Cisco WAN :: 2811 SRST / K9 Fails To Communicate With Network
Sep 14, 2011
I have a Cisco2811 SRST/K9 router with a four port FXO that is part of our phone system. It won't ping to anything on the network except for one particular switch. I can ping that switch (but nothing else) and that switch can ping the router and telnet into the router; however, when I plug the router into any other switch on my network, it will still only successfully ping that one switch. It won't ping the switch that it's physically attached to. I can see the router from the switch when I do a Show CDP Neighbor. And I can see the switch when I do a Show CDP Neighbor from the router. But it won't ping. When I do a Show Adjacency from the router, it returns only that one switch. I've tried a Clear ARP on both the switch and the router. I've also compared the config from the router to the config of a working router on the network and everthing looks the same. I can ping anything on my network from these switches - except that router. I even tried changing the default gateway of the router to be the ip address of the switch with which it can successfully communicate.
I have setup an Anyconnect SSL-VPN in my 2811 and it works just great, but then after the reboot it fails. I think it has something to do with the SSL Cert being ereased. Here is my configuration, if you need anything else:

I have a cisco 3900 integrated services router. I am a little new to the cisco IOS. I am having an issue getting my LAN network to communicate with the WAN gateway. From hosts I can ping the interface IP address but not the gateway. I have used the default route command of IP route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 [wan gateway from ISP] I have already set up NAT, DHCP, I just cant seem to get the internet working, the following is my config.
I've been tasked with designing a network consisting of 3 separate broadcast domains with each one representing a separate business accross 3 separate floors. None of the companies should be able to communicate with each other.I've been told that the design should only represent the first 3 layers of the OSI model so I'm only looking at Cabling, Switching and Routing.
I don't expect you all to tell me exactly how I should do this, however I just need a starting point. My main issue is with routing. I'm aware that each port on a router represents a broadcast domain so if I use one router, 3 broadcast domains, does that means that none of the domains will be able to communicate with each other? Should I use more than one router or can i get away with one? Also just so you are aware I've been told not to use VLans and each broadcast domain must have its own ip address schema.
I have two ASA 5515 configured in failover (active / standby).I used the ASDM wizard to create connections through ipsec cisco client.Currently users are able to connect but can not do a ping to anywhere inside the network.
The ping request is received from the internal client but the internal client can not communicate with the remote user. The ping fail also directly from the ASA.
When the remote client is connected an entry is added to the routing table:
S 192.168.10.130 255 255 255 255 [1/0] via <ip of the ISP>, "WAN"
as if that IP was reachable directly from the Internet.I tried changing the settings of the NAT but in no way I can make them communicate. The ultimate goal would be to create different users with different access permissions to the LAN and the other subnets in the company.
Implement the procedures required so that machine 1 and machine 2 can communicate statically with one another. Outline the TCP/IP settings to be used on each of the machines and set this machine up accordingly.
Me and my wife just moved into a new apartment and got subscribed to a new broadband provider. They sent us through a cisco router (model no.epc2425) and we created a WPA2-Personel secure network, with encryption type TKIP. I have connected my macbook to it, my iPhone to it, and my wifes samsung netbook (running Windows 7) but I cannot connect my laptop running vista to the internet. I've tried playing around with different network security and could connect to it on WEP but I didn't want to keep it on that and I couldn't connect the net-book. The rest of the security types and encryption types have the same response. The computer connects to the network with an excellent signal, but it is the only computer that cannot connect to the internet through this network. I never had a problem like this with this computer and have tried it on other networks. When I run windows network diagnostics it says 'Cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server (188.8.131.52)'Network diagnostics pinged the remote but did not receive a response.'
When I try to automatically get a new IP setting for network adapter it tries to repair but then says 'there still seems to be a problem with your connection'. Likewise when i click 'reset the network adapter' the repair leads back to cannot communicate with primary DNS server.I have tried a wired connection, router to computer, but as soon as I plug it in I get the message 'Windows has detected and IP address conflict' - and it once again connects to the network but not to the internet.I don't know if this makes any difference, but this is a British computer and I moved to Sweden, obviously using a Swedish ISP..i used to have this problem, you need to set the network adaptor to all automatic, your new cisco router uses uPnP so your IP conflict is probably a result of your unconnected laptop trying to connect to the same IP address as another PC on your network (eg/ 192.168.0.5 would be used by your iPhone, but your laptop has reserved that IP address for itself), to fix this, go to network and sharing center, navigate to adaptor settings on the left pane, right click the wireless card and choose properties>IPv4 properties, set everything to automatic, including all things in other tabs and click advanced and make sure DHCP is enabled on that card. Then reboot and try again.''I had a look at the wireless card (it's Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter) and on the IPv4 properties it's already on 'obtain and IP address automatically & obtain DNS server automatically' as well as 'automatic private IP address' in one of the tabs.
