i have a cisco router that has dhcp configured, the router ip address is 10.10.10.***. all computer that attached to the router are using static ip and works fine but when i am connecting my laptop using wireless in gets an 192.168.1.*** address.
View 17 RepliesSo network was running fine for about a year or so. Network consists of 1 Motorola SB6120 cable modem attached to a D-Link DIR-601 wireless router. All settings were default except for SSID and WPA password. One day I just couldn't access internet anymore. I've narrowed it down to the default gateway that is being given out through DHCP. The default gateway that is being given out is the IP of the modem (192.168.100.1) and not of the Router (192.168.0.1). I can't find any option on Wireless router to be able to force the gateway address when handing out the gateway IP. Theoretically I thought I should be able to put router on same subnet as modem as 192.168.100.2 but that still doesn't work. If I set the IP adresses statically on the PCs and give it the Gateway of the Router everything works fine. I should mention this is for my boss' house and basically I dont want him calling me everytime he has a friend come over and I have to talk em through setting up a Static IP.
And just for an example this is what I get if I use DHCP:
IP Address: 192.168.0.155
Mask: 255.255.255.0
DNS: 192.168.0.1
Default Gateway: 192.168.100.1
And If I want it to work I have to change the default gateway to 192.168.0.1 I've tried updating routers firmware and reset to factory default numerous times. Is it possible for a router DHCP stop working?
I have a RV042 router. The problem that I am having with it is that the DHCP is giving out the wrong Default Gateway and DNS Server. There is no option to change the DHCP server IP on any of the settings pages on the router. I am begining to think that there might not be a way to do it. I see that there is an option for the DNS under the DHCP page but the Public IP that is being handed out is not the one on that page. I also have 2 WAN connections hooked up as well a DSL link and a Cable link (the cable link is the primary one).
The following information is provided in an effort to resolve this issue:
IP of Router 10.0.0.2
IP of DHCP Server (the one that is being handed out):10.0.0.1
IP of DNS (the one that is being handed out): 10.0.0.11
What I want to it be.
IP of Router: 10.0.0.2
IP of DHCP 10.0.0.2
IP of DNS 10.0.0.2

I'm having a problem where my dir655 updates the wrong ip adress to dyndns server. It always report 255.255.255.255. The dyndns information is all entered correctly and says "connected" in the dyndns configuration. So what is wrong with the adress update from the dir-655 to the dyndns server ? Of course I cannot use my dyndns adress since it is always at the wrong adress.

The router is seeing as if the router gave the ip address to the user, but the reality the user was assigne the OS ip address 169. I did "debug ip dhcp server events" and I got the following:

Frameware version: 1.0.03.
Environment: Internet (external IP say 24.x.x.x) ISP provided modem+router (192. 168. 1.x/ 24 IPTV network) E4200 (192.168.0.x/24 my home network).
The DDNS option page did report update succefully and shown the external IP address correctly on the page, however when I login to dynDNS it shows 192.168.1.x, which is the E4200 IP dhcp from the ISP's router.I know that it's double NAT, but the 192.168.1x/24 subnet is the IPTV subnet, and my old Dlink router did support and update the dynDNS entry properly.
I have a 2003 server that is doing something wrong. When I show the mac address table I can see that the server is assigning a bad mac address to several IPS. The server assign a non-existent mac address to some IPS for this reason the server stobut I would like to solve the problem
- I ran my antivirus an no virus was found.
- I updated the network driver.
Is there a way to get VPN IP address without giving someone access to the firewall itself? LIke a script you can put on a website?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble with getting a copier that I have networked to stay registered in the system. When connecting all the equipment back for the new year I was having trouble getting this one specific copier back online properly. I used to have it assigned with a static IP because the person that was here before me had all the computers map the printer using the IP instead of Hostname but that was causing IP conflicts so I removed it and mapped the printer through Hostname which is made "MPF-TOSHRM328"So now for the actual problem, after the copier got the new dynamic IP of 10.8.214.151 i thought it would be fine and everything would click in because it was mapped to the host name and not the IP. But when I do a tracert on the hostname it still shows up with the old IP. and now that the old ip has been reassigned it actually points to a physical machine now. Weird. All attempts to flush the DNS have not resolved the issue. I even tried going in and deleting the entries in manually. No luck. As a point of reference here is the result from the tracert.Tracing route to MFP-TOSHRM328.78B450.nycboe.org [10.8.214.126] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms SLS330W09 [10.8.214.126]Trace complete. I should also mention that this server is only here in the sense that it is the DC for the computers on this floor. There is a whole other system that assigns the IP's and handles the DNS. I do not have access to it, it is run by the main network people at the central offices.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have two servers running behind my D-Link DIR-655 NAT router. Obviously, I cannot allow outside access to both of them simultaneously without putting them on different external ports, which I don't want to do. (DNS can only redirect to the common external IP of my router, not the unique internal IPs of my servers.) The easiest solution I can think of to this is simply to put one of the servers completely outside of the router so that it grabs its own IP address from Comcast (and thus allows me to change my DNS records so that the destination IPs are different.) Is this possible, and if it is, how do I do it?
P.S. I've already tried putting one server into the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) on my router to no avail.
Do not have internet connectivity, despite all the lights lit on calbe modem and the ASUS WL520GU router and only the internet and ethernet lights are lit on the Linksys 2102.Despite numerous reboots, no change and even bypassing the router and connecting directly to ATA still no conectivity.When I open a browser, it reverts to the Asus error page, "reason for failed connection: You have set the wrong dynamic or static IP address, though nothing was changed.Funny thing again, a direct internet connection to the ATA did nothing.A google search only just shows lots of unasnered posts on this issue, or only the usual 'please reboot'.

