I have a Cisco 1841 router which stops functioning sporadically. You have to manually go do hard reboot on the router before it starts working properly. When it goes down, you cannot ping its internal interface (from the LAN side) not its public interface, it seems to go down quite regularly.Where do i start to diagnose, is it hardware failure, or config issue. Nothing has changed as far a the config goes lately.

My modem decides to lose connection at odd hours/times, resulting in the need to restart it. So far my only solution is to manually do that. But, the modem is located in my roommates room who has different sleeping hours than I do. We have tried relocating it but it really doesn't connect then. Anyway, I have my laptop (Windows 7) and access my Netgear router to my Motorola modem supplied by Time Warner Cable. Under normal conditions I can connect to the Surfboard page for the modem and reboot it that way. But, when the connection is dropped, I can not access the modem page via 192.168.100.1. How can I 'remotely' reboot my modem so as not to disturb my roommate?

While i was vaccuming today i accidently touched the power outlet so that the modem and router got restarted. Ever since that the intenet stopped working, it does however connect to the wireless network. On the dlink dir-600 the interet lamp is glowing orange. We have restarted it countless times waiting 10 sec - 1 hour before plugging it back in.

I have CISCO 7206 router with NPE-G2 and 2 gig of memory. There's a vpn and pppoe servers on this unit and it hold maximum of 250-300 simultaneous connections. Periodically (1-5 times/hour) router suddenly reboots with lots of messages in console:
IPFLOW: Warning: V5 overfill -Traceback= 0x14975E4z 0x1A133F4z 0x1A16CC0z 0x1A17754z 0x1A17870z 0x3337874z 0x28F80Cz 0x66A704z

I googled about first "V5 overfill" but no luck, i analyzed crashifo's with cisco tool and it said - it is ios problem, but if i change ios - problem lives again, no matter which ios i use.

I've got 3 computers (2 desk 1 lap) all running Windows 7. I have 2 network printers. The printers are wired to one of the desktops and the other 2 computers connect via network. The printers work fine once I add them to each computer, but once I restart, the printers appear offline on the other 2 computers even though they work fine on the desktop to which they are wired.I've had this setup for a while and only recently this started happening. It looks like Win7 is messing with the IPs of the printers. I'm not an expert on how to find the IP addresses of the printers though and set them to static (if this indeed is the problem)

I have an update package that I need to launch at 1130 p.m., the problem is I don't know how to add in a reboot command so that once the update package is installed, the computer reboots. How could I force the computer to reboot once the update package has been installed, w/o any manual intervention?

i'm running xp sp3, but it is not completely updated. (i was offline for about 8 months and missed tons of updates, still slowly getting things up to date but not there yet.) i install new programs all the time, but none that seem to coincide with this particular problem.
starting a few days ago, my internet randomly goes out. when i try to "repair" my connection through network connections, it says windows cannot renew the ip address. going to command prompt and trying ipconfig/release or ipconfig/renew gives a message about RPC not available. however, a simple reboot fixes everything. for a few hours or so.
i haven't been able to pinpoint exactly when the problem occurs. i often leave utorrent and peerblock running when i go to work - no other programs running - this is what first alerted me to the problem, coming home to find that at some point my internet went down and downloads didn't finish. just this evening i was surfing the web, watching youtube videos, when suddenly my connection went out. this time, only firefox was running, so not a problem with utorrent or peerblock. something else is causing the problem.

I use windows 7 pro 64, and just in this last month (which makes me think a windows update is responsible) I got a problem where restarting my pc or any bootup causes the internet to break. By that, I mean that all of my devices are recognized and peripherals such as phones & ps3 can use the internet, but my PC has broken functionality. In the prompt at left, I have run ipconfig twice. The first time is immediately after a restart. The second time, about halfway down, is after manually reinstalling my realtek ethernet drivers. It does not matter which version I install, only that it is done manually: then the internet works: It appears that every reboot sets my default gateway to 0.0.0.0, which is of course incorrect. How do I stop this from happening?

We are running two WAP4410n devices in our office. One of the devices recently appears to have died. No ethernet, wireless, or POE lights passing packets, however the power indicator stays on steady. Have attempted a direct connection to the box straight from a computer with both straight and cross-over cables. Device will not even do a factory reset via the reset button.Device cannot be reached via web-interface either.

My company uses the SG 300-10 and SF 300-08 switches to deliver services to our customers. We have been using the upgraded firmware version 1.1.2.0. Our normal procedure is to configure the switches in house and upgrade the firmware before sending them out to the customers. The configurations are confirmed in house after the new firmware has been loaded. Recently we have had several of these switches lose the Vlan configuration that we setup. These incidents have occurred after power outages and scheduled reboots. We do not generally have to reboot our customer switches.

The 801 AP on my 881W reboots every other day or so, randomly, on its own. The router / AP works great otherwise, no other issues. I checked the error log and I see no indications of why it would be doing this.

I recently had to deploy about 4 cisco 1131 AP's to one of our branch location. When configuring them on the controller, i needed to put them in HREAP mode. As soon as i do that and the AP needs to reboot, it will continue to reboot in a loop and indicate the following:

we have the issue that a new WLC 5508 has been installed in a new location. Unfortunaltelly we have no hands-on suopport on-site, so just remote connection. Now we figured that the service-port and management interfaces have to be reconfigured. In case we can not reach the WLC with the new configured interfaces it would be useful if the WLC reboots automatically after time x to reload the previouse working configuration. So the question is, is there a functionality to create a script which reboots the WLC automatically after time x?

Before nearly four years we have purchased 4 Cisco ASA 5500 Device for our organization.Out of these four device currently two are active in field and other two we kept as a spare. Now, in one active device we are facing very rare and strange issue.
The device automatically soft reboot once in nearly 60 days and we do not have any pre or post symptoms of this incident only server logs providing us this information. The device itself located in very controlled environment in a data center where physical tampering or temperature waviness is not possible.
We also asked one Cisco Expert from data center but still issue is not solved. Before two month, using remote syslog service we also started log redirection to a server so that when such incident occurs we have something to analyze but it is worthless log has nothing to tell us.
My questions are
1. "It is a hardware fault or software issue?"
2. "Is it possible with Cisco 5500 that automatically it reboots due to some internal hardware/software issue, if yes how we can trap or monitor it?

I have 2 XP machines, both connected to a network switch which connects them to a print server attached to a printer. The last print server recently died and has been replaced, but the problem remains. I've downloaded the driver from the printer manufacturers website and installed on both XP machines, one functions fine but after each reboot the printer is grayed out on the other. Removing it and adding again fixes this until the next reboot.I am aware of some networking issues at this site which result in a few dropped packets between sites but shouldn't be an issue here since they are all attached to the same switch.

Now I tried to configure for Bsnl BroadbandConfiguration is completed as specified in the user manual without any hitchRestarted the system as directed. But rebooting is not fructified. The system did not respond. Hence closed. Later verified the diagnostics and found that the adsl synchronization is failed. I am not a qualified person to analyze the problem.

I am running Windows XP. The machine used to be on a Domain, but I took it off. Now, when I reboot the machine, the Server service is gone, and I have to get it back buy Uninstalling then Reinstalling Microsoft File and Printer Sharing in the internet connections dialog. Is there some security policy or something that prevent the Server service from running at boot?
