Cisco Switching/Routing :: WS-X6724-SFP / How To Find Out SFP Vendor
Feb 3, 2013
We have a 7609 in production network and I am trying to find out the SFP vendor plugged in module WS-X6724-SFP."show inventory raw" gives me the SN but not the vendor name. "show hw-module subslot 1/1" shows The indicated slot/subslot number is empty. Any commands which can show the SFP vendor?
When quoting a WS-X6724-SFP line card for a Catalyst 6500:
1. If no Distributed Forwarding Card 3 (DFC3) is selected, can it be purchased at a later time as a spare part or the client needs to buy the line card with the DFC3 included from start?
2. Does each line card require a DFC3 in order to be able to perform localized forwarding decisions?
3. Does the DFC3 card is embedded in the line card physically?
I have cisco3750 (core), 3550,3548, 2960, HP Procurve 2510 series, Extreme e250 series swiches running in my network. Now all are running by default. How can I deploy rstp here? Or which is the best loopdetection protocol is best here ? I have aroung 40 vlans . (not looking for PVST )
I tried many different things to get the accurate answer for my issue. I wanted to know, will i face any connectivity or looping issue in the network if i connect Broacade SAN switch on a cisco 6500 switch. Also need to know to maintain a DATA DOMAIN which SAN switch is better? Cisco or other vendor.
I have arequirement where in I need to allow only specific vendor made desktops/laptops to be connected to the switch and block the rest. Say I want only the HP made Laptops to be connected on the Network. and block all other vendors. such as dell, ibm etc.
I am having Catalyst 4500 switches in My network. i tried using the mac access list using the permit and deny statement and then mapping the access list to the vlan access map and then filter using the vlan id. But this doesnt work on cat 4500....the same I tested for 2950 switch and it works perfectly. are there any restrictions on 4500 or any extra configuration has to be done.
Our ASA is a 5580 version 8.1(2) and is the L2L VPN peer for a handful of remote offices including a L2L VPN with a vendor who will provide a service for these remote offices. I have two questions/issues:We will need to provide this vendor access to the remote office network(s) only on port 9100 (printing to specific printers at these offices). I know there is an issue with L2L VPNs ability to see each other but if there is a global command allowing all to see each other that would be bad as we have others and don’t want all to see each other. The remote offices are using CIDR 172.20.0.0/16 so each one is assigned for example 172.20.3 the next office is 172.20.4 and so on. For the crypto map access list for this vendor can we use 172.20.0.0/16 or do we need to specify each individual network?
Is there a way I can find out the amount of bandwidth i'm using on a particular interface on a 4507 cisco multi-layer switch? It is a gig port and I have it setup for monitoring (spanning) and I see packets being dropped in the "Total Output Drops" area. To me it looks like it must be exceeding the 1gig limit but I don't know a way to check to make sure. I also have the queueing strategy set to FIFO.
I have a 4503-E on my work bench. It's been out of production for a year or so. I started working on it last week. I think I may have cause a boot up problem. It comes up to ROMMON, but then I need to type "boot" to get it to come up all the way.
config-register = 0x2102Autobooting using BOOT variable specified file.....
Could not find a valid file in BOOT environment variable.BOOT variable can be set from IOS. To find currently setRom Monitor variables, please type 'set' command.
For choosing a boot method, type 'confreg' command. rommon 1 > For choosing a boot method, type 'confreg' command.rommon 1 >
At this point I type "boot" and it proceeds to the normal bootup. (Below are a couple more print outs)
RG-4503#RG-4503#dir /allDirectory of bootflash:/ 1 -rwx 12185732 Feb 21 2008 08:23:59 -06:00 [cat4500-ipbase-mz.122-31.SGA3.bin] 2 -rwx 14787732 May 21 2008 01:00:30 -06:00 cat4500-ipbasek9-mz.122-44.SG.bin 3 -rw- 7315 Dec 31 2012 07:13:15 -06:00 *** 61341696 bytes total (34360532 bytes free)RG-4503#RG-4503#RG-4503#show run | include bootboot-start-markerboot-end-markerRG-4503#
It looks like there is nothing between boot-start and boot-end.
I'm not able to find power redundancy mode when i do show power on my Cisco 4510R+R with SUP7E.
[code]...
When i do show power on my Cisco 65000 the first line shows the power redundancy mode, I have all other show power related command but couldn't find redundancy mode
Just finishing up a small install of a 5508 controller and WCS.Approx 30 AP's across 2 buildings.2 WLANS - 1 prod wpa2 and 1 guest which is completely open to internet only. Our security group is asking if there is a way to determine who is accessing the Prod WLAN. Currently it is setup to work with eap and the users AD account which is working well.I noticed under the client tab in WCS that there is a Vendor name and it shows me intel and even RIM when someone with their Blackberry is connected. BUT when we connect via an IPAD it show "unknown" as vendor name. Is there a way to get the IPAD to register under the vendor name ?
We are doing a study on our public WiFi to identfy client connections based on wireless Vendor. about 40-50% of the clients wireless Vendors are "unknown". Is there a way to update the list of Vendor mac-addresses in WCS?
