View 3 RepliesI had a bad power surge yesterday that took out a 2960g switch and the APC UPS that it was connected too. when plugged in the fan comes on and the syst light stays amber and the rps, stat, duplex. and speed light stay lit and the port lights for ports 21-24 stay lit. plugging it into the console on boot I cant even see rommon, so i dont think its even booting. I would like to find a pinout and voltage guide for the connector comming off the power supply so I can check the voltages coming off the power supply to tell if it is a bad PSU or if it took out the main board.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of staging a couple of two new Cisco ASR 1004's which are located at two locations with a WAN link in between. I need to set up connectivity between servers plugged directly into each ASR router across the WAN link. The ASR has 16 gig interfaces (gi0/0/0 - gi0/0/7 and gi0/1/0 - gi 0/1/7), and a management interface (gi0). I have connected the WAN link to gi0/0/0 and put an ip address on it. The servers will be plugged into the remaining gig interfaces. I tried to create an SVI (vlan interface) in an attempt to create an L3 interface to support routing to these servers but these routers don't allow SVI's to be created. how to put these server connected ports on a vlan and to create an L3 interface to provide routing to them?

I have a 6500 chassis with 2 power supplies. At the moment I am using the default configuration:
power-redudancy mode redundant
The problem is that an inserted module is in "power deny" state due too insufficient power.
I know, that It's not a good idea to change into combined mode (loss of redundancy), but my customers requested this anyway.
So I will change to combined mode. So here's the 1 million dollar question: "Which modules will go into power deny, if one of my power supplies fails?"
The 6500 config guide states:
"Power supply is removed withredundancy disabled
• System log and syslog messages are generated.
• System power is decreased to the power capability of one supply.
• If there is not enough power for all previously powered-up modules, some modulesare powered down and marked as power-deny in the show power oper state field."
Well, do you know if there's any way to configure some kind of priority? E.g. I definetly don't want by 10Gig Module or WiSM module to be in power deny. Can i statically make sure, those module will be powered on for sure? Like: "power enable module slot_number" How is this calculated? Or is random?
In a stand alone 3750x switch configuration, can the secondary power supply only act as a redundant power supply (active/standby), or can it become a "pool" of power similar to power sharing mode for StackPower (somewhat active/active)? I understand there is no stack involved here but I'm curious if this functionality is possible.

View 1 Replies View RelatedCisco... Have two new 3750X switches (24P-L, and 48PF) trying to stack. Brought them up together a few weeks ago with the 24P using LANBase and the 48 IPBase. The expected happened. They saw each other in the stack ring, and the 24 port was excluded due to license miss match. This was corrected. Now both are IPBase. Now I have the two switches stacked, and boot the 48 and 24 at the same time. Monitoring the 48 I get a check message "FIPS: Flash key check: End, Not found. FIPS: Stacking Not Found". The 48 does confirm the stack cable is connected. This happens early in the boot process, before master election.OK.... Now looking at the 24 Port. After applying the new license, and actually booting successfully and few times. It will no longer load the boot file. Wants an environment variable. Going to have to dig into ancient history for that. Had to deal with that one about 8 years ago. Do not feel that is part of the stack disable issue though.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI feel that 3560 and 3750 perform differently with the following two commands:
srr-queue bandwidth shape 5 0 0 0
srr-queue bandwidth limit 50
On 3750, the bandwidth for queue 1 is limited to 100mbps x 50% / 5 = 10mbps
On 3560, the bandwidth for queue 1 is limited to the smaller value of BW / shape weight and BW x limit%.
Does it sound about right? is there a way to check for mls qos input queue drops? The show mls qos interface xxx stat only shows the output queue drops. Maybe for some reason the input queue never drops?
I am on a call right now troubleshooting some latency issue. The CPU usage on the sup card is low. Don't see any drops or input errors. I am aware that the switch and its modules have capability limits. Is there command I can run which will tell me if any module is overloaded or if the fabric/backplane is over utilized? My chassis is WS-C6513 and sup card is WS-SUP720-3B.

When I connect the power cord to the AC main, the power supply module on the back shows "AC OK" LED Green but the "PS OK" LED shows Red. I started referring to the installation guide and it told me that "PS OK" LED turns RED when output has failed. View 5 Replies View RelatedI got some specs here that I can't seem to match with any existing switch - unless the 350CG-8PC-S can be powered by PoE.Let me quickly put down the important specs.
8x Gigabit ports
2x 1G Copper or 1G SFP Uplinks (It'll be a 1x Copper and 1x SFP setup)
support for PoE passthrough ( so just capable of it, provided it's 2x Copper Uplinks )
Does that match the 350CG-8PC-S ?

I am building a switch stack using 4 48 port 3750X switches that will also have the power stacked. If I install a single 715W power supply in each switch will the stack support 802.3af accross all 48 ports on each switch? My calculations are 48 ports x 15.4W which gives me almost 740W needed which is over hte 715W power supply. I was reading somewhere were it mentioned that in a powerstack additional power can be drawn from the stack. I know this will not work if you are trying to support power on all switches accross all ports but would it if say 2 of the 4 switches are needing to provide PoE accross all 48 ports? If I say we can only use 24 ports per switch for PoE that drops the power need down to 370W which I believe should work. Just trying to get a better understanding of PoE consumption. Would the best solution be to just add a second power supply to each switch?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a Cisco 2960-S LAN (support PoE+) switch installed in one of my customers' office. The customer needs to plug some cameras to the switch and need inline power from the swtich.
Two of the cameras requires 24W power in order to work correctly, if just use normal PoE power, can't get all functions working and get an error message on the screen says "not enough power" or something like that. I have configured those two port to static power inline (on a max value which is 30W). Once the configuration applied, shut/ no shut the port, the error message disappeares for a few minutes, and then comes back. Looks like the power level is still on PoE not PoE+.
Is there anything I can do on the configuration to increase the inline power and provide a stable power to that kind of devices?
