Cisco Switching/Routing :: QOS On 4500E With Sup7-E?
Mar 25, 2012
I was contacted by a customer today who is trying to configure QoS on a 4500E with Sup7-E. They are running:
cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.02.00.SG.150-2.SG.bin
And the 4500 is licensed for enterprise Services. I don't have access to the switch and am looking for configuration documentation and I am not finding the necessary configuration guides.
How to know 4500 SUP7-E's MIB ?Our customer use MS SCOM 2012 SP1 get the OID are 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1286, but we use IOS MIB locator, we can not find this MIB id.
below are the IOS sh version information :
Cisco IOS Software, IOS-XE Software, Catalyst 4500 L3 Switch Software (cat4500e-UNIVERSAL-M), Version 03.02.00.SG RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc4) Technical Support: [URL] Copyright (c) 1986-2011 by Cisco Systems, Inc. Compiled Tue 26-Apr-11 18:09 by prod_rel_team
Just received a couple of new 4500e chassis with the 2800ACV power supplies installed. I have not seen the cables they come with standard, the plug ends are considerably thicker than normal, what is the deal, do we need an electrician to come out and rewire or purcahse new powerboards?
client originally connects to the 4500E, moves to the 2960s and then cannot connect back to the 4500E.My design is a 4500E (configured for routing) and a 2960s. The 2960s is trunked to the 4500E, no vlan pruning.
Tried;
- shut/no shut port on the 4500E doesn't work
- no result for sh ip arp | i (clients mac) or sh mac address | i (clients mac) on the 4500E
The only way I can get the user back online is removing the 2960s, not a desirable solution as other clients are on the 2960s.
How do I enable ports 3 and 4 on this supervisor module? I can only get ports 1 and 2 to work by default. I have a standby Supervisor in SSO mode. I'm running IOS 15.0.2SG
I upgraded IOS-XE on 4500E (SUP7L-E) to cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.03.00.SG.151-1. I encounter the log when i try to issue write mem commad % VRF table-id 0 not activeCompressed configuration from 8947 bytes to 2140 bytes[OK].
When i swapped a Sup v 10 ge for a Sup6 E Tonight in order to take advantage of the netflow capabilites of the Sup V - It came up with module unsupported for the following cards - WS-X4648-RJ45V-E Will these only work with the Sup6 E or what
I will go to buy a core 4506 but I'm comfusing about the Sup engines and the Fiber module. What is the different between the Sup7 and Sup7L?in the fiber module that I will go to buy is it contain the SFP inside or I have to buy the SFP ( WS-X4612-SFP-E ). also what is the different between the SFP and GBIC?
We recently had a contractor deploy a 4500 catalyst switch with a WS-x45-SUP7-E. After installation and configurations, HP openview is detecting a "downed" interface on the 4500 chassis that is not in the configuration. I have attached an image with the interface circled. We assumed that it may be a configuration issue with openview, however after running diagnostics with a network analyzer, the same ip address for the down interface is still detected. Is this some sort of internal virtual interface on the SUP7?
I am working with a Catalyst 4503-E with a Sup7-E. I'm trying to enable Netflow, and I have read the following guides: Catalyst 4500 Series Switch SW Configuration Guide, Release IOS ...
I have also enabled Netflow in IOS 12.1/12.2 and figured the process was similar (It seems to be). CEF is enabled, and I have all the pre-reqs according to the document above, however, the flow commands don't exist, they simply say "command unrecognized". I have included my sh version below.
sh version (edited): Cisco IOS Software, IOS-XE Software, Catalyst 4500 L3 Switch Software (cat4500e-UNIVERSAL-M), Version 03.01.01.SG RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
The DHCP/DNS server is on ip address 10.1.100.103 with an alt on .102 I'm attempting to integrate a 4510R+E into an existing network and use existing DHCP/DNS windows 2008 server to push out IP addresses to connected computers.
