We have cisco 1941 as router in office, it's dhcp server, it has only vlan 1 192.168.4.0/24?I've set up 1142 ap for wireless clients How can i make it give clients ips from dhcp server from vlan 1 ?

He already has a PC and a phone line but not broadband, so he is going to organise that and getting a wireless router.He wants a wireless colour laser printer so that his visitors/guests can print easily from his office, or the next office. Does he really need a wireless printer to do this? Or if I plug a network printer directly into his router with an Ethernet cable, same with his PC, will that enable laptop users to print wirelessly (assuming they know the router passphrase of course)? I guess they would need to install the relevant printer driver to do this too.

I have a DSL modem with wireless networking, and I am trying to install a second wireless router for a separate network. The standalone wireless network has five laptops networked to a sixth laptop, in a server/client setup. To complicate things, I am plugging the server laptop into a LAN connection on the DSL modem. The server shows both the LAN connection with internet access, and the second wireless network without internet access. The client laptops just show the wireless network, without internet access.
This is exactly what I need - internet access for the server but no access for the five clients. I have each wireless router on a separate channel and only auto connect to the standalone wireless network. Is there anything I need to do to the setup of either of the routers to avoid problems?? The wireless network without internet access seems to be abnormally slow in response and I am wondering if there is any interference between networks. None of the laptops are accessing the DSL wireless network, but I still need that DSL wireless capability for other computers in the building.
I would like to add my HP designjet 500 to our wireless network at the office.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have a WAP2000 that supports a few wireless users in a shop environment. Users authenticate using RADIUS. Users connect without issue and can browse the Internet.
The main local network uses a Cisco 800 router to connect to the Internet via DSL and there is an IPsec VPN tunnel to our main office.
When a user is connected to the network via a wired connection, all systems work as expected. If they are on wireless, they cannot connect to services at the main office. They must make a PPTP VPN connection for applications to function.
The WAP2000 has the latest firmware 2.0.4.0. It has a static IP on the local subnet.
Just recently got a new 881W router. i have downloaded the 2.4 software upgrade. I go into the Office extend AP login and i get just a enter button. when i click on the enter button the AP page does not come up.

Situation: I have a store where there is already installed an AP1042N. In the back of the building there is no wireless signal. I want to install a second access point to extend my range;
I currently have:
- 1941 (not wireless) router
- 1140 Access Point
It looks like I got the controller-based AP instead of the standalone. My question is, does the 1941 (not 1941W) have a wireless controller? If not, is there a controller module that I can add to my router? Or should I return the AP I have for the standalone version (or the 1941 for the 1941W)?
I'm setting up a wireless network for a small office with 25 people with approx. 15 on wireless at any time. The office is very long and skinny so I'm looking at a cluster of WAP321's. I'm hoping these will save a ton of money versus buying a controller and more expensive access points.
How do these work for roaming? I tried a search but I've found descriptions of them not roaming at all and descriptions of them roaming but you have to do some kind of pre-authorization right up to they roam with no user interaction, they just roam.
I need the users to be able to roam around the office with no interruption. I don't want to install these and have to rip them out later and put in new ones and a controller. How to find out if the WAP321's will work for roaming.
I have a wireless router (D-Link DIR-625) connected to the modem for our high speed DSL. I have two Brother MFC printers, one is a laser (MFC-9420CN) connected w/ a Cat-5 directly to the router, the other is an ink-jet MFC-6490CN and I would like to use it wireless....but I could connect it to the router if I need to.I have wireless connection to the internet, from my HP 32-bit PC (running Vista-Ultimate), but can not see either of the printers on the network, and cannot print to either. I manually configured both to have an IP within the range of my network, but they still do not work.The problem (I think) could be with the IPCONFIG. (I had no problem last year, but we recently had a few power outages, and now the PC doesn't seem to 'see' any of the printers.) I checked the IPCONFIG. it states 'media disconnected', but I can ping the one wireless printer??? I can not ping the laptop on the network or the laser printer (I confirmed it's ipconfig before pinging).
I know the network card can't be bad, or I couldn't get to the router to access the internet. I also went into the cmd prompt as the administrator and did the /release/renew/all but that didn't work either.
I presently have a fiber internet connection to my office with about 40 wireless users on a single AP. The connection keeps dropping. Probably due to too many users on a single AP?

My question is similar to aniketchitale's, can get another wireless router, create a different SSID (eg. router1 and router2), but both wireless routers still connected to the same fiber connection. In other words, I would like to segregate the first 20 users to router 1 and the next 20 users to router 2.
2. By having 2 wireless routers each with their unique SSID, will all the users still be able to access to the same printer in the office?
Intalled a new router (Linksys Cloud 1200) yesterday. Immediately after that the 2 computers that were connected to the network could no longer access the internet. My laptop and my ipad can access the internet wirelessly. The laptop which was not connected to the network when I connected the router can access the network both wirelessly and wired. Printers attached to the network will print without a problem.Finally I took an old computer out of storage (running WinXP) and hooked it up to the wired network. It too has no problems accessing the network. So have to assume the issue is a software issue with the two computers that were hooked up to the network when I changed the router.I have read the posts here - I did a stack reset on one of the computers but no luck. I removed Norton 360 and Team Viewer which in other posts people said they had issues with...to no avail.
Since I dont have a wireless connection to the 2 computers that cannot access the internet - I cannot download TSG SysInfo. However here I did copy the ipconfig lines below from the desktop thats not responding. [code] Was working fine until I replaced the router. I tried going back to the oldrouter (Netgear) same issue - no wired internet connectivity.
I just got a new E4200 router and downloaded Cisco Connect from the web site...file name CiscoConnect.E4200.1.4.11160.2.exe. When I try to run it, I find through Task Manager that Setup.exe is using about 35 to 40% CPU, but I'm never even getting to anything on the screen, nor is Task Manager even showing it as a running application. I'm running Windows XP SP3 (latest updates). I tuned off the AVG virus scan. But it still just seems to hang. BTW, I used the web interface to fully configure the router and it works fine so I could get by without Cisco Connect, but it might just be easier to use.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have trouble accessing the internet from my laptop after installing Ciso AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9 AP.The AP are connetected to my router (which has a DHCP enabled) via a switch and each has a Fix IP address with network mask, gateway and DNS already configured. When I triy to connect to the access point, only the IP address and network mask are automatically assigned to the my laptop. and I have to manually input the gatway and DNS to be able to navigate the internet. I would like to know which configuration will allow any node that tries to connect the internet via the access point to be automatically configured to access the internet after authentication.

I was wondering if a local ssid can be configured on the AP, similar to what can be done with the OEAP600, in order to provide wireless access to the Internet only? But..then it just hangs there,and eventually leads to-driver was not sucessfully installed(that is when i plug it out,but i waited more than an hour before that)I tried uninstaling and updating the driver for it,but it didnt worked.When i tried to uninstal the driver,again it just hanged.That is untill i unpluged the adapter..I have manually downloaded the latest driver,and when i check in properties it says that device is working properly.
