Cisco Switching/Routing :: WS-X6748-GE-TX Change Module Cause Some Ports Of Server Offline
Dec 1, 2012
I have a server with 4 ethernet ports, 1G, they are bonded together, two of them was pluged into cat6500 module WS-X6724-TX. now we have moved the two ports to the replace module WS-X6748-GE-TX.
I have checked server side, the bond configuration are same no changed. what is possible reason replace module will cause link offline? why "sh run all" give the port is shutdown?
its a hardware problem or just not get power to module 1 for module WS-X6748-GE-TX? this is the capture from show module and sh log :
------------------ show module ------------------

I have a cisco 6509 switch in which i have 2 SUPs. I am using 3 Qty. of WS-X6748-GE-TX in the same switch. First 24 ports of module 1 and are not working. I replace the faulty moldule with the working one but now the new (good) module's first 12 ports stopped working. But when I insert the good card (the replaced one with the faulty) in other chassis it works fine.
How do I enable ports 3 and 4 on this supervisor module? I can only get ports 1 and 2 to work by default. I have a standby Supervisor in SSO mode. I'm running IOS 15.0.2SG
I have a Cisco 6513 switches connected to HP VC Flex 10 Module. The (2) 10Gb ports on a Cisco Switch connected to VC Flex-10 in LACP mode.
I need to move those (2) 10Gb ports on Cisco Switch 10Gb Module to a different 10Gb module on a same Switch without bringing the ports down since it is a live environment.
What I would do is to configure a same port channel ID on a new 10Gb module and then move port one by one. unplug one port and connect to the new port on a module. While I will be unplugging the first port the other active port will keep sending traffic and as soon as I plug in on another port, both ports will be active.
i have 4507R with dual supervisors (WS-X4013+10GE) with IOS cat4500-ipbasek9-mz.122-46.SG.bin the supervisor module are in 3 and 4, and I want to connection port 5, but i have interface and line protocol down "inactive" error.
So I realized to use command "hw-module" to change the module to GE port. However, I am not able to use the command as" I cannot use the command "hw-module uplink" as well.
Can you configure a Cisco 1941 to use an 8 port EHWic module and the 2 onboard GE ports in a single LAN?
I've discovered you can't have the on GE ports associated with a VLan, and I'm when I've previously researched for a solution, bridging was mentioned but I cannot seem to get it to work (or completely understand it)The reason I would like to use all 10 ports on for the LAN is becuase I have 10 devices I need to connect to the 1941?
how can I change the telnet port and ssh port for a different ones?? for example I´d like to change de default telnet port (23) for a 3333 it is possible??
I have a WS-X6748-GE-TX with the WS-F6700-CFC daughter card. Is it possible to replace the WS-F6700-CFC daughter card with a WS-F6K-DFC4-AXL to make this compatible with the SUP-2T? Or, are there differences between the CFC and DFC base modules?
We are upgrading two standalone 6509E chassis to a VSS system with new VS-S720-10G-3C cards. The 6509's have WS-X6748-GE-TX card with DFC3B daughter cards (see below). The compatablity matrix (see below) states that 67xx cards are supported but it goes on to state DFC3C or DFC3CXL cards are needed. So does this mean that the existing WS-X6748-GE-TX cards have to be upgraded or will they be supported?

We got a requirement for 2 number of X2-10GB-SR line card WS-X45-SUP6-E in WS-C4506-E.Customer want to connect with Fujitsu primary server . they have 10 gig module so i guess it will support with that. Also a doubt this X2-10GB-SR we can directly connect the firber sc multimode cable write no additional sfp required write .And for my knowledge if i use CVR-X2-SFP. I think to multimode sfp we have to insert write so do we get to 10 gig ports in one slot or how is it .
Recently I have faced following problem in my office, We have purchased two new Dell Server Power Edge R910 with built-in 10GB FC Network card. Service tag of this two servers are given bellow. 1. 7D94C2S 2. 6D94C2S You can can Check specification of this two server from dell website{ URL}
We have two CISCO switch and model is given bellow: Brand: CISCO Model: WS-C3560E-12SD
We want to connect server to switch through FC cable and both switch have SPF module. But when we connect server to switch, link do not establish even switch and server port light become off. Then we have tested the following things: 1. Connect server to server through FC cable, it is okay. 2. Connect switch to switch through same FC cable, it is okay.
I urgently want to replace a faulty line card WS-X6748-SFP with a new one. The switch concern is a 5609-V-E operating in Virtual Switching System mode. How long do you suggest the down time will be?
currenly running a C6509E, with a WS-SUP720-3B running IOS level S72033-adventerprisek9_wan-MZ.122-22.SXH3. I want to install a WS-X6748-GE-TX blade and would like NOT to have to upgrade IOS at this time. Future migrations are planned. Can this be done?
we have 2 WS-X6516-GE-TX, WS-X6516A-GBIC, and a WS-X6748-GE-TX with a WS-F6700-CFC daughtercard
our sup is a WS-SUP720-3B
we are experiencing packet loss for everything connected in the WS-X6748-GE-TX blade, right now we dont have any production device in that blade due to the packet loss we are experiencing.
this switch was running hybrid before it is now running native ios, however I can't recall if we didn't have that packet loss before. do i need to update a firmware of the card or daughtercard (if this is possible, can't say i've done it before).
I have one Cisco 7606 and i need to install a WS-X6748-GE-TX with WS-F6700-DFC3CXL.When I install the WS-X6748-GE-TX the module is powered off with the following warning:

