Cisco WAN :: RV082 V4.1 Internet Hang Until Cold Restart On Dual WAN?
Dec 22, 2011
I am having issue with a RV082 with firmware:
v4.1.0.02-tm (Sep 16 2011 18:40:48)
On setup 1 I have;Using 2 WAN, 1 from fiber 5mbps symetric fixed public IP and other is DSL private dynamic dhcp address 3mbps/900kbps
On setup 2 i have:Using 1 WAN, from fiber 5mbps symetric fixed public ip Both router have exact same firewall configuration, subnet and port forwarding and we have the seccont backup DSL coming in a few day for setup 2.on both setup, the RV082 is the main internet gateway/firewall for a set of server...
Setup 1 work perfectly and been online for 2 week (since install) without issue
Setup 2 worked for 2 day then had to reboot, then work for few days then need reboot, now it look like it need to be rebooted every day. the internet just stop working and a simple reboot does the trick... also, when that happen I can stil remote in server that have port forwarded in the router or connect to router management port, but internet on the server is down... I tried opendns and google dns on both WAN connection and still no luck.I have followed instruction on various support forum;
-more reliable dns server
-lower MTU
-failover vs load balance
-disabling SPI and DoS protection
at this point I'm about to swap both router to see if it not a defective hardware or disconnect DSL WAN on setup 1 to see if its more stable but the whole point of installing this router was for Internet redundancy which so far dosent work as expected.
i have facing problem in my Cisco Secure router 2811. It hanging every 5 to 10 minutes and restart. IOS of cisco router is 12.4 ipsecurity. I have attached the error log and configuration file of my router. Kindly see the log and let me the problem in my router.
I've been noticing that occasionally our 2nd Gen RV082 fails to allow internal admin management until a manual restart. After the restart, all seems to be fine and traffic/router is very responsive. The following describes typically how the issue occurs: Internet traffic is rather slow and unresponsiveContent is failing to load for end usersWebsite are loading but with images or css failing to loadWebsites fail to load and appear offline (not all, but some such as ebay for example)We recognize there is a problem, let's try to access the local router adminFails to load the log-in prompt, so we manually reboot the deviceAll is operational for now We are running Firmware Version: 2.0.0.19-tm. We have a RV082 V03 being used as a gateway that was bought in mid 2011. The firmware version that came with it was v4.0.0.07. Up until we upgraded to firmware v4.2.1.02(Upgraded in Jan.2013), we would have to restart the router once every month due to loss of internet connectvity and it locking up. After I upgraded it to the 4.2.1.02, it gradually starting increasing from rebooting the router once a month, to once a week, then to multiple times a day. Today, I upgraded the firmware to the latest version being v4.2.2.08 and it has not froze up since the upgrade, but then again, it happens randomly through the day so it might not happen until tomorrow morning so we will see how this goes. During the time when it looses connectivity, I CANNOT get to the web gui or even ping the RV082 device. The lights on the RV082 are blinking like it is working though. This router is not even 2 years old yet and cannot believe that it would be dying already.
I use a RV082 with dual Wan and I cannot configure two SMTP.
Without authentication; a SMTP is specific of the provider.
When WAN1 comes down, SMTP to be used is the SMTP corresponding to WAN2 and vice versa.
Implementation of authentication with the mail server wil be useful. Possibility of two mail servers with indication of the corresponding WAN is also useful.
We have a RV082 configured with two ISP Wan connections. We recently implemented a VOIP phone system (SIP) (192.168.1.50) that is being used in appliance mode on our network. We currently have two WAN connections Load Balanced. My goal is to configure all my VOIP traffic to go out through the 1st ISP and the rest of the data through ISP #2. is this possible to achieve using the RV082? We are using a Skype SIP Trunk connection.
I've a RV082 with 2 internet connections. The idea is to permit external connections to my server and if one Internet line falls, automatically switch to the other.
We have configured the router in Smart Link backup. We try to connect with WAN1 and WAN2 enabled and all works fine.
We try to connect with WAN1 disabled and automatically WAN2 is activated. The problem start here...if WAN1 is activated while there are connections using WAN2, these connections falls!
How I must configure the router to permit that active connections are not disconnected from WAN2 even when WAN1 connection come back?