I want to assign a VLAN to every port for management purposes and then I put an IP helper address on every VLAN.
I've attached a the 4500E partial config. I'm attempting to get Gi1/44 to a state where I can plug a computer into it an resolve an ip address and gain internet access like all the devices on the existing network can do.
I've created a new scope in DHCP with the ip subnet of 10.60.211.0 255.255.255.0 It leases addresses from .1 to .253
The computer will not resolve ip addresses with this config.
I have cat4500 with subject module. There is strange behaviour over module installed in 3rd slot only, some ports are connected, UP & working fine. But If I am connecting new ports over same module, are not coming UP.Duplex/speed settings already checked & are fine. If i connect same machine to any other module, it perfectly comes up & operation is fine.
I have a problem connecting a PC in a TwinGig Convertors (GLC-LH-SM). I want to connect a PC with a fiber cable on the supervisor WS-X45-SUP6L-E of my Switch 4500E.
The default configuration mode is X2. As I want to deploy Gigabit interfaces (that is, use TwinGig Convertors), then I configured the associated port-group:
Switch(config)#hw-module module 1 port-group 2 select gigabitethernet *Feb 24 06:18:37.125: Port Te1/2: TwinGig Converter inserted: vendor: CISCO Switch(config)#do sh int status mod 1 Port Name Status Vlan Duplex Speed Type
[code]....
I noted that the Swicth set up automatically 'switchport mode trunk', so i put the command 'swicthport mode access' because i want to connect only a PC. But the status is the same, I can not achieve connectivity. i just want to know how connect a PC in the interface GigabitEthernet1/4 of the supervisor engine of my Switch.
We are planning for the first installation of 4500 switches containing these supervisor modules. I'm trying to determine the interface numbering convention for ports on the supervisors. Our existing 4500E all have SUP6 modules with twin-gig converters - so I am familiar with the numbering conventions used on those supervisors. How does this change with the software based selection command "hw-module uplink select" used in SUP7?
Will there be some pause in traffic on formed ether channel interfaces (4500E switch), when i will change the default ether channel load balancing method to src-dst-port (or any other non-default method)?
What's the difference between a Catalyst 4500 and a Catalyst 4500E series chassis? I believe it has to to do with supporting PoE+? Are the blades in both series interchangeable?
In testlab we use pim-sm with bootstrap router on sup7 with IOS-XE 03.04.00.SG. Any possibility to prevent non authorized rp from connecting to the candidate bootstrap routers? We found several security recommendations concerning limiting registering of sources at the rp, rate-limits etc, but no possibility to control rp connecting to the bsr.
We've got a doubt about the uplink ports of this supervisor. I've read that you have to use the four ports in 10G mode or in 1G mode, but not use for example 1 port in 10G mode and 1 port in 1G mode:
But, you can read in another sentence: " Beginning with Cisco IOS Release 12.2(25)SG, you could simultaneously deploy the dual 10-Gigabit.Ethernet ports and the four Gigabit Ethernet SFP ports on the Catalyst 4503, Catalyst 4506, and Catalyst 4507R chassis." Is it posible deploy simultaneously both type of ports?
I'm trying to configure LLDP-MED between a Cat45010+E Sup7 (IOS 15.1) and Polycom CX600 Lync phones. I have created and applied the correct network policy for the interfaces.
From these sites, I need to send all the correct TLVs or the phones won't respond: {URL}.
When a scour the config of the switch, I can't find any related configuration commands relating to the specific LLDP-MED TLV components which are enabled/disabled. Where are they hiding? I would like to confirm which TLVs are being sent by my switch and if they are matched to the phone. I can always use the DHCP method, put this is not preferred.