I've installed second WS-X6748-SFP linecard on my catalyst 6509 with sup720-3b and after that NAM-2 and IDSM-2 module become inaccessible from management network. I can only login with session slot N proc 1.When I execute #hw-module module 4 reset, modules become accessible.
#sh module from cat6509

I am setting up a new environment with 2 5548's and some 2248TP-1GE Fex's and Im running into an issue. I have the peer link and peer-keepalive link that appear to be good. When I configure the fex and vpc for the fex manually on each switch without pre-provisioning the slot the fex comes online and everything appears to be good. I can see all the ineterfaces when doing a sh int br and the sh fex detail shows all good. When I do the exact same thing but pre-provision the slot the fex stays in an offline state. Ive tried disabling the port(s) connected to the fex while configuring everything then enabling them but same thing. [code]
we have a chassis 6513-E and a module WS-X6748-GE-TX, I'd like to know if could I put this module in any slot, since the documentation from Cisco says that any slot from a chassis 6500-E Series can support this module. And then in the documentation of WS-X6748-GE-TX says that this module is not compatible in the slots 1-8 of the 6513 chassis, only from 9th to 13th slots, in those slots from the 6513-E we already have 4x WS-X6748-GE-TX, and we'd like to know if could we put the module in the rest of the slots. The 6513, and 6513-E is kind of confusing.
I have a network that has a pair of 6500 switches on either end, running HSRP. In between each 6500 are two to three ruggedcom switches. They are connected to each other and the 6500's by trunk ports in a straight line. The 6500's see each other as CDP neighbors, and the 6500's can see the rugged- com as LLDP neighbors (ruggedcom only supports LLDP).
The issue is that randomly devices on the ruggedcoms will drop offline and then come back. The problem is that the devices that drop offline are all in the same VLAN, so it appears like a virus - i.e. one device drops off, then multiple. Eventually the HSRP starts flapping between the two 6500s and this causes havoc on the network.I'm almost to the point of taking a laptop and plugging it into one of the ruggedcom's to see traffic, but the issue is that the ruggedcoms are outside in cabinets that laptops shouldnt be exposed to.
Domain support with these operating systems seems to be hit and miss.I have 11 computers connected to a domain and I was wondering what the best way to back up the files on the workstations to the server would be. The server has a mirrored raid array and online backup as well. Just checking to see what the best way to do this would be. I am having trouble with the offline files sync / online files sync with these operating systems.
i have a cisco router (3900 series) and a add on module (4 x 1 Gig port module). For some reason i cant seem to port channel them and cant do routing (can set an ip address on those ports). I can do port channel and routing on on-board ports. Do i have to enable any commands to do this ?
Was wondering if anyone has ever hot ADDED, not swapped, an expansion module in a 5548up. Is a switch reboot required?I looked at the H/W install guide and it does not mention anything.
My C6506 USING ws-sup720-3B, i upgrade the IOS to the latest release of 12.2(33) SXJ1 IOS version. After upgrade and reload the machine got one module cannot be detect..WS-X6416-GE-MT, 16 port 1000mb MTRK ethernet module. The version of this are:
-HW 1.0 -FW 5.3 (1)1 -SW 8.5 (0.46) RFW
Question 1: Any tools available on cisco to check out the hardware/software compabiity feature?
Question 2: Any release note, compability matrix table etc resources.
Recently we ha a Nexus 7010 with a module frozen that was OIR (Online Remote and Insert) but do not work until reload the Nexus 7k.The command "show tech-support" has the following:
Can the encryption module (DES/ 3DES/AES/SSL VPN Encrytion/compression) for Cisco Router 3845 able to support the external connection from other high end router, for example cisco 7200? What is the maximum bandwidth, load and concurrent connection it can support?
why is not possible to put a WS-X4712-SFP+E - module into an R-E chassis? The module has the same connection to backplane as the WS-X4748-UPOE+E and this one works in a R-E chassis.I know the restriction of Cisco that the 4712 is only supported in 4503-E, 4506-E,4507+E and 4510+E, but why?Are there hardware-restrictions, is the backplane different?
I have a pair of 6509-E Switches running VS-720 Supervisors. We are planning to add Ace Module onto the 6509-E. Will IP Base Image suffice the requirement? Will Ace Module work with only IP Base Image?