(2) identical DSL connections, configured as Static IP (not PPPoE) with modems in bridged mode. Static IP's are /25 subnet and same gateway ** this may be a problem? Dual WAN set for Load Balance, network service detection is OFF
We have a 2003 terminal server running and successfully receiving connections through both WAN connections. Depending on location, half the users are connecting to WAN1 IP and the other half to WAN2 IP. We are getting sporadic disconnects of the remote users when they are idle for a couple minutes and automatic reconnection of the session takes over a minute. If they close the (locked up) session and reconnect manually it will let them in right away.
Could the handling of the Dual-WAN be the culprit? Could the same gateway for both WAN's create this issue upstream (out of my control)?I am going to move everyone to connecting through WAN1 and then change to Smart Link Backup and see if the issues persist.
Another thought is to use a secondary IP on the terminal server and use Protocol Binding to match "All traffic" for IP1 to WAN1 and IP2 to WAN2, which theoretically would stabilize the situation?
I am trying to set up a dual WAN on my RV082 - I have Verizon DSL on WAN1 and I am trying to establish Time Warner Road Runner on WAN2 as a backup in case DSL goes out on WAN1.I cannot get the router to recognize both connections at the same time. I have power cycled everything, the router is only picking up one internet signal at a time.
I had my exisiting Huawei 3G Dongle replaced with a new LTE USB Dongle Huawei E392 from M1 Singapore. The router dectects it and I was able to get on to the Internet. But every after few mins, the connection will just hang and I have to go into the router to re-establish the connection.
we have 55 of the 1841 routers here, and one of them always boots to ROMMON from a very cold (down 1 hour or more) start. The image on all 55 is c1841-ipbasek9-mz.124-24.T4.bin. 32 MB Cisco brand flash. Here's what's been done thus far:In ROMMON changed to 0x2102. Then 'reset' and the image boots fine. Change config-reg to 0x2102. Save config. Reload and image boots fine again. Wait an hour or more and boots to ROMMON.Boot from ROMMON to USBflash0: Format the CF then copy over the bin file. Change to 0x2102 and save. Reload and image boots fine again. Wait an hour or more and boots to ROMMON.Swapped CF with another unit. Again, works fine to reload, but shut down and restart an hour or more later and boots to ROMMON. Format this CF and copy over image while on router. Image boots fine. Wait an hour or more and boots to ROMMON.In each case of very cold start the configuration register has reverted to 0x0 {why it boots to ROMMON}Tried dx mode with 0x8001. Nothing seen that is unusual to me, but I'm not an expert by any means. It doesn't seem to a CF card problem, but could be a connection to the CF card and then something behind that.
Here is the output of diagnostic boot mode:
Cisco 1841 (revision 7.0) with 116736K/14336K bytes of memory. Processor board ID FTX1231W0JA 2 FastEthernet interfaces 2 Low-speed serial(sync/async) interfaces DRAM configuration is 64 bits wide with parity disabled. 191K bytes of NVRAM.
I am having an annoying issue the past few weeks. Every time I start my computer, it can't seem to connect to the internet. It says there are no networks available. I then have to restart my computer and everything is all good. How come it is not picking up the internet on the first try?
I have a few sites all running Cisco ASA 5510s. They all share the same asa (8.4(4)1) and asdm (6.4.9) version, but their configs differ significantly. I have a cold spare sitting in my office in the event we have a physical failure. Is there a quick and simple way I can load up multiple configs and then boot up the cold spare to then run the config from Site_A or Site_B? Just looking for a quick solution rather than doing a full restore should something fail spectacularly. Nice to say upon bootup, using confreg perhaps, to boot Site_A config rather than Site_C.
I can use my computer just fine right now, but whenever I need to restart it, when it comes back on the internet is no longer detected. I am connected through an ethernet wire directly to the internet, with no intermediate router or network.
After failing to solve the problem on my own, the only way Ive found that has been after to restore the internet connection is using the Windows Restore centre and restoring it to about a month ago; restoring it to only a few days ago does not fix the internet.
However, also when I use the restore function, immediately upon starting my system up again I get an error message saying that the system restore has failed and that nothing was changed. But the internet now works again.
Im not really sure what I should do to check out the problem further, let alone remedy it. I run Windows Vista, 64-bit. I can provide further info if need be.
