I have a NM-4A/S serial network module which I suspect is having problem on a Cisco 3640 router. Is there a way which I can test the async ports out without connecting to any other devices? [code]
View 2 RepliesI have two WLCs (5508 - v7.0.220 and 2106 - v7.0.116) that were NMSP connected to a MSE (v7.0.201.204) according to WCS (7.0.172.0)The MSE reloaded (Actually a reload command from WCS hung the MSE and it hard to be hard rebooted) and I ran into a NTP issue with the MSE running GMT timezone and WLCs running GMT -8. This was highlighted by the NMSP status testing tool. As a quick solution I changed both WLCs to GMT. The tool now tests all green, but the NMSP status remains Inactive for both WLCs and I have no client or tag information flowing into WCS.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've cloned the configuration off one of my ASA5510's to another 5510 to use as a template for a new data center deploy. I have configured the new firewalls networks and rules, and of course changed the WAN IP config to its new setting.
I want to test the firewall in y office before I deploy it. How should I configure my Macbooks ethernet configuraiton to test the firewall?, as I have tried without success to connect to it.
Let's say that my WAN configuration is 134.5.169.98/255.255.255.224 with a static route of IP address 0.0.0.0, Netmask 0.0.0.0 and a gateway IP of 134.5.169.97.
I've tried setting the route to force all traffic through the interface (sudo route add 0.0.0.0/1 134.5.169.98), but that did not work either. A trace route to the external interface IP of the firewall (or the external IP of an expose server) get's a "no route to host" error.
I've tried many configurations and have not been able to access the internal servers/services/VPN at all.I've also tried with a cross over, and straight through cables.
What should I configure my macbooks network configuration as so I can connect directly to the WAN port to test external access to the internal servers/services and test the VPN client?
We have the 16-port (NM-16A) and 32-port (NM-32A) asynchronous (async) network modules which provides 16 or 32 EIA/TIA-232 (formerly know as RS-232) data terminal equipment (DTE) serial interfaces at speeds up to 134.4 kbps . Few of the interfaces are connected to the console of cisco switches and routers , now we need to know that the remaining interfaces can be connected to console ports of devices other then cisco Systems to manage them , Will it work with them ?

During bandwidth tests to several sites (principally speedtest.net) I get ping times of 10-11 ms, download speeds of 12+ to 17+ mbps but failure on upload tests using my DIR-655.
When I bypass the 655 and test directly with my cable modem, all (including upload) tests work reliably and consistently.
I have swapped the two ethernet cables involved as well as replacing both with new cables but the results are the same (uploads fail with 655 and work without it)
I have seen several postings over the the last year with this same problem but have never seen any comment from D-Link, or a solution from any reader.
Not that it should have any bearing, but I have TA785GE-128M motherboard and am running Windows 7 (patch current) on COMCAST
is this problem acknowledged by D-Link and is there a solution?
when doing the downloadupload test in UTorrent program it claims my port is not open (Default 17690). After I plugged my machine directly to the modem (suspect of port forwarding not working), after removing the antivirus I have, and after adding to my firewall inbounds rule regarding to that port, I still fail on the test.

The connction status sometimes show's limited connectivity when I click on disconnect and connect again it prompts for troubleshoot connectivity problem, on clicking this it runs a few checks and brings up a window saying connectivity has been fixed and then my internet work's fine. This problem sometimes does not occur all the time. Sometimes after i switch on the router and then the wifi switch it connects just fine.

My wireless network adapter will suddenly get "limited connectivity", won't connect to the internet but will still get the router.Disabling and then enabling it will cause my computer to freeze, requiring a hard restart. The same with troubleshooting. The only thing which fixes this is a fresh reboot, however it then occurs again within the hour.

I recently installed a WIC 1DSU-T1-V2 card into a 1841 router to add to a multilink bundle. I inserted it in Slot 1 and powered up the router and there was a new serial interface showing in the config automatically as s0/1/0. I was able to get it setup with ppp multilink and added to the multilink group. The problem is I need to do a sh controller or sh service-module to see if there are errors happening (I'm using this card as a replacement for an interface that was giving errors with this line before). I can do a sh s0/1/0 and that works but I can't see deeper. I found it odd that the serial port just appeared in the config when I booted without having to do anything, if this is correct behavior and how I see the Controller or CSU info for troubleshooting?

It worked fine initially, I tried turning the wifi switch on and off, it tells me that there are no wifi connections available, however everyone else Is able to connect via Wifi on their computers and myself without a problem on other devices.On troubleshooting it's says - that an Ethernet cable is broken or not plugged in properly, and is unable to fix the problem, as obviously I am not connected via any cable.I looked in network and it says that the Ethernet cable is unplugged and does not show any available networks.

We have a location that currently has one frame T1 and 4 point-to-point T1s. We are looking at adding a second frame T1 to be bonded with the first. Currently, we have an old 3640 router, so I am thinking this would be a good time for an upgrade. Cost is a concern, so I am hoping to buy something refurbished that is newer than what we have now but is not going to cost a ton as buying new would. My thought is either a 2821 or 2921 with 2 HWIC-4T1/E1. I am not familiar with this HWIC just wanting to make sure this a good solution for our situation.

1. Can i connect my DSL (on ethernet interface and using static DSL IP) on the same router and confgure two static routes to internet - one to multilink interface and other to ethernet interface (connected to DSL) ?
2. I have many servers using static NAT to external IPs which are routed on T1 circuits. Will it get into issues when communicating to outside? [for example my exchange server, websites etc?

The Cisco 3600 series (3640) is hanged during booting proccess, the IOS is decompressed, but after some text it hanges and I even cannot go to user exec. ROMmon and bypassing the config setting, but the result is still the same.

We have a Cisco 3640 router running c3640-is-mz.123-3g.bin Switching ports are devided into several VLans. Each VLan has its own IP subnet. We can't ping IP address X in subnet A from subnet B unless we log into the router and ping it from there first. (and then the IP address will show up in "show ip arp" command. Then we can ping X in subnet A from subnet B, and browse web on device X from subnet B, etc. )