This is a real world project. A Cisco 1700 series router will be installed at one location and a ADTRAN 1224R router will be installed on the other side. I’d like to test it before installing at client-side by using a Cisco 2800 and the ADTRAN mentioned above. I made a T1 crossover cable and CD led is green on 1DSU-T1 V2 of 2800.
I believe something is wrong with clocking. I used service-module t1 clock source internal command on 2800 to provide clocking and set ADTRAN clocking to Line BUT If I reboot the ADTRAN, while debugging service-module on 2800, I can see this:SERVICE_MODULE(Serial0/1/0):Unit has no clock [complete output is below].
And even if I swap clocking sources, still get the same output on 2800 as above.PPP requests sent from either sides are not acknowledged. [output below]
I get Se0/1/0 PPP: Authorization required every a few seconds on 2800. [output below]

I am having an issue with 3 xp pc's in my network loosing connectivity to the file server. There are 4 network drives mapped to a win 2k3 server, when the user logs in everything is fine, after a while the network drives become unreachable and gives the following error - An error accrued while reconnecting (drive letter) to \servershare Microsoft windows network: The local device is already in use The connection has not been restarted” This happens from any user on only 3 boxes. The rest of the network is fine. These 3 are networked via a switch, I swapped that out for another hoping that might fix it, but nothing.
The other odd thing is the same time that the network drives error out it seems that DNS stops resolving anything outside my network. I can still ping the router and other pcs on the LAN but DNS fails to resolve any names for IE, and nothing outside the LAN can be pinged, no Google, no 184.108.40.206. How ever restarting fixes the issue for a short while. There have been no network changes and all systems are fully up to date as far as patches go. I was thinking it's got to be a ether a DNS issue (the file server is also the Active Directory Domain controller) or something in to do with the router/fire wall we use (it's a Cisco ASA 5005).
Bought multiple WAP121s which are physically connected via CAT5 to the Ethernet NIC of a printer. Printer is in a warehouse with no Ethernet cabling -- but there is a wifi signal provided by a Cisco wireless router -- which is why we got the WAPs -- so PCs could get their jobs sent to the printer via Wifi > WAP > printer NIC.
Problem is the printers only stay visible on for about 15 min or so -- then disappear. Only way to get them visible again is to do a powercycle on the printer (not the WAP121). Then it stays visible for for another 15 minutes or so -- then disappears. If a Workstation sends a continues (-t) ping to the printer IP -- the printer will stay online and get print jobs.... but if activity is idle for 10-15 minutes... it disappears (power-save is off on the printer).
Firmware on WAP121 is current.
What setting on the WAP could be enable to keep the printers alive? have been trying to operate in bridge mode... What is the "best practice" here for connecting a printer to a WIFI via these WAP121s?
problem with my Dell Latitude D600 Laptop,I tried re-installing my OS, so now with a fresh new OS the wireless capabilities worked fine, but only for the first day, then the next morning the whole problem began again. Now it would say " No supported wireless adapters found" and when i would open the device manager some devices would have the yellow exclamation point, some of the devices would say "Intel PCIC compatible PCMICA controller" and " PCMICA MTD-0002" or just "card bus controller" and many other ones that would alternate when they appear. And also sometimes my network adapters would completely disappear from the list. I also tried scanning my whole drive for viruses and nothing was found.
Then i found that if you disconnect the wireless adapter physically and re connect it, it might work, but it didn't. I should also add that before this problem for some time i had another problem with the same laptop that had to do with the battery malfunctioning, and it displays a 4 orange , 1 green pattern sequence on the LED charge display. But it had never affected any of the laptops hardware or software before, so I don't know if that might have anything to do with it.
I have a major wired network issue. It manifests itself as not being able to print to my two home network (wired) printers and speedtest upload test fails.I can disconnect the ethernet cable from the failing desktop and plug it in to a laptop and everything works fine.I have tried disabling AVG firewall.