I have a DELL Desktop, and Window Vista Home Premium. My internet disconnects alone daily or 2 time daily, and I need to restart the computer to connect it again. I try to disability my Norton Security Suite, Diagnose and repair the Network, The 2 Network Adapters (Power Manager) are disables (the wireless, and the wire adapters)
My customer uses WS-C3560G-48TS-E switches in air traffic control systems. A requirement for one project is that the entire system be up and running in under five minutes. The WS-C3560G-48TS-E and its replacement - WS-C3560X-48T-E with C3KX-NM-1G - take about four minutes to start up. With other devices added in they exceed their required startup time. They also use WS-C3560V2-48TS-E switches which take about two minutes to start up but they want they GE.
1) Is there way to improve the start up time in the WS-C3560G-48TS-E and WS-C3560X-48T-E switches?
2) Is there another Catalyst switch with similar specifications to WS-C3560G-48TS-E and WS-C3560X-48T-E that has a quicker start up time.
I am seeing SNMP coldstart traps that either are delayed by many hours or are false (e.g. right after receiving the coldstart trap a query to sysUptime shows the nodes been up for days).I seen this twice this week in a new network environment for me for two different C2900s running C2900-UNIVERSALK9-M Version 15.0(1)M3 Assuming the coldstart traps are coming from the actual source nodes, I am curious what could be going on here.
1) One guess I have is possibly the system clock changed could cause the SNMP agent to send a false cold start trap. Then my guess is in the device log I should see a system time change syslog message.
2) I recall hearing once that syslog and possible traps messages are held in configurable buffer who default value is 1 and if not sent are held and then suffer a delayed sent. Is it true for both traps and syslog ? In the past I assumed this was simply the logging history buffer and applicable to syslog traps only. My assumption in the past was that last trap or last syslog message is sometimes held on reload and sent immediately after restart regardless of device connectivity to the management target.
I always assumed coldstart traps are never delayed for any reason and that they were pretty accurate substitutes for system reload syslog messages. Does anyknow know any reason for false or delayed coldstart traps on a C2900 with IOS 15.0(1) ?
I have Vista Home premium 32 bit. My connection from the internet has been a frustrating problem. I have to turn my computer off and on several times before my wireless works. It I do a restart on my computer my internet does not work, so I have to totally shut it down and wait then restart and even then it my not work. I always run the repair to repair wireless connection and even that does not work.
I have a motorola usb modem which is connected to my laptop and i have shared the connection and have an ethernet cable from laptop to wireless modem (TP-LINK) such that other wifi enabled devices can connect to it.Now we have electricity blackouts and when that happens my wireless router gets turned off. Internet on the laptop is working fine, now when the electricity comes back and the wireless router is on, the net does not work on the other wifi devices and only my laptop (as its directly connected to the modem).I have to reboot my laptop for the shared connection to work.
My mother's computer periodically loses internet connectivity. This happens regardless of the browser (IE or Firefox). She must restart her computer to get access again. This happens regardless of her internet connection. She uses verizon at her home and accesses through my wireless router when visiting. This also happens if she is on a public access network such as a hospital
I recently upgraded my computers hardware which included a new motherboard, ever since installing this new motherboard my internet connection has been unreliable. The motherboard ( Gigabyte p67-ud4-b3) has an inbuilt NIC which i connected to my router via a standard cable.I first started noticing the interruptions when download files any bigger than 20MB as they would randomly go down to 0kb/sec and I would have to restart the download. I bypassed this by using a download manager but i have noticed it happening on youtube streams now which is getting rather annoying. The only thing i've changed for this to start happening is the motherboard and a new installation of windows 7.I've tried various things to fix this by fiddling with router settings and even updating the router software but nothing has worked ( I have also done various virus scans all showing no viruses)
I have recently purchased a RVS4000 router and am experiencing major downtime.Almost everyday the RVS4000 router losing internet connectivity. I noticed that when this happens I cannot login into the router from my pc which is connected to the RVS4000 network. The only way to restore connectivity is to restart the RVS4000 by disconnecting power and powering back up.The router's WAN is connected to my Cable modem. The RVS400 has two PC connected to it. (port 3 & 4) I have a Cisco 8-port switch connect to the RVS4000 with 3 additional PCs/devices on it.
Using webvpn on a 2811 w/ adv ent 12.4(20)THTTP sites work fine (in the url-list)
But when we try to use an HTTPS site, clicking on that site just hangs forever. Debugs show the connection is making it, and the servers are getting the connections...
