Giving IP Address Of Router To Computer?

View 1 RepliesI have two servers running behind my D-Link DIR-655 NAT router. Obviously, I cannot allow outside access to both of them simultaneously without putting them on different external ports, which I don't want to do. (DNS can only redirect to the common external IP of my router, not the unique internal IPs of my servers.) The easiest solution I can think of to this is simply to put one of the servers completely outside of the router so that it grabs its own IP address from Comcast (and thus allows me to change my DNS records so that the destination IPs are different.) Is this possible, and if it is, how do I do it?
P.S. I've already tried putting one server into the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) on my router to no avail.
i have a cisco router that has dhcp configured, the router ip address is 10.10.10.***. all computer that attached to the router are using static ip and works fine but when i am connecting my laptop using wireless in gets an 192.168.1.*** address.

The router is seeing as if the router gave the ip address to the user, but the reality the user was assigne the OS ip address 169. I did "debug ip dhcp server events" and I got the following:

We have an ADSL connection and use a D-Link DSL-320B modem. We have a D-Link DIR-120 router connected to this modem. This has worked perfectly fine up until today when we disconnected the router and connected a computer (call it A) directly to the modem because it was getting an unusable connection through the router for some reason. We later also performed a factory reset on the DIR-120 router.
Unfortunately, after the above steps the router did not receive any IP address (through DHCP) from the ADSL connection anymore. During my attempts to debug this I noticed that my laptop (call it B) didn't get any IP address either (when connected directly to the modem). I noticed the following syslog entries repeating over and over while trying to connect: [code]
At this point computer A could still get a connection just fine tho (when connected directly to the modem).
I then tried to change the MAC address of the router to an arbitrary one (a copy of computer B's MAC address but with the last digit increased by one). The router still did not get assigned any IP address. Finally I tried making the router clone the MAC address of a third computer (call it C). C has never been connected directly to the modem. Doing this worked. After cloning the MAC address of computer C the router is immediately assigned an IP address and the internet connection works as it did prior to all this.
Now, my question is, why would computer B and the original MAC address of the router not be able to get an IP address while two other computers worked just fine? Why would changing to an arbitrary MAC address not work while cloning the MAC address of another computer did? Could the router's MAC address have been blocked by the ISP for some reason (and what could cause this)?
but my situation seems more like a blacklisting of some MAC addresses rather then allowing just a single MAC address.
Is there a way to get VPN IP address without giving someone access to the firewall itself? LIke a script you can put on a website?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThere are 6 computers in our home network. It happens every few months or so that router would not assign valid IP address to one of the computers. So, most of the time everything works well, but there comes a moment when one of the computers (but not others) can't get valid IP address. We try turning off and then on the router and it solves the problem most of the time. But, there are cases when turning off and on the router won't solve the problem.

