Cisco Security :: Amazon S3 Backup With PIX 501 Slow Router

Apr 24, 2011

We are in the process of setting up an Amazon S3 network backup of the NAS server we have in our office.  We are using a Synology NAS to backup to Amazon s3, and we use a Cisco PIX 501 to secure our network.  The backup from the NAS to Amazon is going painfully slow, so I contacted Synology to resolve the issue.  After they examined everything, they think the router is filtering outbound traffic, and this is causing the upload to slow down.  I was told the upload should happen over HTTP and HTTPS, and I made sure these ports where open through the Access Rules.  There are no rules defined in the Filter Settings.

I looked at the settings with the PDM, and I can't find where the filtering would be. I'm not too familiar with the PIX or all the network settings involved.

Cisco Security :: Backup WebVPN Personalization On ASA 5510?

Apr 1, 2008

I'm looking for a system to backup the configuration of the ASA like this I've noticed:

if the ASA is 5510 or higher and has sw 8.x and ASDM 6.x we have ASDM -> Tools -> Backup Configuration command that create a folder containing all configuration files and webvpn personalization

What I have to do to have the same command on ASA 5505 sw 8.x and ASDM 6.x? Or is there someting similar using the console too?

And what else for ASA which have sw 7.x and ASDM 5.x, is there the possibility to backup webvpn personalization?

Cisco WAN :: 887 / ATM Router As Backup

May 31, 2012

at the moment I have a 888 router that works fine, I want to configure backup (I already have configure ISDN backup but the performance it's to poor), and I want to use an other router 887 (that I already have) with adsl.

My idea is to configure the second router as stand alone gateway, and confiure in the first router a "ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 VLAN1 192.168.0.253 100".But I know that this second route is used only in case the interface status of primary route goes down but not in case fault only protocol.

configure a better routing or faulting procedure?

-----------------------------------
888
VLAN1 192.168.0.254
ATM0.1 1.1.1.1
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 ATM0.1
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 VLAN1 192.168.0.253 100

Cisco :: Backup Support Access To A Router?

Mar 8, 2012

I was just thinking about this the other day, iirc I read somewhere about hooking up a dial up modem to the aux port on a router so that if your service failed you could dial the router directly to get access and diagnose faults.

Does anyone still do this? or do you use other methods? Cause it seems a bit old hat to me and I figured if you are paying a line rental on a phone line why not get dsl as well?

Cisco WAN :: Configure 3G SIM Card For 887G Router Backup?

Jun 23, 2011

I have one problem regarding a configuration (or setting up) of  3G SIM card for 887G router backup. That  SIM card had a PIN code, so I disabled it, and now I can see that 3G  light flashes Blue, so it detects 3G network. Also I can see that modem  tries to dial up to connect to network, but with no luck. It has CHAP  APN. Also in configuration I've found that there is PPP CHAP username  and password, but I don't have any of those. I've tried to configure my  SIM card with Username and Password, but it doesn't save. At the moment I have: Cellular 0 is down, line protocol is down. Dialer 2 is up (spoofing), line protocol is up (spoofing).

SIM card status is OK. Network detects O2 - IRL - yes.

It detects the network, but cannot connect to it. I'm not sure how to setup the SIM card or how to unlock it.

Backup Internet Access Through Secondary Router?

Jan 30, 2013

I have two routers on my local network:

1. ADSL Wi-Fi router provided by my ISP. This is the primary router for my network which is connected to the internet. Router IP: 192.168.1.1 (DHCP enabled)

2. TP-Link wireless router which is connected to the primary router through its LAN port (not WAN) with its DHCP turned off. So I'm using this router ONLY to extend the network to another area. This is a 3G enabled router. Router IP: 192.168.1.2

There are two different wireless SSIDs but basically only ONE network (all the PCs connected through any of the two routers are on the same subnet and have same IP range i.e. 192.168.1.x). I want to use the 3G internet connection through the secondary router when the ADSL connection is down. Whenever the ADSL connection is down, I would just connect the 3G-USB to the secondary router, all the computers on the network should connect to the internet while skipping their route through the primary router WITHOUT CHANGING ANY SETTINGS. Is it possible? Do I need to modify the routing tables? Or is it possible by configuring the DHCP server to assign the primary DNS address as 192.168.1.1 and secondary DNS address as 192.168.1.2?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Human Readable Backup Of E1550?

Aug 9, 2012

I have a E1550 with a corrupt config that is acting very wonky lately (shows wrong info in some of the settings and doesn't always save changes). Since it may be the config that is at issue, I don't want to do a backup/resote, rather I plan to do a full factory reset and manully type everything back in.What would be nice is, creating a text based, human readable printout of the config for reference so that I don't have to manually type it all twice (once to save it, once for reentry).  PS3 ports, MAC filters, etc. have several entries, and they way the pages are designed it doesn't allow for easy, whole entry, cut and paste.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Unusable For Data Backup?

Jan 10, 2012

I have a 1.5 TB USB hard drive attached to me E4200.  Configuring it so that multiple computers have access and can read and write their files is quite simple.  I've followed the instructions and had no difficulty.

My problem is this, after about a week's time has passed any file that has been on the hard drive for more than a week become undeletable.  Any attempt to modify it or remove it pops up a message saying I need permission from a specific user (always the user that I am currently logged in as!) to perform the operation on the file.

When this starts to happen, the device is, otherwise, perfectly functional.  I will still be able to create new files and delete any newly created files from the drive without difficulty even when those files are in the same directory as the files that the device will no longer let me edit.  Examination of the file properties dialog shows that the files that the device refuses to allow me to delete are identical in every way to any new file that I create.  Yet newly created files are removable but these older files ... are not.

I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that the HDD mounting feature of the device just doesn't actually work as advertised.

FWIW:  all my computers are using Windows 7 with the latest build.  I do access the device from these computers wirelessly.

Linksys Wired Router :: How To Backup Complete Configuration Of BEFSR41 V3

Apr 6, 2009

I have finally been able to reconfigure my BEFSR41 V3 Wired Router to properly support my small server environment.  I would like to know if there is a way to make a complete Backup of the current configuration that should be restored to the router if it should become "reset" to factory defaults.  This happened to me approximately a week ago, and it took several days, a couple of phone support calls, and quite a bit of"grief" and aggravation/frustration before I managed to get everything re-configured correctly.  If it had been "Backed up" to a file, I could have restored it and been back up and serving websites in a few hours.  Instead it took almost a complete week!  Is it even possible to actually backup the router?  Or... must I just print each screen to be sure I get it all?