In setting up a RV220W device behind either a cable modem or a DSL modem, the address that is being returned is not the public IP address of the modem, but rather the private IP address assigned by the modem to the RV220W. Doesn't matter for normal web access but trying to set up a VPN tunnel fails due to the inaccurate IP address.
If I do the same thing but use the dyndns.com application on a computer behind all of this (connected on the private LAN of the RV220W via cable), it reports the external IP address correctly. That works in some locations if I have an always on computer to load the application to. In some cases, however, there isn't such a computer to leave dedicated to running the separate program.
Since this works, and the RV220W doesn't, there is some difference between the Cisco implementation and the dyndns.com implementation.
So, is there a way to get the RV220W to return the true external IP address, or is it stuck returning a private address?
I have an Amilo Pa1510 (Windows XP) and I can connect to the router but not surfing (browser doesnt load any website). I have tried the commands "ping" to my IP address and it works but ping to the default gateway IP address doesnt work either.I am using the same wireless connection right now with my smartphone. I have downloaded an app that executes the ipconfig command in my Android. I have used the same gateway IP address in my laptop but it didnt work either. I have tried to set automatically the IP addresses in my laptop without success too. I have turned off and on both laptop and router and also checked in the system window that all the processes such as DHCP and DNS servers are automatic and enabled.

Some of wireless clients having problem to get the correct IP address from the DHCP server. There are 2 units of Microsoft DHCP. Both DHCP server ip have been configured on the Interface at the WLC. The core switch also being configured with ip helper. I've attached the debug output of one of the wireless client during the problem.

If I connect my laptop or pc directly into the ISP modem I get a speed of 75mpbs, very happy with that. But if I connect my Sitecom wl-340 router to the ISP modem and then my pc or laptop into the router i can only get 10mpbs! I have connected everything with cat 5 ftp cable.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a switch connected from the internet outtake in my apartment.This switch gives internet to two, or sometimes three computers, by cable.To get wireless I have a DLINK-615 connected after the switch.This solution works flawless for some time, just after the router is started or reset. If I go to speedtest.net both the upload and the download works flawless.However, after around half an hour it's virtually impossible to upload, which gives heavy lag in programs like skype and games. If you try to speedtest.net now the download is still fine, but the upload gives a result of 0.1mb/sec after trying to even start the test for 3-4 minutes.Router giving up upload completely
I've tried to change the IP in the router to prevent a conflict between it and the switch. The problem is still there whatever IP I choose though, I simply have no upload.I've also tried to disable the DHCP, mess with the MTU and to enable the Access Point mode with no result.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust installed RV042 router. And it's giving out router certificate instead of server certificate so people who are trying to access our secured server are getting errors. I'm not talking about remote management. I'm talking about people trying to access our web site, which is secured, and getting an error because the RV042 is giving its own SSL certificate instead of the Server's certificate. How do we turn that off or keep it from happenning?

I currently have a wired router (Cisco RV042), a wireless router (Cisco WRT110), and a switch for my network. I have the RV042 on a 192.168.5.1 subnet, and that is where my server and other local resources are. I wanted to add wireless for guests, but do not want the guests to have access to local resources, so I plugged the wireless router into RV042 and configured it for a 192.168.1.1 subnet. I can get internet access, but when I connect with a laptop to the wireless router, I end up being assigned an IP in the 5.1 subnet. I set up the VLAN setting in the RV042 for the correct port, but for some reason I am still being assigned the wrong IP, and I can hit local resources on the wireless.

The network seems to be a large number of routers all with the same SSID on the same network.Usually my connection is great; but sometimes my computer decides to switch to the router from another flat. A few minutes ago my wireless config utility told me I was connected to the flat 24 router. I am now connection to the flat 26 router. It wouldn't be much of a problem, only it's give or take, around 140 times slower because of how far away it is. Windows can't tell the difference, I have to do it through the driver software that came with my Edimax wireless card, it recognises each router seperately but ultimately it always recognises it primarily by it's SSID. Sometimes it sticks to the good one, sometimes it changes every few minutes and I have to manually change it back and it is very frustrating, can't it just ignore the bad connection completely?
I can't login to change any of the router settings and the router doesn't have any ethernet ports for students to use, so I need a solution from the PC end (If I could i'd simply change the SSID to something slightly different so it didn't clash, then there would be no problem). I'm using a DSL line that changes IP's. I have the E3200 set to auto, but everytime the IP changes, my internet goes down, and I get an ip of 127.0.0.1 on the status page. I then have to renew the ip and reboot. This happens once a day, usually.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem with DHCP running on a cisco 1900 series router, 1921 to be precise. The Data VLAN works perfectly, i configured a ip helper address and its working. Problem tough is VLAN 20. This is the voice vlan. As u can see in the config below, this has been configured using VRRP and VRF for failover purposes. I did more of these configurations, and they all worked fine, just not with this particular router!
As u will notice i deleted all the not needed to know information or i X'ed it!