To have a management tool polling by SNMP some information like CPU load and memory load, I tried to find out the OID.The supervisory card is a WS-X45-SUP7-E with a dual core CPU and 2G of memory.IOS is IOS-XE 3.2.2
Does any OID or nagios template already for the new card ? The Nagios template I use for others switches do not get the good field
i want to activate flexible netflow on my WS-X45-SUP7-E with IOS cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.02.00.SG.150-2.SG. I've started with a simple configuration like this:
Configuring a Flow Monitor for IPv4/IPv6 Traffic Using the Flexible NetFlow
“NetFlow IPv4 Original Input” Predefined Record SUMMARY STEPS
I am buying a Nexus 5K (N5K-C5548UP-FA) with the layer 3 card (N55-D160L3 - Nexus 5548 Layer 3 - Daughter Card). The switching capacity of it is 960 Gbps but I know I should expect less doing the Layer 3 function (it will only be used with static routing). What switching/routing capacity should I expect? How can I estimate it? What else should I consider?
we've had an issue with our network, we have 2 6509 connected with redundancy, which are connected with 2 x 4900 Switches, from which are connected to a ESX Chassis for visualization, the thing is that the ESX stopped working, and the 4900 switches, and the main core were suffering from overload, they hang on it very well, in order to stop the overload, one of the links to the ESX Chassis were disconnected from one of the 4900 switches. The CPU usage from the 4900 and the core(6509) went down below 40%, and then they started to migrate the virtual servers from the chassis to another 2 chassis that were added right after. They were actually working well, but suddenly the 6509 changed to the other supervisor after everything was OK. We were wondering what could have been the cause of this, maybe the virtual servers migrations, maybe the overload from the ESX ? We also had a few question, is there any need to reload the cores every few months as a planned task ? Because the cores have been up for more than 1 year. And also is there any kind of of tool to monitor the CPU status, or the status overall from the cores or the switches ?
I am facing an isssues with 7609 for LAN switching , based on LAN (VRRP/HSRP) feature.Actually we are having ES+ cards (on 7609) and we are using multiple groups(say 350 vrrp groups) running on the router . the routers are connected as router 1>>> mux(which is working as switches)>>> router2
my questing are
1. does their will be "multicast packets" (for VRRP/HSRP group) "from backup router to Master router", when in stable state( ie when Master and backup are already chosen) , or the packet from backup to master should be unicast.I know for sure, the packet from master to back is multicast packets denstination to Multicast IP packet and To MAC address.I am not sure but I think from backup to master it should be multicast
2. what is frequency of these packets( from backup to master)
3. As i have multiper group on a single interface ( we are using q-in-q), when the connectivity from router's is broken, then does all the groups will muticast their active roll in the lan sengment "at once" or it will be in a groups say 100 groups at once, and after few ms few 100's and sone ( as is on OSPF or RIP)
we are in between troubleshooting I hope we get the ans( Actul problem we are seeing in the router's that we have 2 ports on active routers and 2 ports on standby router , but we are not seeing muticast on 1 port on standby router where as all other 3 ports are seeing multicast packets) [code]
I would like to know if Catalyst WS-C3750G-48TS-E recognizes and understand Cisco VSS ( Virtual Switching System) . Is there a List available which tells us which Old Catalyst Switches or current switches understand Cisco VSS?
We are in the process of switching our infrastructure of our routing/firewalls/vpns over to cisco. We are switching our first location and one of the issues I'm struggling with is windows authentication pass-through for internally hosted web pages. Meaning, user inside our network has the 2921 as their default gateway, they try to access a web page that is hosted on the internal network but is secured with windows authentication. In the past, because they are logged into the domain internally, the website authenticates and loads. After switching to the Cisco, it asks for a password even though they are logged in.
Because its the web server that actually authenticates I'm not sure why the router isn't allowing that to happen, but I can't think of anything else that could be causing this behavior.
Does the nexus 7010 support virtual switching yet? All of the posts I have found from about a year ago say that it is going to be supported, but there were no dates listed. I heard the same thing from Cisco a while back, but haven't followed up with it.If it is supported finally are there any configuration guides available for it?
