 88-90% of it's ram. I have checked the device manager to see how much ram the services are using and everything except for a few services are using less then 200,000k each. The exchange store is using around 600,000k which is right in range and then a couple w3wp.exe services are using around 300,000k or less. Now here is where the issue lies 3 SQL engine processes are using a total of around 7 gig of ram. My client runs a custom software that uses sql express to host the database. And I am just wondering if it's normal for SQL to use this much ram in 2008 or should I be talking to the software company about the large consumption. It's basically using half of the available ram on the server. I did upgrade this machine from 8 gig ram about 9 months ago and it was fine for a while then all the sudden SQL just started eating more ram to point where we are today.

Jul 31, 2012I got a pair of new C3560X-24T-S switches with C3KX-NM-10G modules, and am trying to get a long distance 10G link up using 3rd party SFP-10G-ER SFPs (XGIGA with Cisco coded IDPROMs)I've enabled use of unsupported transcievers with the following commands:service unsupported-transceiver no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalidAfter that the switches accepts the SFPs but I get no light (sh int trans shows Tx -40), but if I insert a supported SFP first and then switches to my ER SFPs I get them to start transmitting, however I still don't LINK on the interface.I've tried with both 12.2(55)SE3 (that the switches came with) and 15.0(1)SE3 with same results.I know SFP-10G-ER SFPs are not supported on these switches, but are scheduled for the 15.0(2) release, but I was under the impression that they should already work using the above commands to enable the use of unsupported SFPs.So my question is basically: Is the new code in 15.0(2) really needed to make ER SFPs work, so I should just wait for that release, or are my 3rd party SFP simply broken/un-compatible with these switches?Also, could reprogramming them to look like SFP-10G-LR SFPs, which are supported, make any difference, or should it already have worked now with service unsupported-transceiver enabled if they were compatible?

Everything is working but i m not sure if the switchport config is right in that way.
As an example :
interface GigabitEthernet 0/6
switchport access vlan 10
switchport mode access
switchport voice vlan 100
spanning-tree portfast
When we connect an Cisco 7971g and an pc everything is working fine. But when i start wireshark on the pc behind the phone you see a lot of UDP Traffic source UC520 destination 239.10.16.8 or 239.10.16.16. At this point i m getting confused. So i start looking for the cisco phone config, VLAN ID on the phone is 100 (i think that is ok) but the PC-VLAN part is empty?
The main thing is, how can i stop this cisco-sccp traffic on the pc port (prtg shows me a average of 200 kbit/s) i think it is an config fault.
