Jun 11, 2013We are planning to split the Private servers from the DMZ Servers and configure an additional Interface and segment for this purpose.
Private Servers Segment: 192.168.4.0/24 (there is no DHCP all servers' IPs are statically configured)
DMZ Segment: 192.168.3.0/24 (This is a future deployment)
LAN Segment: 172.17.0.0/16
Both, Private Servers and DMZ Servers are in a collocation as well as the ASA5520. There are multiple Branch offices that uses subnets within the 172.17.0.0/16 Network and they are connected to the ASA5520 via Metro-E.
I do not know if this is possible but what I want to do is this:
In order to avoid the change of internal DNS records I want to mask the DMZ servers with a Private Server IP when a Private server or LAN host wants to access it like this:
The FTP server in the DMZ has the IP address: 192.168.3.100. But when a PC from the LAN wants to reach the FTP server it should points to its old IP: 192.168.4.100. This way the PC sends a packet to the ftp.corporate.net (192.168.4.100) the ASA recieves the packet and translate it to the (192.168.3.100) and send it out through the DMZ Interface.
Also if the Private Servers wants to reach the same FTP the ASA will act like a proxy-ARP and send the paquet to the DMZ by means of the translation of the IP.

Mar 20, 2012I Have exented vlan 120,121 from DC-1 to DC-2,the DC-1 and DC-2 are connected using L2 Trunk over fiber terminated on Cisco 6513 on both site ,the distance around 40 Km ,on the DC-2 i just assigned server-1 TO VLAN 120 while server-2 in vlan 121 ,but these servers unable to communicate neither with DC-1 Servers or betwen them locally on DC-2 ,pls note that the servers at dc-2 rely on DC-1 for routing.

Jan 12, 2012I have a server subnet that for the most part needs to be able to access the internet for patches, updates, etc. My SysAd wants 2 of the servers to not have access. The server subnet is attached to a 3750 and connects to an ASA to reach the outside world. Would it be better to setup an ACL on the SVI of the server subnet or on the outbound direction of the outside interface on the ASA.

We have setup a records for the 2 existing servers but cannot get NAT to work properly. We have a block of 5 IP's from FIOS. x.x.x.146-150 and have tried using 146 and 150 as the main WAN static IP with no success in getting the other address to communicate to the corresponding server.
What we need...
Server @ address 192.168.2.2 - SBS Server, standard SBS ports - currently working via port forwarding with WAN static of .150
Server @ address 192.168.2.3 - RDP, HTTP, HTTPS, and others. Some ports are the same as SBS. Trying to NAT .149 to this server.
Server @ address 192.168.2.4 - RDP, HTTP, HTTPS, and others. Some ports are the same as SBS. Trying to NAT .148 to this server.
All servers are on VLAN 1 which has a static IP of 192.168.2.1. DHCP is controlled by SBS.

Feb 13, 2012I'm having an issue with my work computer where it can connect to all of the servers in the company accross the country EXCEPT the servers located in New Jersey. I am running Windows XP SP3. I am able to ping the servers and get a response back, but my network drives are disconnected and I cannot open them. I have tried completely uninstalling the driver for my network adapter and reinstalling it with no affect. Mine is the only computer having this problem and I have uninstalled all software that was installed within the past month to be sure. It is ALL of the servers in New Jersey so I know it's a problem with my computer and not the serers. I had a similar issue a while ago where I could ping Google, but could not get to the website, and that ended up being the ZoneAlarm firewall that I had. That was fixed by uninstalling ZoneAlarm and doing an ipconfig /release & /renew. I re-registered some dlls but that didnt work either.

Mar 13, 2012I am trying to configure a Cisco 871 router.There are 3 servers on my network that need static public IPs but also still need to communicate on the local network.I have given my WAN interface the first IP in the block and set up PAT for the rest of the computers on the network with that IP which is working fine. Next I set up static NAT rules for the servers translating 3 of the remaining public IPs to the internal addresses of the servers.I can access those servers internally using the public IPs but not from outside the network. A traceroute from outside the network gets dropped when it gets to my ISP.I've never configured more than one static ip for a network before and i know i've just missed a step here. Do I also need to use static routes? Will that update the next hop's routing table? Do I need to make an ACL to permit any host to the servers? If so, do I use the internal or external address? I prefer Cisco terminal servers because of the ease and standard use of it.For a new project layout, I was given a opengear IMX4216. The terminal console is web based and I just dont like it(certain key-strokes not going through, terminal window size, etc).The project already has a separate PDU for remote power management, therefore this is simply being used as a remote serial console server.If I had to purchase the device for a similar purpose, I would not mind it, I guess. But to run it in prod, I'm not very fond of it!

