Cisco Security :: 5510 Doesn't Save Config And Disk0 Error
Jan 3, 2013my Cisco ASA 5510 doesn't save the configuration to the disk.

View 1 RepliesI deleted the flash from an ASA5510. I was able to tftp a version back into the device, but cannot seem to correctly have the box boot from this flash. I get the following error:
!WARNING: BOOT variable added, but not a valid image disk0: /asa831-k8.bin
*** Output from config line 41,"boot system disk0:/asa83..."
I have tried every save syntax i can think of to save this flash, but have yet to have it boot with an image ( I keep booting into ROMMON and have to tftp the image back in)
I recently had some trouble with my ASA 5505 in that the running config would not be saved after a reboot. Definitely looked like a hardware problem with the flash memory. I have since bought a new flash memory card and copied the contents of the old card to the new card. 1st problem I have is that I can see the image on the new card, but for some reason it wont boot into that image. I get /file not found
I then successfully load a new image to the device and it boots successfully. I then follow it with a
Cisco asa# config t
Cisco(config)# boot system disk0:/asa831-k8.bin
(to ensure it boots from the flash in the future) and I get
WARNING: BOOT variable added, but unable to find disk0:/asa831-k8.bin
I have since tried
ciscoasa# fsck disk0:
Unsupported file system type!
%Error checking disk0: (No such file or directory)
When ever I try to do anything with Disk0: i get the same error. (No such file or directory). I have also tried putting the old flash card in the ASA and I now get the same response.
since our update of Cisco ASA 5510 (active/standby cluster) from version 8.22 to version 8.24 it isn't possible to transfer files from/to a sftp client. The request just times out. SSH from this client is possible.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have Linksys SPS224. I've learnt how to change some parameters through SNMP. But this changes are applying to running-config, and, when switch reboots, all loose.
How can I save this changed running-config to startup-config through SNMP?
I have a 3750 stack of 4 switches that was installed about 2 years ago. Recently I was doing some work on the switch and realized that I am unable to save the config. I amobviously concerned that if the power fails or the switch reboots I will be reconfiguring it and that is not something I am interested in doing!

I am trying to assign a static ip and default gateway to my LAP through the CLI, but after I reboot it, I lose the config and it reverts back to dhcp. Is there any command to save the config to the AP through the CLI? I've tried all I can think of (i.e. wr mem, copy run start, etc...) and have looked throught the available commands but cannot figure out a way to do it..
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 2 Air-Lap1242 that wont save their config after reboot. They are managed by a WLC (4404) and it all seems pretty fine and dandy, but when i reboot them, they dont want to save anything.
I am setting them up as bridges (mesh), and it works until i reboot them, then I have to do it all over again.Using CLI to type in "write mem" or "copy running-config startup-config" only results in: "Building configuration... [OK] -> NVRAM Verification Failed".
We are getting "Warning: Saving this config to nvram may corrupt any network management or security files stored at the end of nvram.” And “% Configuration buffer full, can't add command: a0/14” message. " message, when we try to save the configuraiton in one of the 2950 switch.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI upgraded the firmware per one suggestion, but no difference.I am going thru the setup wizard with ethernet cable attached. I want to use them wirelessly so I clicked wireless setup, and entered my network info. At that point I get an error message saying it failed to save settings. I know the ID and password are correct.I have tried exiting the setup wizard and accessing the camera thru the web interface. All wireless settings are correct. The camera works FINE on web browser, myDlink, and even my iPhone app as long as the ethernet cable is attached.Other wireless devices have no trouble connecting to my router. Is there some setting on the router that can be preventing the connection? I've done some trial-and-error changes, like different ports and enabling/disabling UpNp on both camera and router.Oh and almost forgot to mention.I did call tech support, which was a joke. Some foreign lady was reading off a script that told me to reset, unplug, reboot everything. Then she gave me a case# and said upgrade the firmware.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have an old Win XP (SP3) desktop that just recently has a problems with attachments to emails. It simply won't allow me to open or save them.
I have tried both hotmail and btinternet.com (yahoo) emails. When I click on an attachment and choose either 'open' or 'save' the small grey box appears that usually shows the file action and download time info. However no info appears in the grey box and it just sits there (for hours). I have tried the same email attachment on another PC and it works fine so the problem is specific to this PC.
The file size is not a factor, as it fails to open attachments of only 100kb, nor is the file type (pdf). I can download large pdf files from a website with no trouble. the problem is just email attachments.
I tried switching off the Windows firewall, but this made no difference. The a/v is AVG9.0.
My 1140 doesn't write to the config.txt file. I'm not sure why. I have three of these access points that we changed the firmware to make them autonomous. The other two worked fine.

"Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration. My W-Lan works fine, I've replaced the cable with another cable, restarted everything five times over, and even tried plugging the computer directly into a wall.
When I connected my laptop via cable (tried several) It gave me the same error...?
Is there a problem with my router?

I'm running into and interesting issue concerning a twice NAT config.
We have a remote site that needs to connect to a server cluster on our end. Using ASDM I have created a NAT rule that uses PAT to map our server addresses to a single IP (this is due to constraints placed on us by the remote site). This in and of itself shouldn't be a problem. The issue is that the VPN tunnel won't come up unless I also map an address to the remote site's sever.
Example:
Appliance: ASA 5510
ASA Version: 8.4(2)
ASDM Version: 6.4(5)
Original Packet:
Source Interface: inside
Destination Interface: outside
Source Address: Server_Cluster
Destination Address: Remote_Server
Service: any
Translated Packet:
Source NAT Type: Dynamic PAT (Hide)
Source Address: Mapped_Server_Cluster_Address
Destination Address: Mapped_Remote_Server_Address
Service: -- Original --
Within the Translated Packet section, if I set Destination Address to the actual remote server address nothing happens when I attempt to bring up the tunnel. However, if I map an address to the remote server, the tunnel begins to come up and then fails during phase two (as the mapped address doesn't match the addressing that has been defined in the remote end's connection profile).
Initially I thought the issue may be due to an IP addressing overlap since both sites are running similar numbers, but the default route statement on our ASA, should contend with this issue. Also, each time I change the NAT rule, I change the connection profile to match those changes.
So, ultimately, what I wish to accomplish is to allow connectivity between my site and the remote site without having to map another address to their remote server. How may I do this?
I configured a 1841 router that connects to a DSL modem. This DSL connection is our Internet connection for vendor and IT testing. I have connectivity to the Internet using nat and have configured the router to act as a DHCP server. It seems to be working fine. I just want to configure some best practices for securing the device from the outside access. Is there some standard best practices I should be configuring?

View 10 Replies View RelatedWe have two offices in the US and one in Mexico. Our site in Mexico connects to our headquarters in the US over an AVPN/ MPLS circuit .Mexico has a separate Internet connection through TelMex. There is an ASA 5510 at headquarters and an ASA 5505 in Mexico. We have a fail over VPN set up in the ASAs for times when the MPLS circuit goes down. All Internet traffic in Mexico is supposed to be routed to the TelMex connection. All company traffic is supposed to be routed to the Cisco router. ASA is supposed to be last resort route. We have a fail over VPN set up in the ASAs for times when the MPLS circuit goes down. (Or at least we did until I had someone work on the configuration) Everything had been working fine for the last 4 years.
Yesterday when the MPLS went down, so did their Internet connection. I realized the Internet traffic is now coming through the MPLs circuit to head quarters and out our ASA. Obviously there is a problem with the configuration. I do not have enough experience to figure this out. I have attached the configs and the routes for both the ASA and the router.
I'm working on a computer that has no connectivity on wired or wireless connections. the wired eth card is a broadcom netlink card and the wireless adapter is an atheros ar5007eg. I found the drivers for the wireless on acer.com and removed the driver that was on here at first and put the one from acer. i cant find a network in range but device manager says its working fine. Then I found out the wired connection isnt working either and im getting the same messages from windows troubleshooter. It says both are "experiencing driver or hardware related issues and "make sure your internet protocol bindings are correct - ensure that ipv4 and ipv6 are selected in the config for the network adapter". it links me to the connection properties and ipv4 and ipv6 are checked off for both. futhermore, in the connection status window it says i have no ipv4 or ipv6 connectivity.

I have access to internet and everythig appears to be good, However asdm will never fully load, alway stuck at 17% or 77%, and I always see "parsing running config".
When I do a show run it will not fully load either, always stop at certain out put. 5 seconds after pulling the Comcast cable out both asdm and running config will load fine.
I m trying to set my friewall in my network. The network is very simple. Customer wanted me try with 8.1(3) version. But i was unable to downgrade the SP Rommon image. SP rommon is running in Gold region and I loaded the 8.1(3) from both disk0 and sup-bootdisk, even preferrence was given to region1 but still sup came up with gold region itself.
* Will i be able to downgrade from 8.5(4) to 8.1(3), if so, what are the steps.
* is there any limitation or bug where 8.1(3) will be unable to read disk0.
I am trying to configure redundancy with SSO and I need to get the same IOS on both supervisors. My issue is that I get an error when I try to copy the IOS from either the sup-bootdisk or the disk0 to the slavesupbootdisk. The Error is Invalid argument.
I have tried also to tftp to the slavesupbootdisk and get the same result.
