Cisco Switching/Routing :: How To Connect Two 1760s Together Via WIC-1DSU-T1
Jan 12, 2012
I just bought two 1760's off eBay to create a home lab. I would like to connect them together but am not sure how. Instead of Wic T1 cards that connect with a serial cable, they are using a WIC-1DSU-T1 cards that have ethernet ports.
I haven't been able to find out much about these except that they connect with something called a T Crossover cable. I assume this is just an ethernet cable with the pins connected in a certain way but am not sure. Are these the same as a standard cross over ethernet cable or something else?

My 2691 Router has already 2 serial cards WIC-1DSU-T1 installed, When i install the 3rd serial card and reboot the router, it detects the 3rd card installed but 3rd card has no light.
When i do sh ver it shows 3 cards installed.
When i install this 3rd serial card to other Router then light shows on card and it works fine
So i am thinking if 2691 Router only supports 2 serial cards?

Today I got a pack of 7 Cisco T1 DSU/CSU WAN Interface Card (WIC-1DSU-T1-V2). I installed 6 of them (4 on a 2811 router and 2 on an 1841 router) and none of them would light up, show up in show controllers, or show up in show ip interface brief. Is there something I have to do aside from just inserting them in like getting software or entering in certain commands? (I installed the cards while the routers were powered off).

I have a remote site that still utilizes a single T1 connection to me. For multiple reasons we had to scrap the old T1 and have a new one put in. The old T1 resided on a T3 as channel 25. The new T1 is a standlone point to point. I removed the old config from my 7301 and programmed my 3725. I cannot figure out what is going on but the interface stays down/down. There is no loopback turned on, either manually or by the carrier. The AL LED stays amber regardless of whether or not I have a cable patched down. The CD LED remains green when I patch a cable down. LP is not light.I am using a straight through Ethernet cable to connect my 3725 to the smart jack. If you look at the show output below you will see DCD and CTS is down. Since the remote end was working and I just had the tech move the patch cable from one smart jack to another I am assuming the problem is on my side or with the carrierI already tried changing the clock sourced between internal and line. I also swapped out the WIC card for another one. I don't usually program T1 connections. [code]

I recently installed a WIC 1DSU-T1-V2 card into a 1841 router to add to a multilink bundle. I inserted it in Slot 1 and powered up the router and there was a new serial interface showing in the config automatically as s0/1/0. I was able to get it setup with ppp multilink and added to the multilink group. The problem is I need to do a sh controller or sh service-module to see if there are errors happening (I'm using this card as a replacement for an interface that was giving errors with this line before). I can do a sh s0/1/0 and that works but I can't see deeper. I found it odd that the serial port just appeared in the config when I booted without having to do anything, if this is correct behavior and how I see the Controller or CSU info for troubleshooting?

I have a 3825 router running 12.4t IOS. I installed DSU/CSU part number HWIC-1DSU-T1 in the router and it does not recognize it. Is this the right card for this router? Is there anything I can look at to determine the issue? I think the router only has 32M RAM. Below is a show hardware. Card is still currently installed.

I have Cisco 871 acting as a VPN server behind another router in the same LAN. The problem is that I can't connect to the VPN from outside network using the public IP but I CAN connect to the VPN from inside the LAN using the internal IP. I've assigned a virtual server on the main router to forward the traffic (port 1723 and 47) to the VPN router but still doesn't work.

I have recently inherited a few networking responsibilities in an SMB network. Nothing overly complicated. Here's my issue, there is an ASA 5505 used for VPN and in the near future a DMZ. I can connect via the console but I'd rather use ASDM. The problem is that I can't get it to connect. VLAN 1 (Inside) has an address of 192.168.200.254. This is in ethernet 0/0. I have a laptop plugged into ethernet 0/4 and the laptop has an address on the same x.x.200 VLAN. I can ping the VLAN1 address, but I can't use http://192.168.200.254/admin to get to ASDM.
how I can do this? What I should check? Can the internal webserver that hosts the ASDM be turned off?

