I have a WS-X6748-GE-TX with the WS-F6700-CFC daughter card. Is it possible to replace the WS-F6700-CFC daughter card with a WS-F6K-DFC4-AXL to make this compatible with the SUP-2T? Or, are there differences between the CFC and DFC base modules?
View 11 RepliesWe are upgrading two standalone 6509E chassis to a VSS system with new VS-S720-10G-3C cards. The 6509's have WS-X6748-GE-TX card with DFC3B daughter cards (see below). The compatablity matrix (see below) states that 67xx cards are supported but it goes on to state DFC3C or DFC3CXL cards are needed. So does this mean that the existing WS-X6748-GE-TX cards have to be upgraded or will they be supported?

we have a chassis 6513-E and a module WS-X6748-GE-TX, I'd like to know if could I put this module in any slot, since the documentation from Cisco says that any slot from a chassis 6500-E Series can support this module. And then in the documentation of WS-X6748-GE-TX says that this module is not compatible in the slots 1-8 of the 6513 chassis, only from 9th to 13th slots, in those slots from the 6513-E we already have 4x WS-X6748-GE-TX, and we'd like to know if could we put the module in the rest of the slots. The 6513, and 6513-E is kind of confusing.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a cisco 6509 switch in which i have 2 SUPs. I am using 3 Qty. of WS-X6748-GE-TX in the same switch. First 24 ports of module 1 and are not working. I replace the faulty moldule with the working one but now the new (good) module's first 12 ports stopped working. But when I insert the good card (the replaced one with the faulty) in other chassis it works fine.

we are experiencing packet loss for everything connected in the WS-X6748-GE-TX blade, right now we dont have any production device in that blade due to the packet loss we are experiencing.
this switch was running hybrid before it is now running native ios, however I can't recall if we didn't have that packet loss before. do i need to update a firmware of the card or daughtercard (if this is possible, can't say i've done it before).
I have one Cisco 7606 and i need to install a WS-X6748-GE-TX with WS-F6700-DFC3CXL.When I install the WS-X6748-GE-TX the module is powered off with the following warning:

I've installed second WS-X6748-SFP linecard on my catalyst 6509 with sup720-3b and after that NAM-2 and IDSM-2 module become inaccessible from management network. I can only login with session slot N proc 1.When I execute #hw-module module 4 reset, modules become accessible.

I have a server with 4 ethernet ports, 1G, they are bonded together, two of them was pluged into cat6500 module WS-X6724-TX. now we have moved the two ports to the replace module WS-X6748-GE-TX.
I have checked server side, the bond configuration are same no changed. what is possible reason replace module will cause link offline? why "sh run all" give the port is shutdown?
Are 887VAM-W-E-K9 and 800-IL-PM2 compatible? We have got both of them but it seems that router has a 30W power source and module has a 80W power source.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have connected a single F5 box with dual links to 2 different Cisco Catalyst switches using 802.1Q trunks. F5 is configured with RSTP mode and on Cisco Switch RPVST+ is configured.STP root bridge is hardcoded on the Cisco side. Loop Guard is globally enabled.On F5 STP link type is Auto, STP Edge port is disabled since that port is connected to the cisco switch.When we are failing over the F5 primary link to the secondary link we see 'Loop Inconsistent' on the cisco switch and things dont work after the failover.We have tried configuring the F5 as STP passthrough but that doesn't fix out the issue.I have checked out the forums and found out following recommendations
1. Configuring MSTP bw F5 and Cisco for better compatibility (Not possible from Cisco side because of a major change in large production setup)
2. Configuring VSS in Cisco switches (not possible due to hardware limitation)
3. Connecting F5 using single links to each switch (redundancy compromised)
I am wondering that on which default vlan does the F5 STP instance0 sends the STP BPDUs ? the term used on Cisco side is native vlan and others use PVIDs; that F5 default vlan should match the native vlan on cisco trunk side.
we have to upgrade to nxos 5.2(4) but i cannot find same image for epld , i only see a downlable image with version 5.2(3). Do you see any problem if we upgrade kick and system image to 5.2(4) with epld 5.2(3)?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've inherited a network. It looks to have been setup as 10/100 originally, using Netgear FSM726S switches with fibre connecting the switches. The fibre to copper conversion is mainly achieved with 10/100 media convertors rather than GBICs - not sure why - though there are some GBICs in use. Some of the "key" switches have been upgraded to Cisco Catalyst 2960G switches, but nothing else has been touched, so most of the network still runs at 100MB.

The reason is because a consultant was hired on to "design" the network layout and has decided to purchase Cisco SFP+ Copper Twinax Cables which have a 10M limit. A small handful of the Data Center racks are 10-15M away... just out of reach of the Twinax. I would prefer NOT to move the LAN row so that it is more centered in the room. Can I use the SFP-10G-SR to connect the 2 switches (5596 & 2248) together? This SFP has a 26M reach on standard 10gig fiber, the small cost increase per connection is of no concern.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 3560 connected via fiber to a Nortel 1612G. The connection is up/up, the V LAN's on the switch work as needed, but I can not ping the switch from the Nortel, and as a result I can not remote into the Cisco for management. I see in the configuration for the trunk that it is configured for a native v LAN, but I don't see it defined which v LAN's are allowed, could this be the issue? I will provide some of the config information for the Cisco side, I understand the issue may be on the Nortel end but if the Cisco part looks OK?

can I plug power supply from 4500 to 6500? more specifically we have power supply PWR-C45-1300ACV. And we need to place some power supply to 6500, which has only one active module. So 1300 should be enough for it. But we dont know if they are physically compatible, if it is possible to plug. I didnt find this power supply to be officially?