I am trying to give a vendor VPN access so that they can remotely monitor and diagnose their installed heating and cooling equipment. I dont know where to start and I apologize in advance for my ignorance. I am technically savvy but i have no Cisco knowledge base.
How do I find interface to which an ifentry is associated with in Cisco IOS Catalyst switches ?
#sh snmp mib ifmib ifindex does not seem to work
As per information from the Cisco document , the command was introduced in IOS version 12.2(T) and higher [URL] The IOS version the switch I am working on is 12.0(5) The relavant info from #sh ver is as given
Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software IOS (tm) C3500XL Software (C3500XL-C3H2S-M), Version 12.0(5)WC17, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1) Copyright (c) 1986-2007 by cisco Systems, Inc. Compiled Tue 13-Feb-07 15:04 by antonino
Is there any way I can find that in an IOS prior to 12.2(T) ?
We have a L2L VPN with a vendor and our outbound traffic (our local network is 192.168.0.0) NATs over one of our public IP addresses x.x.x.164 to their public IP address 128.x.x.x. In the beginning all our traffic was outbound (port 23) to the vendor and now we need to allow inbound from the vendor to specific 192.168 addresses on our network using port 9100. I’m uncertain as to what I should do to allow their inbound traffic to these IP addresses since we are NATing our entire network over one IP address. Note, the .164 public IP is also used to NAT to other vendors we have L2L VPN with. The VPN terminates to our ASA 5580 version 8.2.
I'm using Cisco ACS 3.3 for RADIUS. How to do I make Vendor-Specific attribute available? (Attribute number 26, format: OctetString) The online help makes reference to it, but does not tell you how to make it available.
I'm developing a project where I use the SNMP protocol to discover the network. By discovering the network I mean go through all the routers and switches and retrieve the IP routing table from routers and the forwarding table from switches. With the routers I have no problem. For the switches I need to know for each port the MAC addresses and the Vlans. Basically it's use SNMP to find a port number from a MAC address. To do that i followed this tutorial: [URL]
The problem is that I'm using a Cisco 3725 Router with IOS 12.4 (21) and a NM-16ESW module to work as a Switch and when I use the OID .1.3.6.1.2.1.17 corresponding to the BRIDGE-MIB as it follows:
From this I guess there's no information on the router about Vlans or anything. Other thing is that when I use community string indexing it returns a timeout. My theory is that this version doesn't support indexing but I don't know.
how can I get the Port Number from a MAC address from this "switch" (it's a router working as a switch) using SNMP?

When the above problem happens, as work-around, we delete VLAN.DAT file on the Compact Flash of this 2811 router and recopy the VLAN>DAT file back to teh Compact Flash.
Then it runs for a few weeks and the same problem happened.
Then we put a new Compact Flash and recopied VLAN.DAT to new CF and it ran for 3 weeks and same problem started again.
Could be 2811 router motherboard? This customer has thousands of these 2811 routers in identical setups and this is the only router that is having this problem.
I’m trying to configure EAP-Fast following the guide [URL].But when I try to download the certificate, I receive the follow message: “Error installing certificate.”At logs I see:
I have a 5505 between a vendor router & my company network, vendor is not able to access devices on internal network. I am also not able to access the firewall via asdm
I will be connecting 9/5 and 9/6 to Cisco 3120G (HP rebadged) Blade Switch in c-Class Enclosure tomorrow. It would be nice to have a rough sample configuration of the above 3120G switch.
I'm working on a CCTV DVR which has network viewing function. The front controls on the DVR won't work at all so i am unable to access any menus or burn off the footage i need. I was hoping to connect to the unit via the network viewer software or web browser but i have no idea what the ip address is. Is there any way of finding out the ip address of the unit if i connect a pc to it via a cross over cable or through a switch or am i stuck because i dont know the ip range it is in?
this might sound straight forward, but every other pc or console can find and connect to my router. This issue seems to happen about once every few months, sometimes it comes back by itself and reconnects completely fine.
There isn't a "user limit" on our router.Wireless adapter is dell wireless 1505 draft 802.11n wlan mini-card.
Have restarted PC and uninstalled and reinstalled the card.I tried to set the i.p address to static but it says "adapter disconnected" so won't allow me to edit any settings, despite it being able to find neighbour's wireless very easily.
I own a Nanostation5 Loco, and I have a router behind it.I would like to add a DHCP Lease to that router and do a port forward to the router.I can not find the DHCP Lease option in Nanostation settings, but if I choose to see DHCP Leases in "Extra info" on main page I can see some MAC and IP addresses there. When it comes to port forwarding, I fill the form slots with info, and when I press OK to save it a pop-up comes saying "Please fill out this field", a field for another forward rule.
I am buying a Nexus 5K (N5K-C5548UP-FA) with the layer 3 card (N55-D160L3 - Nexus 5548 Layer 3 - Daughter Card). The switching capacity of it is 960 Gbps but I know I should expect less doing the Layer 3 function (it will only be used with static routing). What switching/routing capacity should I expect? How can I estimate it? What else should I consider?