So my question is, if i can connect a vpc-pair to another vpc-pair?In the cisco docs i can find examples for connecting a vpc-pair to a single switch, or server (with and without fex)But there is nothing about how to connect 4 n5k via vPC feature.

we have a new IBM Bladechassie with two Cisco nexus 4001i switches.I have configured one external port on each nexus and connected them to a cisco 6509 with 1G cisco SFP-modules and MM fibre.Both the nexus and 6509 ports are configured as trunk ports, and set speed to 1000.I see light in the SFP-modules on both devices, and through the fibre. When I connect the devices, the link doesn't come up. No light on the ports, the nexus says "link not connected", and the 6509 says "notconnect". I have tried reconfiguring the ports in many ways, even as accessports, nothing seems to work. If I move the SFP and fibre from the 6509 over to a trunk port on a cisco c2960-24TC-L, the link comes up and everything is working fine. why this work on a 2960 and not my 6509 coreswitch? One of the configs I've tried on the 6509:interface GigabitEthernet2/20description *IBM Bladechassie 2 NW1*switchportswitchport trunk encapsulation dot1qswitchport trunk native vlan 34switchport trunk allowed vlan 34switchport mode trunkend
Nexus config (works with 2960):interface Ethernet1/15 switchport mode trunk speed 1000
6509 ios: 12.2(33)SXI3
6509 SFP module: CEF720 24 port 1000mb SFP / WS-X6724-SFP

I'm looking at provisioning a Catalyst 4500 with a WS-X4712-SFP+E module to allow for future 10Gb connectivity via 10Gb SFP+ interfaces. These cards are backwards compatible with standard 1Gb SFP interfaces but I'm wondering about the other way around; ie. can you populate these blades with 10Gb SFP+ interfaces when they connect to Catalysts with only 1Gb SFP interfaces at the other end?
The data sheets don't really explain this. It seems pointless getting 10Gb SFP+ interfaces for the 4500 when it's only 1Gb at the access layer end, but these access switches will be replaced in the near future (~12 months) and if the 10Gb SFP+ interfaces support connections at 1Gb speeds upfront, it would mean I could retain these interfaces when the access switches upgrade to 10Gb connectivity capabilities down the track. Does the 10Gb SFP+ interfaces are compatible with 1Gb SFP's or only other 10Gb SFP+ interfaces?

The load balancing mode they want to configure is mode 6, alb. We have investigated and it is: [code] Receive load balancing is achieved through ARP negotiation.We would like to know if it is supported to be connected to a 3750G an if an special configuration is needed.

With my brand new Cisco 3850 Switch, I got it configured with a LAN IP. Then, on my PC I opened up Cisco Network Assistant (version 5.8.5.1 which supports the 3850). I went to add the 3850 to the community by discovering the device, and was prompted with the user/pass box. The password I set was not allowing me to connect, and I realized it's because a username was required and I had not set up a username on the switch. So, I then configured an admin user with level 15 privileges on the switch. However, now when in CNA I try to add the 3850 to the community, it doesn't even prompt me for user/pass, it just says "unable to connect".
What do I need to do to add this 3850 to my community?

I have a Cisco 2948G switch that I am trying to communicate to through this program. It has both an IP address and is hooked up through a cable. I can get Cisco Network Assistant to come up and ask for it's Username and Password, and that it is where I am stuck! I have no clue as to what to put in there as a username and password? I do have a password setup on the switch to login in to it during terminal mode, but that is it.

3550 together 2960 works well
2960 together 2950 works well
3550 connected with 2950 refuse to establish connection. Port goes down immediately.
Example
3550 Fe0/19+Fe0/20 -> 2960 G0/1+G0/2 status OK
3550 Fe0/21+Fe0/22 -> 2960 G0/1+G0/2 status OK

I am trying to use a SF302-08P switch to connect a conference phone (Cisco 7937) to my infrastructure. I connected the G2 port on the SF302 to a Gig copper port on the Catalyst. I configured both ports as trunked ports and port e1 on the SF302 as an access port for the phone. VLAN 1 is the default VLAN and VLAN 10 for voice. However, the phone does not connect to the Call Manager. I have changed the configurations on the G2 trunked port and the ethernet port (trunked ports, general ports, tagged and untagged). I have also changed the configuration on the Ethernet port (general, access, trunk, set it on the default VLAN, in the voice VLAN, etc.) The SF302 connects to the Catalyst, and PCs connect OK.
