Mar 19, 2013I am using Avaya VPN client & when I am getting connected succesfully to IPSec VPN Server, it is showing in status that IP NAT-Transversal is active on port 10001. In this case my IP is behind the NAPT router. When I am checking the logs, it shows that the request from my IP has gone through port 10001 (UDP) & hist server IP on port 10001 (UDP).But in some cases when the request from my IP is going through any other port than 10001 & hit server on port 500, I am not getthing authenticated for VPN. So, I am understanding that for my VPN connection, the requested has to be go on port 10001 of VPN Server and port 10001 of client.
how I can force every IPSec request to my VPN server to hit on port 10001 (UDP) so that i will not face any issue.

Aug 23, 2012I recently moved into a new apartment complex where Internet is included with the rent, meaning that I do not have a personal Internet connection. Instead, the apartment company has a general connection along with a router on each floor of the complex. They then wire out from that connection to an ethernet port in each apartment. Because of that, calling the Internet company doesn't work because they can only tell me that the router on my floor is getting an Internet connection (and unfortunately my apartment is too far away from that router to have signal strength to use it for wireless). Most tenants plug their personal routers into the ethernet ports and use them for wireless connection within their apartments.
When I try to plug my router in, I cannot connect. I get an error message saying that there is no Internet connection. When I plug my Mac directly into the ethernet port, I still get no Internet connection. I've even tried plugging my netbook (PC) in, and get nothing. I have tried network diagnostics, I have used multiple ethernet cables, nothing. The previous tenant apparently plugged her router into the same ethernet jack I am using and had no problems. She has been gone for a few months, and now I cannot connect.

May 2, 2012We are leasing an office space from a building that has it's own network center. This center can be used by each office/company to either house their own networking solutions or utilize their internet access if you plan only to use cloud servers or NAS servers. Our company (4 employees) is using this network center only for internet access with all of our data stored and accessed in our cloud service.We would like to access the internet wirelessly, which building does not provide. We were given one port and shared the link through the use of a switch. So my questions is would an access point add wireless connectivity without any information (ISP?) provided by the network center? I am not sure yet if we will be purchasing a router/AP or device made for to be used as an AP.

Nov 25, 2011I have a standard home network consisting of internet access provided by my cable company which is then disseminated to a variety of wired and wireless devices via a router.
I would like to create a second wireless network that is separate from my current one. This new wireless network would have extra access controls including access restrictions to some web sites using both IP address restrictions and using the OpenDNS DNS servers.
The picture below illustrates the current configuration. The question is: how can I connect ROUTER B to the internet using my current equipment (without buying another IP address from the cable company)?

So, in the above picture, COMP 4 is connected via wireless to this second network and cannot access anything on the first network and uses different different DNS servers.

I made some changes on my wireless modem router to stop dhcp and dns provided by my device. A server is now doing it, but at the same time I appear to have connection issues where I didn't before. In an attempt to resolve the issues I looked at the System Log and a number of things were coming up that concerned me. These are as follows:
-user: tr69c: Unable to retrieve attributes in scratch PAD
-user: Stored Parameter Attribute data is corrupt or missing
Additionally I'm getting a lot of kernel: Intrusion alerts which I can't determine how serious they are. Where to start tracking down these issues (if they even warrant investigation).
Cannot Access File Because Another Process Has Locked Portion Of File
Jul 26, 2011I am working on a Drupal site which is on a virtual server (the way it's been explained to me). I've been told I need to work with it through webdev. So I can copy a file off the server and onto my local machine. I make my edits and then try to upload it to the server. I get locked out with the message: Error 0x80070021: The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file. I have tried shutting down my code editor, opening and closing the connection, tried different methods of reaching the server (Cyberduck and through Window's map network feature) to no avail. What can I do?

Now reading the migration document it says I need to go to at least 4.1.1.24 first which will not be a problem, then I need a migation server, so that means I need another ACS server as the migration server. As I already have 2 ACS servers could I use one of them as the Migration server, ie take it out of production?

Cisco :: 7.0.164.3 / Data Migration From WCS To NCS?
Dec 10, 2012I am working on a migration from Windows based WCS 7.0.164.3 to NCS appliance (1.2.1-once it is available). After stopping WCS, I issued the export userdata C:WCS07Migrate. The process completed, but did not create a single zip file. I found 2 files created in the tmp directory.
One contains multiple a folder called tempDirUserDataFromDb - containing multiple xml files; and another file called ImportExport_ca<number> which contains the maps. Was there something incorrect in my command? Can I use still use these files on NCS? Or do I need to redo the export on the WCS?

Dec 24, 2011I'm trying to get all the templates and Maps I've created in WCS into our new NCS. The instructions say just run the export.bat file on WCS and then Migrate into NCS. I cannot find any export.bat file on version 7.0.220.0 of WCS. Is it only available in WCS version 7.0.164.3 ro 7.0.172.0? Do I have to use the export.bat file or can I just do a regular backup and restore?

The licensing and PAK were never used as well. My question is, can I still use the migration top level part # R-PI-1.1-UP-K9 to upgrade LMS 3.0 to Prime 1.1 because there was no licensing ever installed? How would the migration of the current licensing work with the new licensing PAK if that is the case? Or does the customer have to purchase a fresh Prime 1.1 licensing (top level part # R-PI-1.1-K9) because LMS 3.0 was never installed?

May 30, 2012We have a single 4404 that was setup long before I arrived with Guest networks that timeout and other such tweaks. Is there a document somewhere that shows a way to migrate the old settings to a new 5508 that we are purchasing? By the time the 5508 arrives I will have a very small window to setup the unit before a new wing goes live. I need the new unit as we have reached our limit of licensed AP's on the old 4404. It seems like everyone keeps talking about an easy way but no one says how to do it.
I have never setup one of these units before from scratch so I don't know how long it will take.

Feb 12, 2013I have old ASA with 8.0 configuration that includes huge number of ACL, NAT , VPNs , we got a new ASA with 8.6 , and we are planning to move the configuration to the new box , I'm wondering what is the best approach to do this , I'm thinking of one of the following scenarios1- downgrade the new ASA to 8.3 , the apply the config , remove the identity nat commands and names then upgrade to 8.6 and after that reconfigure the NAT rules and object groups .2- convert the old config manually to 8.6 code including NAT , object-group ,ACL and apply it to the new ASA ( this is going to be huge task). What are the commands that I have to look at when I convert to 8.6 and will the VPN configuration be affected ?