The router works fine with all of my laptops but not with my desktop. The desktop has a WMP11 wireless PCI card. I have had trouble using this card in the past but have always managed to solve connectivity issues. This time, I am unable to connect to the internet. If I go to speedtest.net both the upload and the download works flawless. However, after around half an hour it's virtually impossible to upload, which gives heavy lag in programs like skype and games. If you try to speedtest.net now the download is still fine, but the upload gives a result of 0.1mb/sec after trying to even start the test for 3-4 minutes.Router giving up upload completely
I've tried to change the IP in the router to prevent a conflict between it and the switch. The problem is still there whatever IP I choose though, I simply have no upload.I've also tried to disable the DHCP, mess with the MTU and to enable the Access Point mode with no result.
I have 2 public ip, 1.1.1.1 anda 1.1.1.2. I'm connected to the ISP using PPPoE. I also have a router and a firewall. I want to assign 1.1.1.1 to router and 1.1.1.2 to the firewall. I do not want to NAT 2 times (one in router and one in firewall)That's why i want to bridge Fa0/0 and Fa0/1.Could this be done in Cisco router? I've done this command but it's not working as i want. View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently i have been having LOADS of problems with my wireless router. Every now and then it will decide that 2 of my 3 computers will not be allowed to connect to the internet. and i will have to spend hours of resetting and rebooting computers to get it to work again.. only for the issue to start again a few hours later. I recently added the third computer but im not sure how that would be an issue.
the router is a Linksys (cisco) WRT54G2.. a
My router is showing two separate SSIDs, dlink and dlink 2 it only recently started doing this and around the same time my router has been constantly rebooting when there's little or heavy internet traffic.I have a DIR 655 Hardware Version: A4.Firmware: 1.21 NA
I refuse to go to any version above 1.21 as 1.21 is the most stable firmware for the 655, I have tried all other with terrible outcomes and wireless performance.I've looked around and most people think it's a joke or something, always saying it's probably a neighbors wireless, but that's impossible since I'm on an acreage and my neighbors are too far away for us to be receiving their wireless signals, and if I change the password and encryption type (WPA/WEP/WPA2) I have to change the security settings on both dlink and dlink 2.
Also I have the normal 192.168.0.1 gateway to access the router under the "LAN" section under Status on the router, but under WAN I have a completely different gateway that just recently showed up. I have no idea where this came from or what happened.
Just bought first wireless router, when i insert CD and start setup, after a few seconds i get Error 301: internal error. i have rebooted and still no luck. I've tried going to 192.168.1.1, i got in one time but didn't understand half the stuff. now i can't go back into that page.
View 8 Replies View RelatedJust installed RV042 router. And it's giving out router certificate instead of server certificate so people who are trying to access our secured server are getting errors. I'm not talking about remote management. I'm talking about people trying to access our web site, which is secured, and getting an error because the RV042 is giving its own SSL certificate instead of the Server's certificate. How do we turn that off or keep it from happenning?
The RV042 firm version is v4.0.0.07-tm (Aug 19 2010 19:19:50)
when i was on the computer last night, i noticed someone else's address at the upper right hand corner nest to "sign in". The person's address was Jaydogwalker45@yahoo.com. I also noticed a green circle next to the address, so i clicked it and i had the option of signing him out, so i did.

I am currently living in student halls, and so far I have been successfully using the halls' provided internet (ethernet port in wall) via a wireless router (belkin wireless ADSL). Until now.I have been unable to connect or the internet either via the router, or by direct connection to the wall.Whilst connected directly into the wall socket via the ethernet cable, my pc still thinks that I am connecting directly into the modem, and still labels the wired LAN connection as 'belkin 54g', despite the router not being connected at all.I have called the technical support for the network, and they have told me that my computer is assigning the wrong ipv4 address, and they had me do a cmd prompt and run ipconfig /reset and ipconfig /renew. This still did not solve the problem, as my PC still tried to connect with the same incorrect IP address. I know the problem is not with the ethernet port or cable, as I have tried in another room that has a working connection, and I still am unable to connect to the internet (DNS error on chrome).

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo network was running fine for about a year or so. Network consists of 1 Motorola SB6120 cable modem attached to a D-Link DIR-601 wireless router. All settings were default except for SSID and WPA password. One day I just couldn't access internet anymore. I've narrowed it down to the default gateway that is being given out through DHCP. The default gateway that is being given out is the IP of the modem (192.168.100.1) and not of the Router (192.168.0.1). I can't find any option on Wireless router to be able to force the gateway address when handing out the gateway IP. Theoretically I thought I should be able to put router on same subnet as modem as 192.168.100.2 but that still doesn't work. If I set the IP adresses statically on the PCs and give it the Gateway of the Router everything works fine. I should mention this is for my boss' house and basically I dont want him calling me everytime he has a friend come over and I have to talk em through setting up a Static IP.
And just for an example this is what I get if I use DHCP:
IP Address: 192.168.0.155
Mask: 255.255.255.0
DNS: 192.168.0.1
Default Gateway: 192.168.100.1
And If I want it to work I have to change the default gateway to 192.168.0.1 I've tried updating routers firmware and reset to factory default numerous times. Is it possible for a router DHCP stop working?
