Cisco Routers :: RVS4000 Connects To ISP Can Ping And Tracer But Cannot Browse

Sep 22, 2012

Router connects to ISP but cannot browse the Internet. I have updated the firmware to 2.0.3.2 and that did not work. Reset the router to factory settings and that did not work either. Router had worked until the ISP changed the ONT. The router worked initally after the ONT was changed, but that changed sometime during the day as it did not work that night. The ISP gave me a netgear router and that works, so I can connect, but I would rather the RVS4000 would work. I assume a setting at the ISP, but do not know which one. I get an error on the computer "name resolution for the name dns.msftncsi.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded" I can ping, tracert and my little weather gadget works, but a web page will not display

Can't Ping Between Routers (Packet Tracer)

Mar 6, 2011

I'm trying to set up a network comprised of three LANs connected by serial. As this is a small part of an assignment I've been instructed to subnet into /26 and to use /30 subnets for my serial connections. At the moment I can ping between devices on each of the LANs but I can't ping between routers at all. Embarrassingly I'm not sure why, I think it may be something I've missed on setting up the serial links as I have set routers up fine before using other connection types.

Cisco Routers :: RVS4000 Lan Ping Access?

Apr 16, 2013

I have a RVS4000 and I would like to setup a Ping monitoring from the outside to a device behind RVS on lan network. I have created a rule to allow a service PING for range from WAN 46.xxx.xxx.xxx - 46.xxx.xxx.xxx to host 192.xxx.xxx.xxx but unfortunately this is not working. I can confirm that I can ping host 192.xxx.xxx.xxx from diagnostics on RVS.

Cisco Routers :: RVS4000 - IPSec VPN Tunnel / Cannot Ping From One Network To Other

Aug 5, 2011

I have a RVS4000 at one location and a second RVS4000 at home.  I have established an IPSec VPN tunnel between them and it is UP.  I can ping the routers from each end no problem.  I can ping  the IPs listed in the "Local Group Setup" and the "Remote Group Setup" from both ends no problem.  I can even open up a shared resource from a Win 7 machine (e.g. by typing \10.10.10.100 in start-run from a computer on my home network).

But - i can't ping anything else on one network from the other.  What gives?  I need to access a 10.10.10.101 machine but can't even ping it.

- both RVS4000 boxes have latest firmware (V1.3.3.5)
- home RVS4000 setup with IP 10.10.11.1
- home network has a server with IP 10.10.11.20
- other location RVS4000 setup with IP 10.10.10.1
- other location server setup with IP 10.10.10.100

Tunnel settings on home RVS4000 (the other location properly mirror these).
  - Local Security Gateway Type :  IP Only
  - Local Security Group Type : Subnet

Connects To Internet But Unable To Browse?

Oct 7, 2011

My flatmates and I recently got Sky broadband - their laptops connect just fine to the internet and they are able to use it without any problems. Mine also connects, but I can't do things like browse or use Skype, etc. When I go into Google Chrome, I'm told there is a DNS error that was unable to be resolved. Mozilla tells me that I have a problem with my server, and IE doesn't work either. Also, I am receiving very few packets. For every 2,000 or so packets that are sent, I only receive 2 or 6. When I click 'repair' I am told that my IP address cannot be renewed. The thing is, the internet works on my netbook at my mother's house, yet it doesn't work in my flat or other places like wifi spots.

I've tried so many things, such as clearing the DNS cache, releasing and renewing IP address, I've set the properties of the wireless connection to obtain DNS and IP automatically, I've tried pinging, I've turned off all my firewalls, I tried system restore, I've fiddled with certain keys in the registry, I even rebooted my entire hard disk last night and it still doesn't work! I'm really at my wit's end with this and I don't know what else to do. The problem is way beyond my comprehension now.

Home Network :: Wireless Connects But Doesn't Browse

Feb 12, 2011

My laptop is able to connect to the wireless router in my home, but the browser will never load a page, status is shown "connected". However, when I try on other laptops, they are able to surf the net. I have tried using my laptop at my friend's place with a different wireless router and it works at his place as I was able to surf the internet through my wireless! So, I've tried resetting my personal modem to factory default and it still doesn't work.