Jan 25, 2012I am in the process of adding a lot of servers to sit behind our new ASA 5505 (8.4) firewall. At the moment I have added 2 servers and they are both NAT'ed to 2 different public IPs.
Server 1 192.168.10.1 -> 80.*.*.1
Server 2 192.168.10.111 -> 80.*.*.6
The first server can only be RDP'ed in to using its public IP which is what I want it to do. The second one has most of the service ports open like 443, 80, 110, 25 and etc. However when I try and browse externally to [URL]. I get an " Error 107(net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR): SSL protocol error." in Google Chrome or any other browser. and the ASA reports:11:27:30192.168.10.111262680.*.*.6443Inbound TCP connection denied from 192.168.10.111/2626 to 80.*.*.6/443 flags SYN on interface inside and I also get a Land to Land attack detected from 80.*.*.6 to 80.*.*.6
Is it worth setting up a DMZ or can I get away with the setup I have?

I have two servers with static IP addresses of 10.70.21.6 and 10.70.21.7 connected to the inside ports with default gateway of 10.70.21.1 (which is the IP address for the VLAN1 inside). I have already configured a default static route and NATing (PAT) so we have internet connection for the PCs. Now I need to configure the ASA to allow remote desktop connection to the servers (with static IP addresses above). Can I use a spare public IP address for each server and if so, whats the syntax? or is there another method? Jun 24, 2011We have a Cisco router 2901 with 10M dedicated link on Gi0/0 interface, 3 VLANs on Gi0/1 interface. The Gi0/1 is subinterfaced for default, LAN and DMZ segments.LAN is assigned 172.16.1.0/24 and DMZ 192.168.1.0/24. We host a web server (192.168.1.11) and dns server (192.168.1.18) on DMZ VLAN. On the same WAN interface we have confiugured PAT and NAT. For outside queries to DNS and WEB servers everything works fine but when we try to open the website on our web server from internal LAN, we can´t do it.
When PINGing the web server by its IP address 192.168.1.11 or by the FQDN, the requests respond fine. The domain.com and [URL] resolve and respond with public IP address of our WAN link as the DNS server is configured. But when we try to open [URL] in the Internet browser the website does not open.
What could be the issue? Can be anything with NAT or PAT configuration?

Nov 11, 2012I am trying to set up an ASA5550 so that I can access the servers behind it. Simple.
As of now, I am unable to even create an access-list to allow traffic from my remote IP into the firewall. As far as my level of experience with Cisco firewalls, it's basically zero but I have taken the Cisco CCNAX class and feel that I have a good understanding of the fundamentals. That said, we only dealt with routers and switches, and it's not impossible that I'm missing something that would be totally obvious to most folks on this board. I've used CLI and ASDM with no success.

Cisco WAN :: How To Route 2 WAN IP Address Into RV110W Through 2 Different Servers
Oct 7, 2011Just purchased a Cisco RV110W for our small business. We were told this was easy for us to use and secure enough for our small office and for our travelling sales staff to access our website.
We purchased 2 dedicated IP-addresses, 216.82.5.230 for access to one server, and 216.82.5.231 for access to a second server (these IP-Addresses given are just an example; not real).
These come into the single RV110W WAN port. The two servers are plugged into 2 of the 4 LAN ports.
But the WAN setup page only accepts one WAN IP-Address. So when we put in 216.82.5.230, the outside world can HTTPS into one server, but we don't know how to get them to HTTPS to the second server when the other staff uses 216.82.5.231.
Servers :: Can't Connect On Any Network?
Jan 16, 2013I'm having a problem connecting to multiple servers. I do know that I have stopped the windows firewall and taken out Norton and avg, yet I still can't connect to any servers. I've even tried on other networks! I can download torrents and surf the internet just fine though. I can't connect to an online class server to do my homework, and I've also tried to start playing WOW but neither will connect. I also don't see peer guardian 2 in *services*