My Vista computer and my XP computer had been happily "talking" to each other, sharing files and printers. I got tired of paying $70 a year for Norton Internet Security, so I uninstalled it (using the Norton removal tool) and selected the Windows Firewall. I also installed Avast! and SuperAntiSpyware. Now neither computer talks to the other. When I run "\FamilyRoomHPOfficeJet" I get "Windows cannot access \FamilyRoomHPOfficeJet" . Check spelling, etc. Get error code 0x800704b3 "The network path was either typed incorrectly, does not exist or the network provider is not currently available..." What have I messed up by going from the Norton firewall to the Windows one.
I work at a hospital and one of our department uses specialized software created by Varian Medical Systems. It has been brought to my attention that one of those applications has trouble opening during the day. I had the users demonstrate the issue and from what they explained to they are supposed to be able to open the application, log in, and be presented with a list of radiology images to choose from. Unfortunately, during the day this fails often and they have to try 3 or 4 times before it actually works. It behaves differently after 4 pm, and seems to work after the 1st or 2nd time at that time of the day. According to what I've been told this has been an issue as long as they can remember.
Varian has told me that they have done a number of things on their side to rule out their software and they think it is a network issue. We used Solar winds Engineer's Tool set (specifically the Network Performance Monitor) to monitor their switch and it is reporting no errors and the utilization graphs show that the ports involved have very little utilization. The most heavily utilized port is hovering between 10 and 5 person (Fa0/40). I've included a network diagram, but basically we have 1 10/100 Cisco 3350 switch (c3550-ipservices-mz.122-25.SEB4.bin), 4 clients, and 2 servers involved. They all are connected to the same switch at A-Full/A-100mbps. Although the Network Performance Monitor doesn't show any errors or over utilizaton of the ports in the the CLI I do see 35 output buffer failures and 35 under runs on the port connected to one of the servers (Fa0/40). They were a little higher and I cleared them about two weeks ago and then rebooted the switch, because I found that it could alleviate these types of errors.
They say the software use ports 5000, 55000, 55010, and 55020. We tried a packet capture, but I didn't have enough experience/knowledge to get anything useful out of it. I also checked the event logs on the clients and servers and nothing there indicates a issue in the software. They want us to replace the switch with a gigabit switch, but we have a REALLY limited budget and I would rather not if it isn't necessary. What I could try in order to rule out the network?
I intend to deploy a voice+data network using some old 3745 and 2811. The network in effect has six 3745 in a hybrid topology at different locations and each having three WIC-2T, one WIC-4T, three NMHDV-2E1. That's pretty much juicing out the maximum from these routers These will serve as my core routers and for access I will be using my 2811s with more VWICs and lesser WIC-2T to give voice and data to subscribers. The 2811s will have links to multiple 3745s. The NMHDV-2E1 will serve for the voice needs at the 3745 locations. All the WAN links will be E1. All my telephones will be on analog voice using traditional EPABX with CEPT/ PRI E1 cards for connecting to the routers. And for data, ethernet ports. Two of the routers will have E1 links to the PSTN and Internet which has to be extended to all my folks. Now, for the tricky part, all my network modules are refurbished stuff from ebay and all the ports will have links on them. I intend to use OSPF with only the backbone area.
I'm now trying to implement a IPsec VPN network over transport mode in my simple network environment.I got two Cisco 2811 routers connected each other and each router hosts a client PC running Windows7.
I have finished the configuration on both routers and make them running over transport mode. However, as what it should be, transport mode indicates the communication between two end stations (two PCs) the client PC (install or configure something) to make the network fully works?
I would like to transport two time slots (TDM traffic) over an IP network in order to connect two telecom devices located in different sites, i have cisco 2811 routers on both sites with ip advanced services 12.4.20T IOS
I have the WUSB600N wireless adapter, and I'm using it with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I'm using the latest driver available, 220.127.116.11. When Windows first starts, the adapter is not working properly and fails to connect to any networks, no matter how long I wait. If I unplug it and plug it back in after Windows is already running, I do not have this issue. This also does not occur when "restarting" the machine; only when turning the machine off and then back on.
