I have a 2003 server that is doing something wrong. When I show the mac address table I can see that the server is assigning a bad mac address to several IPS. The server assign a non-existent mac address to some IPS for this reason the server stobut I would like to solve the problem
- I ran my antivirus an no virus was found.
- I updated the network driver.
DHCP enabled with default settings. Dynamic IP range from 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.199.Router shows laptop with 192.168.0.199 however when I check the IP on laptop I have 192.168.100.10 and both laptops are connected on my SSID with 90% signal strenght.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble with getting a copier that I have networked to stay registered in the system. When connecting all the equipment back for the new year I was having trouble getting this one specific copier back online properly. I used to have it assigned with a static IP because the person that was here before me had all the computers map the printer using the IP instead of Hostname but that was causing IP conflicts so I removed it and mapped the printer through Hostname which is made "MPF-TOSHRM328"So now for the actual problem, after the copier got the new dynamic IP of 10.8.214.151 i thought it would be fine and everything would click in because it was mapped to the host name and not the IP. But when I do a tracert on the hostname it still shows up with the old IP. and now that the old ip has been reassigned it actually points to a physical machine now. Weird. All attempts to flush the DNS have not resolved the issue. I even tried going in and deleting the entries in manually. No luck. As a point of reference here is the result from the tracert.Tracing route to MFP-TOSHRM328.78B450.nycboe.org [10.8.214.126] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms SLS330W09 [10.8.214.126]Trace complete. I should also mention that this server is only here in the sense that it is the DC for the computers on this floor. There is a whole other system that assigns the IP's and handles the DNS. I do not have access to it, it is run by the main network people at the central offices.

I'm having a problem where my dir655 updates the wrong ip adress to dyndns server. It always report 255.255.255.255. The dyndns information is all entered correctly and says "connected" in the dyndns configuration. So what is wrong with the adress update from the dir-655 to the dyndns server ? Of course I cannot use my dyndns adress since it is always at the wrong adress.

I have two network cables attached to a managed switch, the location of the two cables are very important. Two computers attached to the said cables.I would like to communicate with one of the computers on PORT 1 and PORT 2, regardless of what computer is plugged into them. They get there IP's via DHCP, and a static IP wont work - as the computer plugged into PORT 1 or 2 may be different.So. I have two ports on the switch that I always want to communicate with the computer on the other end. But I don't (will not) always know the IP address of the computer(s) connected.

I have tried the commands "ping" to my IP address and it works but ping to the default gateway IP address doesnt work either.I am using the same wireless connection right now with my smartphone. I have downloaded an app that executes the ipconfig command in my Android. I have used the same gateway IP address in my laptop but it didnt work either. In setting up a RV220W device behind either a cable modem or a DSL modem, the address that is being returned is not the public IP address of the modem, but rather the private IP address assigned by the modem to the RV220W. Doesn't matter for normal web access but trying to set up a VPN tunnel fails due to the inaccurate IP address.
If I do the same thing but use the dyndns.com application on a computer behind all of this (connected on the private LAN of the RV220W via cable), it reports the external IP address correctly. That works in some locations if I have an always on computer to load the application to. In some cases, however, there isn't such a computer to leave dedicated to running the separate program.
Since this works, and the RV220W doesn't, there is some difference between the Cisco implementation and the dyndns.com implementation.
So, is there a way to get the RV220W to return the true external IP address, or is it stuck returning a private address?
Frameware version: 1.0.03.
Environment: Internet (external IP say 24.x.x.x) ISP provided modem+router (192. 168. 1.x/ 24 IPTV network) E4200 (192.168.0.x/24 my home network).
The DDNS option page did report update succefully and shown the external IP address correctly on the page, however when I login to dynDNS it shows 192.168.1.x, which is the E4200 IP dhcp from the ISP's router.I know that it's double NAT, but the 192.168.1x/24 subnet is the IPTV subnet, and my old Dlink router did support and update the dynDNS entry properly.
I have what I feel is sort of a strange issue. When I have systems on my home network get their IP from DHCP, they can get to the internet just fine. But it seems that when I assign a static address, they have local network access only, and will not get a connection to the internet. My windows 2008 server is the big problem with this one.

So, most of the time everything works well, but there comes a moment when one of the computers (but not others) can't get valid IP address.We try turning off and then on the router and it solves the problem most of the time. But, there are cases when turning off and on the router won't solve the problem.

I was told that if i went into Device Manager within my worksation then Advance > Locall Administered Address and set a static IP, when i install AD and it asks to whether set a static or dynamic IP it would continue the install process. View 12 Replies View RelatedI have an HP 510 laptop running windows xp. Wherever i go, i am able to connect through wifi with a password except for where i live. I have had no problems connecting anywhere else. All other laptops and pc's connect through the network i cant access. I get a 'limited or no connectivity' message with details displaying either 'network did not assign a network address to the computer', 'cannot connect to the internet' or 'cannot renew ip address. I reviewed a few older posts and have tried ipconfig/release, ipconfig/renew, ipconfig/all to no avail. i also tried netsh ip reset reset.log and netsh windows catalog(or something along those lines) from the earlier post i read, still nothing. I do notice that when i go to properties the wep password always reverts to one i did not enter, and once in a great while when i re-enter it the icon will show 'connected to network, excellent signal strength' but Internet Explorer says not able to connect. I cant seem to figure out why i connect fine everywhere else, and why every other 'guest' computer connects to this network.
i connect using Intel(R) PRO/wireless 2200BG under properties>general under properties>wireless networks>association use windows to config is checked under properties>network>properties the network authentication is 'open' and data encryption is set to 'wep' while the network key reverts to something i did not enter. key provided is not checked under properties>wireless networks>authentication 'enable ieee 802.1x authentication for this network is not checked
I've been using the Dir-655 for 2 or 3 years with my old Xbox 360 and an external G wireless adapter. Everything was working perfectly until I got the dreaded Red Rings Of Death the other day. I replaced the Xbox with a new Slim version with built in N capable network adapter.
After more than 10 hours of trying a variety of "fixes" I found from MS and in this forum, I am still at square 1.

I tried assigning an IP manually from the Xbox. But, no matter what I do, the router will not accept it. It is especially frustrating that the Xbox is visible to the unit. It simply will not assign an IP to it under any circumstance.
If you read the sales hype promoting the Dir-655, you will see a lot of nonsense about it being great for gaming. Given that, you'd think a simple solution would have been found and posted for this issue by now. Surely, end users shouldn't be trying 100 different possible "fixes", none of which work, at this late stage of the firmware upgrades. If I sound a tad fed up, it's because I am. After the expense of the new Xbox, it appears I now have to junk my router too.

My ISP given /28 pool of public IP's. So i had total 14 available IP addresses.
I configured one IP to the my firewall outside interface. I want assign remaining IP's to the my Servers, which are located inside to the firewall.
I have 2 units Cisco WLC 5508 running software version 7.0.220 with 70 over units Cisco AP 1262N and 1242AG. Some of wireless clients having problem to get the correct IP address from the DHCP server. There are 2 units of Microsoft DHCP. Both DHCP server ip have been configured on the Interface at the WLC. The core switch also being configured with ip helper. I've attached the debug output of one of the wireless client during the problem.

However is there any way to add a DNS server address to this reserved IP so that only the Google Box is affected by the DNS, all the other connected devices remain unaffected?
