Dec 3, 2011we purchase only Cisco Supervisor Engine VS-S720-10G and use it in our old C6509-E chassis.Now the supervisor engine was dead,(means not working and no LED's are ON). How can i claim the RMA from cisco?
We purchase from one of our partner. We send it to them,they are not able to find the Serial number from the Supervisor Engine module (Because lot of serial numbers are on the board). Also the customer through the catoon.
Now how we can know which is exact serial number of sup? How to get RMA from the Cisco on which serial number?

Apr 18, 2013I am upgrading a Cisco 6506E VSS from 12.2(33)SXI5 to 12.2(33)SXJ5 during a maintenance window. So I have plenty of time to reboot the VSS. Confirm below is the correct procedure. I have manually copied the new IOS to both active and standby Sup720s.

Apr 7, 2012i just wanna know if it's possible to perform a router password recovery using the reload command and then issue the break sequence instead of doing an off/on on the power switch. i often find in the docs to use the latter.also, is there a way to retain the startup-config on a router when we re-enable the password recovery functionality (no service password-recovery). i've just tried this on one of our 877 and when i hit the break sequence, it went back to factory default setting.

Oct 28, 2011I have cisco catalyst 2960S switch. In this switch I have created the vlan 10 with member ports Gig 1/0/1, Gig 1/0/2 and Gig 1/0/3. What I want to configure is as follows.
- If any one of the port of this vlan 10 is turned down, then I want to shutdown entire van
- If Gi1/0/1 is turned down, then I want to shut down Gi1/0/2.

Jun 14, 2012I'm seeing a problem with Apple IOS devices connecting from one SSID and then connecting immediately to another. I've tried to replicate this fault with non Apple IOS devices, but I'm unable.
Environment:
Single 5508 WLC running 7.2.110.0 AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9 AP's
WLC is in clients head office, MPLS to their branch sites. AP's are in Flex Connect mode, with AP and Flex Connect groups for the AP's at the branch. 3 x SSIDs; Corporate (802.1X), Guest (Web-Auth) & Non-Corp (PSK).
Scenario:
Client is connected to the Corporate SSID with his iPad (new model, running iOS 5.1.1). No problem with access, he is able to roam throughout the building with good SNR/RSSI. He wants to test the other SSID's, he attempts to connect directly to the Guest or Non-Corp and gets an error message on the client saying 'Unable to Connect' or 'Unable to Join'. Debugs on the WLC for the client shows no connection attempt, no errors. I can see the client disconnect from the Corporate SSID, but nothing for the Guest or Non-Corp SSID.
If the client then disconnects and forgets the Corporate SSID from the wireless profiles on their i Pad, waits 20-30 seconds (I can see the client disconnect cleanly from the WLC) and then attempts to connect to the Guest or Non-Corp SSID's - he doesn't have a problem. He immediately associates, and is able to connect. If he then tries to connect directly to another SSID, while still associated to another from the same WLC/AP – he gets the error again. Forget/wait 20-30 seconds, attempt to connect – no problem. We've tested with several i Phones (4 & 4S), i Pads (2 & new model) - all running the same Apple IOS (5.1.1).
I unfortunately can't do much troubleshooting with TAC on this as the client is no longer onsite, and I don't have a 5508 in our lab that I can currently test with. I've tried playing with beacon intervals, etc to no avail.

Am I allowed to update all of them? Or only the four devices which have the service contract?

Recently I added 3 more cabinets to the mix, for a total of 12 cabinets with 2 switches each.
I can get into the new switches and see the FEX's and configure ports, etc. but no device I attach to the 'new' N2K's is pingable over the network. I can take the same device, same cable, and attach it to a legacy N2K talking to the same N5K's, and it immediately joins and is pingable over the network

Jun 21, 2012I'm getting currently installing a full Valcom IP sound and clock system , along with all new Cisco 2960 gig ps-l switches. All devices run off of POE. In the past, I have read that most AP's only draw approx. 12.5 watts (va's). But you must take into account length of wire to add your additional draw which puts you at the 14.5 they auto draw. My question being that the clocks I have auto draw 15.4 watts, which is eating up my 370w of power on my switches. The spec sheet on the clocks show only a power consumption of 4.5 watts. So today I turned a few ports down to 4.5 watts and everything still worked fine.. Any experience by chance with Valcom devices or just turning the power down on devices in general? I can imagine that a clock is drawing enough to care about the length of the wire run.

Where the AP that is not working is connected to Gi1/0/4. The interface shows down/down. I've tried shutting the interface, removing power, cdp etc.
Are there any other tricks you can think of to get it working or would you say that it's 2 faulty APs? I am not based at site unfortunately so I cannot console to the APs and check them out.

Feb 12, 2011I have been testing WiFi devices such as the iPhones and iPads connectivity with the following setup:
1. 3502i AP
2. WLC 5508 SW 7.0.98
3. NGS
The i-devices have iOS v4.2
My goal is to have the guest user i-devices maintain the credentials (username and password) when they login again to the wireless network. Like if the device sleep, I think definitely they would loose those IP address issued by the DHCP. Once the guest user uses them again and connect them to the wireless network the user would not need to type-in those credentials on the Web Authentication page directed by the WLC.
The credentials are issued by the sponsor who created them on the NGS. It seems that there are WiFi problems with these i-devices. But somehow, I'm looking for a solution that would automated the logins like a checkbox if you want to be kept signed in, on Yahoo or Stay signed in for GMail.

We have enable all respective node in policy service for profiling and also configure snmp in wlc as well as in ise.
When guest user is connected to open ssid its get redirected to web login page of ise portal and when it gets login we are only able to see the username which guest user login but not the end device in monitoring log.
Wireless End devices are not able to get profiled can any one tell me what configuration I need to do on ise or wlc side to profiled end guest wireless device like android,iphone and laptops

Jan 3, 2012I just upgraded to the e4200 v2 and I seem to be having connection issues with my android phone and tablet. Both are 802.11n compatable but they seem to have issues staying connected. Just so everyone is up to speed, there are two connections made by android, a general one to the internet, and a second one to the google servers (for syncing e-mail and contacts and the like) When just connected to the internet, the wireless icons are gray, when connected to the google servers as well, the icons turn blue. It's the drop in connection to the google servers that I'm having an issue with. I currently have the router set in full auto for channel and frequency band, but I've also tried setting specific ones thinking maybe the change in channel or something was causing the disconnect. The disconnect will even happen when I'm sitting right next to the router. The phone is a Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Verizon LTE) running Android 4.0.3 and a Asus Transformer tablet (Wifi only) running android 3.2.1.

Test ping and the network to core sw is intermittent problem. When ping 100 times only 30 reply. After 10 minutes the connection restored. Ping 100 times successful. It will not having problem again until the next day. This already happen 3 days. Any command for me to use to check if port or the switch having problem? Any log i can collect

Jan 30, 2013I have a Cisco 887M router which I wish to restrict the devices allowed to be connected/allocated an IP address to two, and *only* two.
I can't, for the life of me, find out how to allow these two devices to connect to ANY port - I can configure a MAC restriction on a single port, but I don't know how to make it so that I can allow JUST these two devices to connect to any port in the 4 port switch/VLAN (VLAN 1 is used because the mongrel who set this up was lazy). I know the MAC addresses I want to allow
How I can do this? I *can* restrict any given port to the two MAC addresses - but if I try to add the MAC addresses to another port, they get removed from the initial one. I need to be able to have them connect to ANY port and work, but allow NOTHING else to work.
For those wondering, this is to counter a user who is utilising company resources for purposes not approved - and costing us quite a bit of money in the process.