We've got about 15pcs at work, all on one network. All connect to one switch, and the router connects to the switch so all has internet access. Four pcs has got windows vista on, the rest XP. Yesterday I tuned on the one pc with Vista on, but could not connect to a mapped drive. I checked in the network places, i could see only three pcs, all three xp pcs. I can browse the internet, but not the pcs on my local network, and I can ping the pcs on the network.

Connected But Can't Browse Or Ping?

Feb 6, 2011

I've been stuck with a connection problem on my desktop for 6 months and nothing I do can fix it. My computer technician friends can't fix it either, so here's my last gasp attempt to get it online before I throw the machine out of the window.I'm using XP, don't recall ever having downloaded any Service Packs, and am trying to connect wirelessly to my home network here in France. Laptops and iPhones connect no problem. I don't think it's the wireless network card (which I bought nearly 5 years ago) as I had the same connection problem in my last apartment, with the same internet provider. I eventually borrowed an ethernet cable and managed to get it working wirelessly, but I have no idea how I did it.

The computer connects to the wireless network but I can't browse or ping. I've flushed dns, tried to input the ip manually, checked and unchecked LAN settings, checked and unchecked Internet Protocol TCP/IP, i've tried winsock, I've done the netsh reset and NOTHING worksI've checked the security settings, password and encryption a hundred times, I've disabled the firewall and today I've pulled out the recovery disks It didn't.Interestingly, the desktop has suddenly decided to go online once or twice (after I'd disabled Norton) but as soon as I shut down, I'm back to square one

Cisco Routers :: WRVS4400N Cannot Browse Anything

Dec 16, 2012

Recently installed a WRVS4400N router on my home network. Prior to that I was using the wireless built into my FIOS router. I wanted something more secure so I went with the WRVS4400N. I turned off the FIOS wireless and am only using the cisco wireless.

Im having intermittent issues with the wireless. I have many things hooked up to my wireless including a HP printer and a Sonos system. Most of the time if I just open my ipad I cannot see anything else on my network including the printer. If I try to see the Sonos system can cannot, sometimes I can open the app on my iphone and then I can see it.

Sometimes I can see the printer and sometimes I cant. Sometimes when I do see it and then print to it, it will be gone before it even prints.
I don’t seem to have any issues thru the LAN connections.

Also, ive noticed that the wifi is much slower than the old FIOS box.

FYI, when I remove the cisco and fire back up the FIOS wifi I don’t have any problems at all at any time. And its much faster.

I have tried channel 6, 11 and auto. Also turned off IPC and still no change.

Cisco Routers :: RVS4000 ACL Modification Bug

May 16, 2012

I have an RVS4000 running V2.0.2.7 firmware that gives me an "Invalid Character(s) Found" error message when I try to edit an existing ACL.

I'm trying to deploy 57 of these routers and would like to be able to use a pre-built config dropped onto each router.

I initially planned on editing the exported config with a find&replace for my local LAN addresses. Since that didn't work the next reasonable solution would be to edit the ACL list (much more tedious, but still better than hand-entering every ACL on all 57 devices).

when this bug will be addressed? Alternatively, if there is an offline configuration editing tool I would be one happy camper to have it!

Cisco Routers :: Two RVS4000 Don't Connect To Each Other

Sep 4, 2011

I don't know if my vendor mislead me, but I need to do this: There is a public subnet in my office, not a 192.168.x.x, but a real Public IP.The reason is that we do VOIP and those are only servers. I installed a RVS 4000 in that location, and assigned a PUBLIC Ip to BOTH the WAN and LAN, since when I connect from outside, using either QickVPN or another identical router, I need to be assigned one of the PUBLIC Ip's on the remote LAN. That is the whole idea of the project, to locate servers remotely and make them use our set of PUBLIC IP's. Well, so far I cannot connect either with the Quick VPN client, or using the VPN Wizard. It goes and creates the tunnel, without error, but when I click test, it fails.
