Is it possible to obtain details for computers that are connecting to my wireless network? I can see their mac and ip addresses. I want to get details like computer name, operating system and other details if possible.
I know that when you surf the web, websites can log your IP & MAC address. If you get my jist, I don't want my laptop to be flagged on a few web sites I have been on.My plan is to use another pc, that has a wireless braodband dongle from a mobile phone company. The pc will be attched to the wireless router via Ethernet, but banned from access the web via the router. This way I can connect remotley from my laptop.
We have an ADSL connection and use a D-Link DSL-320B modem. We have a D-Link DIR-120 router connected to this modem. This has worked perfectly fine up until today when we disconnected the router and connected a computer (call it A) directly to the modem because it was getting an unusable connection through the router for some reason. We later also performed a factory reset on the DIR-120 router.
Unfortunately, after the above steps the router did not receive any IP address (through DHCP) from the ADSL connection anymore. During my attempts to debug this I noticed that my laptop (call it B) didn't get any IP address either (when connected directly to the modem). I noticed the following syslog entries repeating over and over while trying to connect: [code]
At this point computer A could still get a connection just fine tho (when connected directly to the modem).
I then tried to change the MAC address of the router to an arbitrary one (a copy of computer B's MAC address but with the last digit increased by one). The router still did not get assigned any IP address. Finally I tried making the router clone the MAC address of a third computer (call it C). C has never been connected directly to the modem. Doing this worked. After cloning the MAC address of computer C the router is immediately assigned an IP address and the internet connection works as it did prior to all this.
Now, my question is, why would computer B and the original MAC address of the router not be able to get an IP address while two other computers worked just fine? Why would changing to an arbitrary MAC address not work while cloning the MAC address of another computer did? Could the router's MAC address have been blocked by the ISP for some reason (and what could cause this)?
but my situation seems more like a blacklisting of some MAC addresses rather then allowing just a single MAC address.
I have a Belkin aigo True Mimo PreN Router model FD 582304. I am trying to wireless connect a new laptop on windows 7. It wont accept the WEP key I have previously used. The router is cable connected to my desk top computer. How do I find out the details of the WEP key for this router or reset all.
I have installed some 3rd party software for email messaging and it requires SMTP details. I hardly even know what SMTP is. Via google I found one it has something to do with server for sending email messages but I don't want to use SMTP of my ISP which is (referring to smtp and not isp) the one that is being used in microsoft outlook program. But the 3rd party software is different one. It requires FIVE (5) datas and I have no idea how do I find them out:
email server name password username port
I have been searching for some smtp details what to type with the following requirements:
- smtp must be free to have and use details - working one - as fast as possible - no particular limits
The program also offers to set up ''in-build'' smtp server. If I choose this it works but the message cannot be sent for unknown reason. I don't have firewall and I double checked nothing is wrong with avast antivirus. So I will have to get the smtp details with mentoined four requirements. Don't even know where to search. I found some freeware smtp (or virtual smtp) applications but I need 5 datas to type in and not an application. No idea where to get them. I tried gmal [URL] but its not working, been trying also different ports.
Iam joining sky in the coming week and will be receiving their free router (G Router). I am currently using (Belkin N Router) due to the distance from my computers and interferance (eg , walls, 4 floors).
I understand that I cannot use my own router with sky because they have username & password built into router. I have heard rumours that these details can be extracted.
I am looking for a way to hide all that information that can be retrieved about me, for example browser, OS, resolution, location, etc.. Is there a way to prevent the sites from getting that info?

Cant find the speeking result/cause of 4 and 1 in the example below, that are defined as enums in the MIBs normaly. Where can I access the result of "snmptranslate -M<MIB-dirs> -m ALL -Td <ps-status/test-oid>" if this is implemented in LMS overall? What are the OIDs from Cisco's ps-status/test, if the translation of MIB-enums is not implented?

when i was on the computer last night, i noticed someone else's address at the upper right hand corner nest to "sign in". The person's address was Jaydogwalker45@yahoo.com. I also noticed a green circle next to the address, so i clicked it and i had the option of signing him out, so i did.
I started my PC (aser) as usuao but did not connect to internet that i am using TP Link modem/router, I turned laptop on and get conected the wireless is working fine, serached about TP links solutions and applied all of them, before I was using "obtain IP automatically" then I used to insert the required IPs manually, applied and save and restarted several times... still cannot connect to the internet while I still connected to the same modem+router via laptop wireless connection,
Finally I decided to format and installed new OS XP, though some wrong error was with my OS, unfortunately even after installing new OS still not able to connect, I checked the IP and tried both options and still cant access, i never experienced such..
I am currently living in student halls, and so far I have been successfully using the halls' provided internet (ethernet port in wall) via a wireless router (belkin wireless ADSL). Until now.I have been unable to connect or the internet either via the router, or by direct connection to the wall.Whilst connected directly into the wall socket via the ethernet cable, my pc still thinks that I am connecting directly into the modem, and still labels the wired LAN connection as 'belkin 54g', despite the router not being connected at all.I have called the technical support for the network, and they have told me that my computer is assigning the wrong ipv4 address, and they had me do a cmd prompt and run ipconfig /reset and ipconfig /renew. This still did not solve the problem, as my PC still tried to connect with the same incorrect IP address. I know the problem is not with the ethernet port or cable, as I have tried in another room that has a working connection, and I still am unable to connect to the internet (DNS error on chrome).
One computer (Windows 7 Laptop) which travels between both locations. Can I or how do I setup a static IP address for both locations on my computer and not have to change settings when I change locations?
If my computer was stolen could I locate it using the unique mac address? And is this why burgular didn't take two laptops when they burguled us last night

Myself and a friend used to play a game over the internet and join via ip address after a few years and upgrades to windows 7 we decided to do this again problem is we cannot seem to be able to connect via ip address using windows 7 does not even work after using port forward on my machine (host) and disabling firewalls on both machines.
I have 2 servers. 1 is a terminal server windows 2003 sb terminal server.(working fine) and the other is server 2003 small business DC configured with dhcp, dns, SQL, & wins. Last week one of the network programs that is located on the DC started refusing connections. So doing some trouble shooting I noticed that when I ping the server name I get a local address of *.*.*.42 when the address the machine is assigned is *.*.*.5. When I do an Ipconfig /all on the DC it only shows the *.*.*.5 number. I look in DHCP and *.*.*.5 is reserved for the DC Computer. And the *.*.*.42 isn't even in the address leases. I have also looked through the DNS settings and see no alias with the .42 number. And the number does not show up in the reverse lookup zone either.
I have 3 Twitter accounts that all work fine on my iphone and my sony experia phone but I can not get into twitter on my home cpu because I cant find the email address that I used to start the account i tell them i lost it so they email it to my email address on file that they wont share. So I need to find out every single email account i have set up in the last 2 years. How do i do that? I tried the option to security to optioms again and nothing for twitter. I need those account on my desk so i can send photos off my hard drive.

Have a computer running windows xp. Whenever I plug in my internet cable it says 'Acquiring Network Address'. I have left it for over and hour but it still says the same thing. I have connected other computers to the router with the same cable and they work perfectly. I have also tried channging the linkspeed for the network connection, renewing my ip address, repairing the network connection and disabling and enabling the connection.
There are 6 computers in our home network. It happens every few months or so that router would not assign valid IP address to one of the computers. So, most of the time everything works well, but there comes a moment when one of the computers (but not others) can't get valid IP address. We try turning off and then on the router and it solves the problem most of the time. But, there are cases when turning off and on the router won't solve the problem.