The destination servers are using self-signed certs, as well as the router. They are not requiring client certs.
I have DSL line that gives 7mb down and 768k up. I have 2 users running win7 RDP session and after a few hours the session is unusable its so slow and then eventually it hangs . don't know where to start.
Loaned old laptop when hard-drive went out of my own. I knew it would need some maintenance ie defrags, cleanups, updates etc. and have been trying to do so... in the process I am having a very difficult time as all of my browsers (that I thought were updated) are slow, hanging, crashing and causing my entire pc to freeze or hang.
I've been having trouble with the internet connection speed on my Mac. I originally noticed the problem when my mail kept timing out whenever I sent an attachment, I went to different forums trying to find the solution but nothing really worked, so I found work arounds for the email and lived with it. Recently the company I work for moved offices and I was no longer behind the RV082 and my internet ran better dispite the slower connection. Once we finished moving, I needed to use the Dual Wan Load Balance feature of th RV082 so I set it up in the new office and my internet was slow again. Unfortunatly in the new office there are several more Macs than just mine so I really need to get it working. Currently we have 2 seperate networks for PC and Mac and I really need to get them on 1. Is there a setting I may have overlooked or is it not going to work with Mac.
I've noticed that when using the range command to configure multiple interfaces on a 3750 the SSH session oftens hangs. It's seems the more interfaces in the range command the more often it hangs. I have a feeling it also spikes up the CPU. Doesn't seem to be related to a specific version of code.
I have a network of 50+ users with half running XP and half running Windows 7. Soon we will be upgrading all users to Windows 7. During the past month a number of the Windows 7 users have reported intermittent Internet connectivity. I would go to their computer and see that they are getting all the correct IP information from the DHCP server and reboot their network adapter. Usually one reset of the adapter would do, but sometimes had to reset it twice or three times before connectivity would occur.
After a few weeks of this more users would report consistent intermittent connectivity. Just to the Internet, as they were able to reach their folders on our file server and were able to receive e-mails from our e-mail server. I decided to monitor the network traffic on one of the adapters having the issue using Wireshark, and found an ARP request and reply for the gateway IP. I logged into the router and found that the reply given to the Windows 7 machine was incorrect, as the MAC address given to the Windows 7 machine was the WAN1 port of the RV082. The LAN port on the router is 192.168.0.1 and has a MAC of xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-x0. The WAN1 port on the router has a public IP and has a MAC of xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-x1. I checked the arp cache on the Windows 7 computers and confirmed that when they have no internet connectivity the ARP cache reads like this: 192.168.0.1 xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-x1 dynamic
The machine is able to ping every machine on the internal network except for the gateway IP. Also, after updating the cache to map the gateway IP with the LAN port MAC address, using: netsh interface ipv4 add neighbors "connection name" 192.168.0.1 xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-x0
the issue was resolved for that Windows 7 machine. However, the issue is ongoing for every Windows 7/Vista machine added to the network. I do not want to update the ARP cache on every Vista/7 machine introduced to the network. We are running firmware 2.0.2.01-tm which was updated from 2.0.0.19-tm just 2 weeks ago.
Was building a small network in Cisco Packet Tracer and ran in to an issue. I have 4 routers running OSPF, and off one of the routers I have 5 3560 Multilayer switches. The router that the switches hang off of, I have a sub-interface with dot1q encapsulation, set for vlan 10 and an IP Address. 10.14.16.1/24. The switches have interface vlan 10 configures, and have IPs in the same subnet. From that router, I can ping/telnet to all the switches without issue. My problem arises when I try and reach those switches from any other router. OSPF is set to redistribute static and connected subnets. The routing table is populated correctly on all the routers. When I ping and trace the packet, it looks like it makes it all the way to the respective switch, but the packet never makes it back. I've played with the default route on the switches to no avail. Am I trying to implement this incorrectly, or am I just missing something?
I encountered an issue while trying to boot Catalys WS-C4948-S switch. I power on the switch and I'm able to see the boot messages thourgh serial console cable. But it gets stuck at line "Image text-base: 0x1000000, data-base: ..... ". Also I can enter into rommon mode. I tried to use different kinds of IOS images, tried to boot from tftp but with no luck, the issue is the same.
There are no erros on the screen, it just gets stuck when it enters into IOS, so I don't see the IOS prompt.
