Cisco Wireless :: 1801W - Unable To Find Details Of Configuration?

Apr 1, 2013

I've just received a Cisco 1801W router (pre-owned), which I'm going to be installing in our school, and I have been unable to figure out the details of the wireless configuration. The 1801W router is replacing an old basic Linksys WAP54G router. I'm hoping to configure the 1801 for basic DSL, with the WiFi configured with a single SSID, using WPA-PSK authentication with a hard-coded pre-shared key on the router. We do not have a radius server available at the school.
I think I have the router set up properly for DSL with NAT and DHCP for the internal network (192.168.1.x).  The router's E0 interface uses, and the dialer0 interface will receive an IP from the service provider (ISP).  The only thing I'm missing is the wireless configuration part.

Cisco WAN :: Adding 2nd DSL WAN To 1801w?

Jan 24, 2013

I have an 1801w connected to ATT/Bellsouth FastAccess via its DSL port. The LAN connection is through FastEthernet1 trunked to an Extreme Networks Summit 450e. My 1801w configuration is attached and everything is working great.
My problem: DSL bandwidth is unfortunately limited to 3mbps/384kpbs in my area, so I'm considering adding a second DSL line and aggregating bandwidth (load balancing) between two.
1) Can this be acheived using the 1801w, perhaps by adding an external modem for the second DSL connection feeding the 1801's FastEthernet0 port?
2) If yes, then might anyone have a specific modem recommendation? If no, then what other equipment would I need?
3) Most importantly, what 1801 configurations changes required? (I expect my goal would be to equally share the WAN links between all connected VLANs/networks, but if necessary I suppose a workable alternative might be to dedicate a new VLAN/network (e.g., "office") to the new WAN link.

Fastethernet0 is connected to the school's main switch (24 port), but we could use a few more ports. I'd love to use the 8 ports on the router.

The other laptops in the house can pick up the wireless connections so I know its working. The internet works when the box is connected to the computer but I need the box in another room so wireless is essential.

But when I try to use the wireless access point in my mobile phone / laptop, the device is not able to find the WiFi access point. I need to swith off the modem and start it again, then the devices are finding the access point. I guess this has to do with some amount of inactivity and the modem switces off the wireless access point. I there anyway by which I can turn off that setting ? I have tried the setting page but was not able to find anything.

Cisco Wireless :: 891w - Unable To Get Into Global Configuration Mode

Working with wired Cisco equipment for many years, but trying to configure an integrated wireless AP for the first time.

Cisco Wireless :: Unable To Access Web-based Configuration Using Host Name (WAP4410N)

Oct 17, 2010

I recently bought and installed a WAP4410N access point (using PoE) and it's running stable. I was able to access the web-based configuration by using the IP address of the AP (something like, coming from the DHCP of my router). However, I'm unable to access the web-based configuration using the host name of the device (mentioned next to the device name in the basic setup section of the web-based configuration). I changed the host name several times, but I can't connect to the device using the host name. Accessing the device by its IP address works, but I have to check the logging of my router to find out which IP address I have to use. Is there a way to access the device using the host name?

(I think my WAP4410N has firmware version installed)

How To Setup (SMTP) Details

Apr 1, 2012

I have installed some 3rd party software for email messaging and it requires SMTP details. I hardly even know what SMTP is. Via google I found one it has something to do with server for sending email messages but I don't want to use SMTP of my ISP which is (referring to smtp and not isp) the one that is being used in microsoft outlook program. But the 3rd party software is different one. It requires FIVE (5) datas and I have no idea how do I find them out:

server name

I have been searching for some smtp details what to type with the following requirements:

- smtp must be free to have and use details
- working one
- as fast as possible
- no particular limits

The program also offers to set up ''in-build'' smtp server. If I choose this it works but the message cannot be sent for unknown reason. I don't have firewall and I double checked nothing is wrong with avast antivirus. So I will have to get the smtp details with mentoined four requirements. Don't even know where to search. I found some freeware smtp (or virtual smtp) applications but I need 5 datas to type in and not an application. No idea where to get them. I tried gmal [URL] but its not working, been trying also different ports.

PC F5D7632-4 - Unable To Find Network

Jun 26, 2011

I have my downstairs PC (Windows Vista 64 bit) conncted to a Belkin router. model F5D7632-4. This works without any problems.Upstairs, my son has a PC (Windows XP) that connects via a Belkin USB G Network Adapter, model F5D7050, version 4.000uk. This worked perfectly, too.He has just got a new PC which I have bought from a friend. My friend used the tower of a previous PC my son had, which had died about 4 years back when the PSU blew and took everything out with it, and fitted the motherboard, graphics card, HDD, RAM etc etc (it uses Windows 7).

I downloaded the latest drivers from the Belkin site, installed them, but for the life of me, the new PC will not detect the network connection. At all. It doesn't find anything. So, I unplugged my PC from the router, and plugged the new PC into it. Unsurpisingly, it connected to the net without any problems. The next thing I did was to reconnect my PC to the router, and try my son's new PC wirelessly again with the Network Adaptor, in the same room. Again, it just doesn't find a network at all.The PC detects the Adapter being plugged in and out, and the light is on on it. I even tried his old PC with the Adapter, and that still finds the network perfectly.

I was on the phone to Belkin for 35 mins yesterday, and they went through everything, to no avail. They think the USB slots may be faulty, even though the PC knows when i'm plugging things into them.

I know the wireless adapter is broadcasting because my sister can connect wirelessly to the internet. My WiFi is on, but I can't find any networks.

Cisco VPN :: IKE Initiator Unable To Find Policy / ASA5505

Apr 29, 2012

I am testing VPN tunnels in a lab. I have the following (simple) setup:

-one ASA5505 has an "inside" interface with address and an "outside" interface with address
-one computer with address ("Client") is connected to the "inside" interface
-one ASA5510 has an "inside" interface with address and an "outside" interface with address
-one computer with address ("Server") is connected to the "inside" interface
-both "outside" interfaces are connected through a layer 2 switch

I had a VPN tunnel between them using "Main mode", and that worked without a problem. But in my target system, the ASA5505 will be connected to a router with a dynamic IP address, and so I need to use "Aggressive mode", where the ASA5510 will have a static address on the "outside" interface. The ASA5505 will therefore initiate the VPN session.

I am using the ASDM, by the way.I have the VPN tunnel established, but I am unable to ping from either side. When I ping the Server from the Client, the ASA5505 gives me the expected "Built/Teardown ICMP connection...", but the ASA5510 says "IKE Initiator unable to find policy: Intf inside, Src:, Dst:". So the ping makes it to the Server, but the reply can't find its way back out. When I ping the client from the Server, I get the same message on the ASA5510: "IKE Initiator unable to find policy: Intfc inside, Src:, Dst:".I attach the configuration on the ASA5510.