I currently have a Cisco 2621 powering a network at our co-location facility... It's a simple setup and is working well. The colo provides a redundant HSRP uplink, so I have their two uplinks going into a Dell switch. From that Dell switch I have a uplink into FastEthernet0/0 on the 2621, configured with my routing network, and then FastEthernet0/1 gets an address from my block of routable IP. FastEthernet0/1 then plugs into another Dell switch where I have all my servers connected. The servers get public routable IP addresses and use the address on FastEthernet0/1 as their default gateway.
It's time to upgrade off the 2621, so I aquired a Cisco 2811 which has two FE interfaces, as well as a modular HWIC-4ESW switch. My question is, can I get rid of the Dell Switch A in the setup above and just use the internal switch on the 2811 to accomplish the same thing? And I if I did this, would my two uplinks from the colo plug into ports 1 and 2 of that HWIC, and then port 3 would physically connect into FE 0/0? Or can I logically do that via configuration in the Cisco? I'm not sure how all this works and haven't received the new router yet, so I thought I'd get a head start and reach out to the experts.
My second question is unrelated, but each port on the HWIC switch cannot be configured as a network interface right? I'm pretty sure they can't as they aren't considered network interfaces but just thought I'd ask.
We are facing network heavy and slow performance at one of our remote site, we are using Cisco2800 series router with same IOS on either of the sites. Our WAN network is running on BGP with EIGRP configured and tunnels were configured on either of the sites. As part of the testing I have removed the tunnel to see the performance was ok from Head office to remote branch and the WAN network is getting heavy and slow down when we put the tunnel back in hub and spoke.

I have just bought a TP-Link Wireless Access Point (TL-WA&01ND) and an ethernet switcher (TL-SF2005D).I have put the access point into client mode, allowing me to put it in my room and wirelessly connect to my router, allowing me to plug my PC in over ethernet and use the internet. However, after much fiddling with settings I cannot get it to work, as it continually searches for a network, and then fails to connect, despite the fact it is configured to use the network?I already have a similar setup with a netgear wireless G access point which works, and so I dont understand why the new box cannot do this when using what I believe to be the same settings.
Secondly I have an ethernet switch box which I bought to connect to the access point and switch the ethernet signal between my two PCs, my xbox and PC. This works fine with my primary PC (over my old access point) but when I try to connect my PC i get a DNS failure with auto IP settings and a gateway failure with manual settings, and other devices refuse to connect.
I am preparing for CCNA exam and for that I have been working with OSPF in packet tracer. In the scenario below I have made configuration with three routers and everything seems to be working well. However, following ping commands cannot be reached.PC0 cannot communicate with other two PCs. Others can.(can ping from PC1 to PC0 and PC2. Can ping from PC2 to PC0 and PC1 BUT CANNOT PING FROM PC0 TO PC1 and PC2) [code]
I tested ospf multi-areas in packet tracer as shown in attached file.(Sorry I don't know how to upload the lab image.)There I got a problem that router 0 in area 1 and router 6 in area 3 cannot communicate.Except this, router 0 can communicate with other routers and the same to router 6. I have made a virtual link between backbone, area 1 and 2 ABR router 1 and area 2,3 ABR router 4.I use process id 123 for every area. But when I type "show ip route" in router 0, it is shown [code] when it is typed in router 6, it is shown [code] So, router 6 cannot communicate with router 0.I don't wanna make a static route to 18.104.22.168 network in router 6.
My friend and I bought Acer Aspire 5741's about 9 months ago and neither of us has had any problems until now. My friend went to connect to the internet via wireless router yesterday to find that there was limited connectivity (no internet access). We assumed it was a router issue and I gave her a number of things to check but all seemed ok with it. I went to her house to look at it today and when I ran the connection troubleshooter got "windows can't communicate with.......... (DNS server)". I connected my laptop via her router and everything was fine. I brought her laptop back to my house and tried to connect to the internet via my router and got exactly the same 'DNS' message - my laptop again connected without any problem.
I have re-booted the routers, laptops, network adapters etc and also checked the wireless adapter settings on both laptops, which appear to be the same. I have re-set the TCP/IP stack and have also tried ipconfig /release and /renew - none of which seems to have made any difference. the results of the tests are as follows (linksys is the SSID in use):
Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Debbie-PC Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
I've been having a problem with my browser lately, Its really slow and it turns out I have 1000 ping average ...the ping does up and down some times its 1 or 2 sometimes 500 . any way I get this msg when I use the diagnose option " Cannot communicate with DNS server(22.214.171.124) .
