I am experiencing 1 4548 module fail issue with one of my customer place. unfortunately they are having only 1 4507R+E chassis and 1 4548 module. however i have replaced the module 4548 and getting the same error even after replacing ...!! but they are having redudant X45-SUP6L-E tried by removing each at one time with no luck. So I realized to use command "hw-module" to change the module to GE port. However, I am not able to use the command as" I cannot use the command "hw-module uplink" as well.
Can we put a module on a 4507R switch running on a live production? The module will come from a 4506 switch.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco Catalyst 4507R+E (with Sup7-E) and two blades; one WS-X4748-RJ45V+E and one WS-X4648-RJ45-E.
When I connect a device to a port on the WS-X4748-RJ45V+E blade the port will not come up, show interface shows the status as "notconnect". When I connect the same device to the WS-X4648-RJ45-E blade the interface comes up.
The WS-X4748-RJ45V+E blade seems to have initialised okay, it appears in the output of "show module" as OK.
I get exactly the same effect on a second, identically configured Catalyst 4507R+E.
The software version is IOS XE 3.1.0SG, which according to the release notes supports the WS-X4748-RJ45V+E blade

I've 4500 Core Switch with 4507R chassis, Sup V-10GE(WS-X4516-10GE) along with 2 WS-X4306-GB line Cards, but now I require a line card for 14 more fiber up links and I cannot go with 3 of 4306 as there are only 2 slots left. I've checked and found that E series line cards does not work with Sup V Engine.

We have two Cisco 2960 TT-L switches. I'd like to reduce single points of failure and have dual servers for most tasks. For example, two firewall servers and two web servers. Should one server fail the other will act as a failover.I'd like to extend the redundancy to the switches, and am thinking of connecting one web server to one switch, and one to the other. In the event a switch failed a set of servers would still run, and be able to talk to each other.I'd like to run two VLANs, one for the LAN, and one of the WAN, and connect the two VLANs on each of the switches with the associated VLAN on the other switch.

What is the error message indicating and what is the solution for this.
I know that the C3KX-NM-10GT network module has two (copper) ports that support speeds of 1Gps or 10Gps. Could this module work with one port at 1Gb and the second port at 10gb simultaneosly? It's possible to work each port of the module with different speed (one port working on 1Gb mode and the other working on 10Gb mode)?

We have just replaced a 4507R for a 4507R-E but I can't RME to manage it. I also can't get Cisco View to work. We appear to have packages installed (see attachments).

In chassis's slot we have ACE and FWSM slot also. if I will upgrade chassis it will reboot ACE too.I do not want to reload Chassis.
We have a new 4507R-E Switch which RME keeps reporting as "CONFIG_CHANGE" each evening. When you click to see the change, the only thing that has changes is the "ntp clock-period".
However, we have configured "ntp clock-period" as an exclude command in RME Config Managment.
We have 694 units Cisco Catalyst 4507R plus E swithes accross the network. LMS 4.1 can discover it no problem however, i cannot extract inventory information for these switches. I have a 4507R-E chassis with Supervisor IV running IOS 12.2(50)SG. I am trying to configure "auto qos voip trust" on some of the uplink ports. When I try to configure it on a port that is in a channel group, I get the error "AutoQoS Error: AutoQoS can not be configured on member port(s) of a port-channel". I have also tried configuring it on the channel interface, but it is not an available command under the channel interface. Is there a way to do auto qos on the channel interfaces or their member ports or does it have to be configured manually?

I installed LMS 4.0 succesfully, but when i go to topology, can view all network, but the "AswitchA" Core 4507R+E be displayed as "?"
And it can not display this "AswitchA" into CISCO VIEW, display this messaje :
"Cannot find applicable device package for ... This error could be due to one of the following:

Both outside interfaces of 7204 gateways are connecting to 7609 with different public ip block.I used VRRP for my internal nework and failover have been tested working.Even tried to remove link of 7204-A and 7609, the failover works perfect.But somehow we're facing a problem:
- If I shutdown/ remove the link between my 4507R-E and 7204-A (primary gw_higher vrrp priority), vrrp redundancy/failover still works but internal network's internet connection goes down.
I asked our ISP and the route commands they put in their 7609 are as of follows:
ip route 3.8.8.0 255.255.255.0 3.4.4.4 name TO CUSTOMER LINK 1
ip route 3.8.8.0 255.255.255.0 3.3.3.3 2 name TO CUSTOMER LINK 2
And if they're trying to use Reliable Static Routing Backup Using Object Tracking, the internal network's internet connections is intermittent....alternate 4 ping reply and 4 timeout.

Currently have a pair of 6509 chassis setup with VSS. Only have the Sup and two line cards in each chassis. Would like to replace with a new pair of 6504E chassis. Is it possible to fail one chassis at a time and migrate to the new 6504E?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI work for a non-profit agency and a donor gave us a generous donation of used Cisco equipment. One of the items is a SM-VAM2+. We tried it in a 7206VXR chassis with a NPE-G2 running 12.4(24)T6 and the router keeps barking that the SM-VAM2+ is not supported in the chassis. We have done searches on the Cisco web site and Google and there is no information regarding the SM-VAM2+ at all (all of the references are for the SA-VAM2+).
The question is if the SM-VAM2+ is supported on the 7206VXR with another version of IOS or what router supports the SM-VAM2+?
We are preparing to install a new switching Infrastructure at one of our sites. We have decided that we want to have two separate chassis as a core. My original idea was to purchase 2 - 4500 chassis and install 10Gb and 1GB line cards in each and use STP and HSRP to load balance between the two cores.
We had also contacted a vendor for thier recommendations and they came back with 2 6500 Chassis running VSS. I reviewed what VSS was as I had never heard of it and it looks to me basically to be real close to the same thing as Stacking. I didn't really want to have stacked Cores because I would like to have the flexibility to be able to take one core out and update the software or image, reboot, and such without effecting anything on the network. I can do that with the non-VSS approach but it looks like that would be more of a problem with VSS.
My question is, how to use VSS with the 6500's? How to take one of the VSS pairs off line and not effect normal network operations?
I just installed two of the HWIC-1GE-SFP cards in the CISCO3945 router but they are not recognized... I don't see any messages on the console output. I don't see them in the "show diag" command. I don't see new ports in the "show run" either... Is there some command I need to put in to activate them? Here is show version of my router:

I have a situation where My 6513 chassis is covered by smart-net as are most of my line cards but my Supervisors - SUP2 is End of life - end of support - What will happen if i need config help - or a hardware issue with the supervisor ? anyone run into this ? - Yes I know you buy support on the chassis not the line card and If you buy support the whole chasis is covered.
